Bedroom clean and tidy, breakfast extremely good and downstairs decor functionally rustic. Accomodating and helpful staff made up for noise problems.

The downstairs area turns into a late bar in the evening with banging DJ until well after midnight. Don't stay here if you're a light or early sleeper!

Nice hotel in a nice central part of town. Close to the bus & train stations and the Cathedral

No elevator although the staff helped us with our cases.

We were very impressed by the very friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. organising and helping with the safe storage of our bicycles seemed to be no problem at all for them. The spacious room and bathroom were much appreciated. Given the music in the bar on both nights, we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet our rooms remained. There was a well presented breakfast, with the usual cereal and fruit juice, but as a bonus a real fresh fruit salad. The freshly cooked to order hot dishes were great.

Smokers gathering outside of the main entrance used by the hotel guest, which would be hard to avoid with it being a pub. Perhaps moving them to the away from the guest entrance side to the other side of the pub main entrance might be worth considering, but it was really only a minor point.

Very loud music until midnight

Good value with a great pub. Everyone is extremely friendly and make you feel at home. Walking distance to everything.

Good central location within easy walking distance of good places to eat, site seeing and shopping. The bedroom room was bright and nicely decorated with good quality furniture and fittings. Good size very clean bathroom. Excellent , cooked breakfast. Free pass from vestry to park at rear of hotel from 6 pm to 10 am was very helpful.

The only real negative was the parking. When you are a stranger to the area it was difficult to find the car park at the rear of the Vestry, partly because of the one way system. Then having to wait until 10 am to pay for a days parking to last until 6 pm was not cheap, the only alternative a multi story car park back around the one way system,but who wants to keep moving the car unless you are going out in it for the day.

The hotel was very close to the train station and central to the city attractions. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the staff courteous and friendly and the breakfast excellent.

The occupants in the next room were exulting in a very loud rock concert from about 10 pm till I banged on the wall at 11:30 pm: very ill-mannered and selfish!

Disco music loud until 11.30 on a Tuesday. But once it had finished all was quiet.

We booked a room with a spa bath but it wasnt working or turned on, my partner has a really bad back and thats the reason we booked hotel with a spa bath, so we never got a spa bath after all. We were also told there would be live music on friday night which we like but there wasnt, and also where where the open log fires? So wont be coming again.

The location is excellent if you are travelling by train, as it is only 5 mins walk from the station. The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent. The staff were friendly and very efficient.

The room was noisy with the bass notes from the bar below but all this changed at closing time and thereafter was quiet.

Room was right above the main enterance, and while web site says live bands on saturdays, it does not say house dj blaring bass tunes that vibrate through the rooms above the bar, and hoards of screaming drunk teens out side your window until after midnight, plus the windows did not close properly so noise was insane, disgustingly noisey in the room.....do not stay here on a saturday night.

Beds/linens were clean, but the room and bathroom needed a good cleaning

Clean City - good shops - cathedral - the Vestry a comfortable and friendly place to stay.

Excessively noisy nightclub on site until 12.30am preventing any kind of sleep until early hours. Live music was advised as being on friday nights but wasn't aware it would be saturday also

The room was very clean and well kept? The staff friendly And helpfull.

The reception being part of the bar was a bit of a shock. It was very difficult to find and also the parking.

The staff were friendly, the room was clean, breakfast was superb.

It was like sleeping above a night club, whilst were we warned about the possible live music it stated that it finished at midnight. On arrival we were told that the license was until 2am. To be fair the music did stop at 1am. Sorry but it would put us off staying again-although don't be put off if your young enough to join in.

Convenient to bus station rail station &shopping. Friendly & helpful staff, Excellent breakfast cooked while you wait,also plenty of uncooked alternatives.

The loud music coming from the bar/ disco area until late at night, which seemed to take place most nights.
