Score from 363 reviews Very good
Breakfast wasn't too bad but coffee could have been hotter.
At 7.00pm,after a 300+ mile drive,to be told that the chef had phoned in sick and there was no food available. Had to change room as toilet did not work.New room was not the cleanest. Went to the bar only to be told that it was closing at 8.15 as there was nobody in!!! Very overpriced.
breakfast was good. staff were helpful
price to high for room you get. standing in water when showering. room smelt all musty/damp
excellent breakfast evening menu good but very 80's very good parking
no wi-fi poor mobile reception dirty cups/mugs in room then none on second night loose taps and toilet seat
Nothing springs immediately to mind about this place.
No one on reception, had to go looking for someone. A very bad musty smell on entering the place which stayed with us and the fry - up breakfast was very poor. Handles on the room door were really loose. We feel bad posting this as the barman was very helpful after other guests pinched our taxi.
Couldn't use mobile in hotel had to go outside. No WiFi in room
the food was very good and i would recomend the dining to anyone. great service and v friendly also good value for money the steaks were were cooked perfectly to order and they were very helpful towards my pecular dietry needs.
the room was v cold the bed was clean and comfortable but was not made during the three days i was there.just the duvet pulled up over it.the underneath was left all rucked and uncomfortable.it let down the other part of the hotel which was well run and friendly also someone went into my bag which i dont like.
Staff were friendly in bar area
No welcome at reception Poor decor of room Noisy door in hallway, reported to hotel staff Would not have liked to stay another night
Staff really friendly, Beds comfortable, Breakfast standard Basic.
Kettle in room was full of black mould. staff exchanged it straight away for a new kettle. But no one said they were sorry not reception or housekeeping.will not stay there again you blew it for us.
friendly staff ,nothing was to much trouble , excellent breakfast
Food excellent, as was the service
Rooms old fashioned and basic.Although did include tea making facility & T.V. No WiFi network and had to go outside to use our mobile phones.
The hotel was not well kept up. Problems with damp coming through walls and very run down and broken facilities eg shower.
The pub grub (or 'restaurant') was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was ok. The drunks were entertaining...
It was like staying in a time warp motel from 1973... Door handles falling off, room contents resembled the stuff you see left in a field after a boot sale that nobody wanted to buy... Felt out of place in the bar as I wasn't topless with a thousand tatoos to show off. The Hotel's car/park field was hired out for a mod/scooter festival - we had a jam/ska/mod band playing outside our bedroom window till gone midnight, although in fairness they weren't bad.
Staff great arrived late but rang a head and no problem staff great a breakfast
Staff friendly nice bar.
Room looked tired wardrobe full of dust. Breakfast ok produce seemed cheap
The area its
Very uneven floors, bad mattress lumpy. No drinking water in room or fridge. Room advertised for disabled completely inappropriate impossible for person in electric wheelchair to move around or to use a hoist to get into bed.double bed plus a single bed was the problem. Had to then take a bigger room without suitable roll in bathroom. Also charged extra so felt very ripped off having to pay £80. All this having made two phone calls from Australia re our requirements for disabled room
Booking.com handling of the booking was very poor.
Nothing particular I can think of.
No staff on reception either on arrival or departure.Uncomfortable bed with springs protruding from mattress-I had to sleep on top of the duvet. Kettle lid broken. Washbasin to small to fill the kettle from.No shower cubicle, just a tray with curtain. Shower only dribbled. Needed to move loose dressing table mirror to draw curtains. Windowsill dirty. No double glazing, so had to endure stifling hot room or constant drone throughout the night of HGVs on the A52 outside. Hotel name completely misleading - Truckstop by the Trunkroad would have been more apt. I was lso unable to pay my bill on departure, as the only person I could find was the chef who spoke limited English, and despite waiting a further ten minutes, no-one came to attend to me, and I could wait no longer. The whole place is tired, shoddy and poorly run and represents extremely bad value for money. This is my first booking on your website, and if you wish to maintain your reputation, I suugest you remove this establishment from your list. It is probably one of the worst places of its type that I have ever stayed in.
We stayed sat night, no hot water on the night or sun morning. 5 of us ate on the sat night, it was steak night, 4 ordered steak, they came back to tell us there was only 1 steak available and when I asked if we could see the dessert menu we were told sorry but the chef went home at 9pm and the kitchens are now closed. Asked for raspberry jam on sun morning, sorry we have run out!!!! Kettle in room but no cups
Good location not far from A1 - nice break.
The staff were very helpful food was good. We stayed an extra night!
The shower, needs better wifi.
Almost no other customers.
Tired decor and general condition of accomodation. Reception floor has strange slope, maybe good for wheelchair users but disconcerting for walking upon.
Easy to find location , relaxed atmosphere
very poor phone signal inside building and no mattress/pillow protectors.the tea/ coffee facilities would have been better on a tray rather than leaving dirty spoons etc. on a painted surface .
Went here for price and location. The room was well decorated and certainly clean, staff friendly and helpful. For me as a business traveler it met my needs well.
Wifi was not good and needs improvement, only available is small corner of bar area.
A great full english breakfast
Kitchen closed by 8.30pm when I had advised we would like dinner on arrival. Being asked if we had booked when checking in despite there appearing to be only one other room sold that night! A tiny TV set with poor reception.
