We found The Unicorn difficult to fault in any way. Its staff were a great asset, and the general standard was good. The food was good and the evening meal option was excellent value for money. The location was ideal and the parking ground was an added bonus. Being an old coaching inn, it had not been overly modernised and it had a great deal of old world charm It would be tempting to say that the hotel was a little frayed around the edges, but this added to its charm. The one minor criticism was our bathroom, which was overly hot because we could not turn off the radiators and the floor was "interesting" when wet!

Liked the old world charm and the history of the building. Good breakfast and liked having free wifi and free parking. The bedroom furniture was a little worn out and our bathroom needed some maintenance.

This is a lovely hotel to stay in for a short break. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was excellent as was the bar food. I would definately stay here again, can't fault it really, and there was good parking also. Nothing

Staff were very friendly and the rooms were comfortable and the breakfast good. The hotel has its own Car Park which has a security barrier in place. The road noise in room 8, Even with double glazing it was very loud, the problem is that the room has one large window to the front and one smaller to the side and is located on a street corner beside a busy set of Traffic Lights . The rest of the rooms however along the front don't seem to suffer the same problem as they only have one window and are located further away from the lights.

Excellent position in Stow, close to town centre. Comfortable quite lounge, Really nice restaurant. Substantial breakfast, also a cold buffet breakfast. Friendly bar. All areas very clean, bed comfortable, cosy Inn ideal to return to after a day touring the beautiful Cotswold area Forgot to mention car park very handy in Stow. The weather was really fine and warm a joy after such an unrelenting winter, therefore my only tiny complaint is:- no beer garden.

Excellent location, attentive staff, good food. No control over bathroom heater so too warm but, leaving the window open meant being disturbed by town hall bells every 15 minutes.

The hotel was atmospheric with a lovely log fire in the bar. The bar staff were friendly and polite. the bar served local beers as well as the usual beers/lagers etc. The room was clean and warm. The shower was excellent and the bed comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on one of the 3 nights we stayed there and the meal was excellent and good value for money. There is a large car park opposite the hotel with secure parking and there is a light controlled crossing to get across the main road safely.

The old world feel. Position close to everything in Stow. I was away for a few days rest. All night a window or door banged every few minutes as it was blown by the wind. I had about 2 hours sleep and felt worse than when I arrived. I told receptionist (after looking fir her for 15 minutes to check out) and she said "There are no doors near that room"! Of course there were. I wasn't making it all up.

Character, coziness and cleanliness of the hotel. Friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Excellent breakfast and evening meals all very nicely presented and tasty. Good menu choices. TV in the room needs replacing. BBC not accessible and very difficult to open other channels. Disappointing in such an otherwise comfortable and welcoming hotel.

We really loved staying at the Unicorn, the staff are really friendly. The room was lovely, old English cottage style. But most of all the food was really excellent. We first wanted to eat in the restaurant but preferred to stay in their lovely, quirky pub. I am French, my husband is Italian so we love our food and we just loved our 2 dinners there - good, honest food - a delight. The only negative point would be that during the night we could hear the ceiling cracking ie when people above us were walking we could hear them and when they used the shower/toilets but apart from that the room was lovely and extremely clean.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. The hotel was olde worlde as we were looking for. Log fire was great. Food was very good and value for money On the main road and carpark was the otherside, so awkward to get luggage etc unloaded. Also no lift but it is an old building and I understand it may be difficult to install.

We liked everything - lounge, log fire bar, fishcakes, staff, interesting Georgian prints. Room 11 suited us very well, except the shower. See dislikes. We hope that the hotel proprietors will take note of the problem, and install a bathroom to modern standards.. The let-down was the shower over our bath. The screen had been broken, the mixer tap was difficult to get at and to control, the shower head was unsatisfactory, and the bath was dangerous to get in and out of. The floor was also a danger, with some of the tiles extremely slippery (not floor tiles). Worse, the shower arrangements were such that, however hard one tried a considerable amount of water ended up on the floor - enough to be a worry in case it might penetrate to the room below. There might one day be a serious accident.
