The room was large and clean. Staff are are very friendly, polite and helpful. Bar area has an old world feel to it and reasonably priced meals and drinks for a hotel. We had one meal in the hotel which was very good and well presented. Breakfast was excellent and love those sausages! Breakfast area is seperate from bar area but breakfast could be had in either. Location couldn't be much better being a short walk (1 minute slow walk) to the centre of the town which has plenty of shops and restaurants/pubs - and not a McDonalds in site! Nice place would definately stop here again. There was nothing really negative about the hotel other than the squeeky floor boards but this is a very old hotel and I slept like a log anyway.

Very warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Full of traditional old english character. Food was great. Found the shower in the bathroom difficult to use, you had to get in the bath before you could turn it on and it wasn't adjustable.

Main hotel is very nice and traditional. Excellent food in the restaurant. The room was a bit small and ready for a bit of refurbishment.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel was busy, the staff remained attentive and thoughtful throughout. The lounge, bar and restaurant areas are very attractive: traditional, comfortable and appropriate for an "olde worlde" inn and location. The dinner and breakfast were excellent and the service, again, first rate. The chairs in the dining room did not suit those of us who tend to suffer from back pain.

Excellent location for touring Cotswolds. Great value for money. Friendly staff. Lovely open fire. Ideal for short break of 2-3 days. Very little sound insulation between rooms.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay. We paid a little extra and had room 11 which was very roomy and comfortable. The staff were always very friendly and usually very efficient. Karelina,Yana and the waitresses and bar staff were always very welcoming. The first two deserve special mention. We would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone. I was personally determined to stay there after reading some very negative reviews in which the uneven floors were quoted as a reason for not liking the place ...it is over 400 years old!!!! And sash windows which did not work...they did! And the WiFi did not operate in the room...so the lounge is more comfortable! And the room overlooked the main road and the car park....Close the double glazing....and keep your eye on your car..I Did. There are some silly people around! Thank you Unicorn...we had a wonderful stay in the Cotswolds. Chris and Grace Dursley We thought that the menu could have been changed. Although we were only there for three days we had explored all the dishes we would have wished....and I occasionally enjoy a vegetarian meal - there was only one dish from which to choose. The Prices in the restaurant and bar were the same..we though this was unfair as the restaurant provided privacy, linen napkins and service from individual waiters while the bar did not...hence the bar prices should be cheaper.

It surpassed our expectations given that it was rated as a 2 star - from the friendlygreeting in reception to the cleanliness of the room. The location is perfect, the hotel has character and adequate parking just across the road. We had a room with a view of a wall just outside, but as we were only there for one night it wasn't an issue.

The Unicorn was everything we expected except for the Staff who were outstanding! The young lady on reception and the very young bar/restaurant waitress ( both Polish, I think ) were exceptional. They were cheerful, helpful, friendly and efficient. Unfortunately we didn't find out their names. The owner, Chris Martin, was also worth mentioning for his 'hands-on' approach, being friendly without being over solicitous. All in all a very enjoyable hotel for a long weekend break!

Location of this hotel could not have been better, although there was no mention that it was right on a very busy junction of a main road. The hotel staff where superb and could not be faulted. The hotel its self was a little tired looking inside and out, the bedroom although quite large the furnishings where outdated and the bathroom was particularly small with only a shower cubicle. Breakfast was excellent, I think with some updating this hotel would be perfect for a weekend break.

we booked last minute for a mini break in the cotswolds so wasnt many hotels available to choose from. the staff upon arrival were lovely and couldnt help enough and the bar/restaurant areas were lovely and had the quaint village feel that we were looking for. the rooms were spotless although dated and tired but for the price we paid it was only to be expected and it was cleaned daily with fresh towels so we were more than happy with the hotel and would stay there again if we were to visit that region of the country again and i would definitely recommend it to family & friends.

“A lovely, comfortable, individual hotel in a beautiful, peaceful Cotswold village. The perfect place to explore the Cotswolds from after a very good English breakfast. The rooms were very clean and the beds as good as promised. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.” John, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot |
