We booked a superior double room and it was fab. Immaculate, comfortable and spacious. Our breakfast the following morning was delicious too.
The evening meal was excellent, with local ingredients.Nothing was to much trouble for the attentive staff.Breakfast was a good selection
We did send an email regarding early check in but never received a reply, staff were unsympathetic to us arriving early. It would of been better if their attitude on arrival was not a case your rooms not ready do one and come back later instead of your welcome to make yourself comfortable in the guest sitting room or enjoy a drink in the bar until we are ready for you
Our room was nicely decorated and the bed was really comfy, the bedding and towels were really nice and clean. The open log fire in the bar was gorgeous to relax beside in the comfy chairs and sofas. Nothing was too much bother for the staff who were attentive.
The food at lunchtime was quite pricey and we found the quality did not match the cost.
The whole experience was warm and relaxed.
Very friendly staff
Wifi didn't work in bedrooms
Kitchen, cleaning, bar and greeting staff were very polite and helpful Food and atmosphere was lovely
Request for a double bed was ignored and ended up with singles Shower was unusable, either scalding hot or freezing cold, drunk member of maintainance came to check the shower and basically said there was nothing he could do, no alternative room was offered Bathroom constantly stunk of cigarettes, not pleasant when your a non smoker. Staff smoking point must have been below the bathroom window
The hotel was warm and staff friendly - the weather was exceedingly cold & it was good that the heating compensated for this! Like the homely atmosphere with dogs and children.
Thought the resident's lounge was a somewhat uninviting area. The only place where I could get a mobile signal was the car park! The free wifi is welcomed but the rooms where it can be used are inconvenient. Coffee served with breakfast was v gd but so disappointing when served from the bar area to my five guests!! The duty staff agreed that this was so - it is well known that coffee lovers hate the type of machine used in the bar.
It was very cold in the bar and restaurant area. Need to wear jackets while eating our meal
Location very good , comfortable room and bed and a very nice breakfast served off friendly staff .
Only downside was no wifi in room
Staff helpful, pleased to see dogs were welcome - we hadn't taken ours this time. Water plentiful and hot. Good choice of beer, bit pricey for average wine. Enjoyed fish and chips and fabulous pudding for tea, 2 mains, puds and bottle of wine around £68. Quality toilet roll, something many 4 star hotels are lacking! Would happily stay again, we were in a superior room £90 B&B, but would ask for one with a view if poss, as the hotel website shows these rooms with a great view of the castle, and we were disappointed after building our expectations up!
In middle of re-furb in public areas, bit too modern for my liking, and not in keeping with the beautiful old building. Not reached the bedrooms yet - but they are clean and bed was comfy! TV remote was dirty & grotty, bathroom a bit tatty, tops off tap missing and plug-holes rusty, cheap paper cups did let it down, but as I say they are refurbishing! Breakfast arrived and was only tepid, even the beans in their little pot were lukewarm, but I could have sent it back, it was my choice not to, am just commenting on our experience!
Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is excellent. Bar is cosy.
Evening meal was very disappointing. Food did not seem fresh - particularly the vegetables and especially one very dubious carrot (!) and the meal lacked any care - dry mash, overcooked in places. Although nice room was VERY cold and the interior door did not close properly.
Location ideal food in restaurant was faultless service of staff was very friendly nothing too much trouble
Small point but wifi only available downstairs would have liked free wifi in bedrooms also
Made feel very welcome Beautiful room Great location
Location,staff and food
Our room was cold and the bathroom uncomfortably cold.We would stay again but only if an electric heater was supplied.
The hotel was clean and tidy with friendly helpful staff. They do have a park further down the road but forgot to tell us.
Wi-Fi in public areas only and not in the rooms its 2015 not the 80's. The restaurant is over priced and the portion size's where small especially if you get a sweet. Their are plenty of other places to eat a short drive away that proved much better value.
The only downside was WiFi wasn't available in the bedrooms
Room a bit chilly, but staff provided a small heater, which was good. Free WiFi in room would be a bonus.
The location was good and the staff helpful and polite .The food was of a good quality.
Our room was dark not a lot of natural light as a double room it was two twin beds pushed together so had a gap down the middle not the most comfortable .The dining room was freezing we had to ask to move tables to be closer to the radiator when we where having a meal .Tried to have a pint and read the papers in the sports bar next to the log fire but had to give up as the smoke from the fire came back into the room rather than up the chimney (needs sweeping) ,No tomato sauce at breakfast on Monday no excuse as the shop was only a stones throw fro the front door . We want be staying at the Victoria Hotel in the future any time soon.
Booked for one night to celebrate my partners birthday. Hotel in excellent location, love Bamburgh. Great value comfy bar very friendly staff.
Comfortable room Quiet Close to the Castle Staff were friendly
The only minor complaint was that it was too hot and we had to wedge the window open as it wouldn't stay open!
centre to everything in the village, very comfy and welcoming,
The area. The room was very comfortable with an excellent view of the castle.
Great location, Clean comfortable room, Wonderful food.
Poor wifi coverage
Staff were lovely and the fire with the leather chairs was so nice after being out walking all day. They allow dogs too which is fab. Bed was really comfy.
For the price you expect the rooms to be super clean. Bedding was clean but bathrooms were in need of a decent once over. Just a bit tatty but you could forgive that for it's charm if it were clean.
