design 1st floor lobby location cosy cool roof top bar with a great view
don't stay on the first floor, rooms have no windows (frosted windows that barely open)
Staff Room Location All excellent
Roof terrace closed early without notice on the night of our stay- we tried to go up and they had closed it all up although no problem with weather. Takes away one of main reasons for staying there.
Just spent one night to visit my daughter studying there, all the staff are very helpful and the breakfast is yummy.
A small entrance.
The staff were exceptionally helpful. The prime location next to the river /central to shops bars and restaurants
We feel that the room was not worth the £195 (discounted) paid despite it being an upgrade to the superior king room, the bed was large and comfortable but the rest of the room was fairly small and basic for the money. The balcony was nice but the view was of rooftops and a building site. We would also have expected a hot breakfast for the money, although the continental breakfast was good. We were very disappointed that the much talked about rooftop terrace bar closed for winter! There was no mention of this when booking or on the website. This was the main reason I picked this hotel over others for my husbands 50th birthday.
Location and good staff
Car valet service was very poor - as had to wait 45 min for car to be returned
Loved the view of the Cam from the bedroom - floor to ceiling window was stunning. Great touches like coffee and cafetière made hotel feel luxury. Sunday breakfast was very generous.
Comfortable room, cafetiere in the room, great bed, good tv, lovely roll top bath. Good meal at the River Bar where staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Public areas need a spuce up, would have liked to have been forewarned about the road closure. I stayed at a Premier Inn recently and they called ahead of my stay to discuss parking and how to access the hotel - this was greatly appreciated. This is an expensive hotel and I didn't feel that it quite delivered on it's 4 star rating.
Location was excellent, on the River Cam, within blocks of major shopping, restaurants and the University. The staff was first class, professional and exceptionally helpful. Superior breakfasts in their partner restaurant. This is a newer hotel with modern accommodations. Typically I've experienced that historic villages and cities have quaint but dated rooms and common areas. Don't get me wrong, the ambiance of historic properties offer a unique charm which we appreciate. But this location was a nice breather from the others during our 20 day English tour.
Have no complaints everything provided by the staff, room and location was above expectations.
I thought the team where excellent. It felt like a real treat.
Proximity to centre, friendly staff, nice room, great facilities for a hotel of its size and in Central Cambridge, wonderful rooftop bar, general ambience
Breakfast 'ok' but rather limited and the surcharges for a cooked breakfast are a bit outrageous, given the room rates; riverside bar lacks ambience; breakfast area rather cramped
Complimentary upgrade of the room was unexpected but lovely! Free use of the spa was good. Excellent location.
For the price, I would have expected a cooked breakfast to be included, as it is in most other hotels of this type and standard. The continental breakfast was fine but I was disappointed that I would have had to pay for a full English.
Very courteous, engaging and helpful staff. Valet parking worked well & was a good deal. Beautiful room, much more luxurious and comfortable than I'd expected. Really bright, fresh energy to the rooms too. Breakfast included & excellent. Stay in too many disappointingly mediocre places but this wasn't one of them - would very happily go back.
Foyer is a little dark and the lounge area in on the first floor - but the rest of the environment more than compensates.
Stylish modern British themed hotel with young friendly European staff in an excellent location. The Spa is a pleasant break from sightseeing. The valet parking worked flawlessly.
There was no wifi working at all. This was a significant downside. The staff were very casual about it. They didn't have adequate back up plan despite the fact they had been having problems with it for a while apparently. Also no herbal tea bags in the room. Overall not good enough for a hotel of this price.
Staff Cleanliness comfort convenience to town centre
The restaurant had limited choice for my elderly mother who can't eat spicy food.
Great staff, food, location, value
Good location, ample continental breakfast in the room rate. Room was individual, very welcoming and comfortable, although a little small. Good view. Roof terrace must be a spectacular place to enjoy a drink in summer.
Made our own parking arrangements as idea of valet parking and cost did not appeal. Going outside to reach restaurant for breakfast a little unusual but not a problem and explained by history of the building.
Dust balls by skirting boards, had to step around chatting staff in very pokey corridors. Ghastly wet room with tepid shower, ripped wallpaper , useless hairdryer and this was Super King Suite (room 417) ?
Loved the roof top bar, attentive & helpful staff and the complimentary tour of the city.
Paying for a full breakfast and an understaffed restaurant which made dinner a little disjointed.
Room was comfortable once we managed to get in. Location was excellent. Valet parking was excellent though at an extra charge.
Door lock that was difficult to open. Indifference of staff when I reported a loss of a watch. No offer to take my details. Staff not understanding clear English - had to keep repeating myself . Lack of drink choice on the roof terrace
Conveniently located in the heart of Cambridge. Wonderful views from the roof terrace.
Charming porter in bowler. Good valet parking. Beautiful view from terrace.
Everything! The rooftop terrace. The suggestions made by staff. The speed and politeness of the check-in/check-out process. The room was a good size and everything worked extremely well. The floor to ceiling window was a superb touch.
Honestly, there is not a single thing I would complain about. It struck the right balance on every front.
I have stayed here many times and its always been a very enjoyable experience. The location is amazing, the rooms extremely clean and spacious and the staff are some of the best I've come across in the hotel industry.
