Air conditioning wasn't working in our bedroom and made a noise all night long hence very little sleep. Bath plug broken, window didn't open in the bedroom and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. Overall, a very disappointing visit. Won't be visiting again.
Location was great, staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean, valet parking was a bonus
Quite pricey - £300 including car park and breakfast for 1 night. King room was very ordinary Beds were too firm View was poor
The view from the room the location
No lobby. Young staff nice but undertrained ,lack of experience . Only one small lift lounge room small on the first floor toilets on the second floor the worse being that on Saturday morning we have been waken up at 8.30 bu a man doong drilling in the room next door! Staff took time to make hom stopped Inbelievable !!!!!they apologised and offered us a cooked breakfast (the continental breakfast was already included )and the news paper that you normally pay for (that I never seen in this hotel category) and the valet parking that you alsp pay 20 pounds for a day.so for a night in a very small room we would have paid £230 and we paid £199 in February for a short night by the way Not great Our son will get married on Cambridge this summer we will not choose the Varsity I am afraid....
Room had lovely views over roof tops. Room service was excellent.
A beautiful classy contemporarily appointed hotel in an excellent location.
Friendly and efficient staff, excellent choice of continental breakfast . Large gym with good choice of equipement
Rooms are quite small
Liked just about everything
Would of liked a bar in the hotel
Fabulous upgrade on our room to one with a stunning terrace. Wonderfully helpful staff.
Staff were very welcoming, the hotel is very nice, clean, and has some good facilities, its also very close to Midsummer House Reastuarant, which is where we ate :)
We had a romantic weekend and ths hotel is in a good location. The only small spoiler being we only had enough hot water for one. However the manger took £30 off our bill which was a nice gesture. It's not cheap to stay and expected to have the cooked breakfast included for the price of £169 per night but on balance would probably stay again as a treat.
I guess the price but Cambridge has a consistent tourist trade so I guess this is how this price is determined.
Hotel facilities excellent Location great Spa and gym first class
Alarm in neighbouring office going off all night. Dustmen emptying bins before 7am which was very noisy and lasted over 10 minutes. Room Heating system which is not only difficult for guests to understand but struggles to maintain set temperature.
Gorgeous rooms with excellent facilities & wonderful staff!
Very friendly staff and interesting, comfortable rooms, in a hotel which avoids feeling corporate and impersonal, makes this the best bet for a stay in central Cambridge.
The continental breakfast that is included in the room rate does not live up to the quality of the hotel itself. It feels rather cheap and tired.
Stayed for the second time, this time in a smaller room. Had everything you needed and some nice surprises with topical magazines to browse and fresh coffee you could make yourself. Lovely shower and very comfy bed.
Breakfast is served in the adjacent building and is not part of the main building. Is a bit of a trek to find it but worth it. Can get very busy on weekend breakfasts but pleasant surroundings so wait is not too bad
Everything. the room was fantastic, we had a balcony, and enjoyed sitting out there, despite the fact it was feb. we were so lucky with the weather. customer service was amazing, breakfast lovely, within a few mins walk to the centre of Cambridge. If you are going by car, take the valet parking, seems a bit expensive, but cheaper than the multi story car park and so much more convenient. We will definitely be staying there again. Loved our weekend, and cannot wait to go back
We loved it all.
Nice clean rooms, comfortable bed, really good location, very friendly staff, very good deep tissue massage at the spa
The facilties are not of a 4★ hotel-no real bar (just a small area on the 1st floor with sofas where all the drinks are locked in the cupboard and you need to ring the bell for someone to come and unlock the drinks and serve you.. to get to the spa, breakfast area need to leave the building and go outside, turn the corner and enter another entrance. -spa facilties-very cold waiting/post treatment relaxing area. The whole point of the treatment is lost once you sit there -hot breakfast is not for free!!
loved the location, the size of the room and the kingsize bed. breakfast in our room was good but a bit pricey.
room was freezing . wooden floors didnt help. tried to sort air con but it went off half way through the night. woke up to a very cold room with even colder floors.
Loved the location - loved the views from my room - fabulous restaurant!
Helpful staff, the room and bathroom were lovely. Right in centre of town and breakfast in bed
Noise from the neighbor pub dumping empty bottel in bin at 1am. Garbage truck collecting said bottles at 5:30 am :-(
The location is exceptional, staff are very nice
Air conditioning didn't work and only forced out hot air, so was unable to sleep first night. Breakfast served outside of hotel and you must pay for hot portion of it. Was charged for newspapers each morning (without being told). Room exceptionally small considering the exorbitant room rates
Stayed at the Varsity for 1 night, booked a superior king room, have to say its the best hotel and room I have ever stayed in! Everything was so clean, our view was superb and the bed was really comfortable, nothing was too much for the staff who were simply excellent. My girlfriend and I will definitely be booking there again
Location fantastic Staff very helpful and friendly Room very comfortable Bathroom really clean Bar & Restaurant good Spa enjoyable
View not great would have liked chocolates replaced for 2nd night Bar was closed Friday lunchtime which was a shame because we had arranged to meet friends there. I think a cooked breakfast should have been included in price Paid for two newspapers but only received one
Great location, convenience of the Valet. Breakfast included. Very clean room.
Great location & very friendly staff
