In the centre of Alnwick, this 300-year-old coaching inn is a short walk from Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Its restaurant’s decor was salvaged from the Titanic’s sister ship.

Booked 4 rooms for a family group as a prelude to a wedding. Rooms were comfortable and clean.
Only there one night so did not sample food.
Everything, especially location and size of the room!
Carrying luggage to room, but the room more than made up for that!
Very good value for money. Superb location. Bar food very good. Very comfortable room. Good welcome from reception.
There was one man serving on the bar. I felt sorry for him as he seemed frazzled and the bar was too busy for just one member of staff. However, he was particularly rude and there was no need for this. Service at breakfast was not good. No one explained how breakfast worked which is pretty much standard for most hotels.
Superior twin room
noisy wardrobe doors
lovely hotel near the village green, friendly staff, comfy room, delicious breakfast, many thanks!
noisy kids in the bar/restaurant
Excellent location, couldn't be better in actual fact. Breakfast was faultless, with plenty of choice, both cooked and continental etc. Even had a TV celeb sitting beside us, though no clues as to who. Yes, I'm a tease!! Lol
The hotel, although clean, was a little tired and perhaps in need of a refresh in terms of decor etc. Only stayed the one night, which helped given the bathroom was very small. That said, very practical and adequate.
The location is great within walking distance of the caste. The food in the restaurant was pretty good as was the breakfast.
When we arrived the staff around the desk (there was a group) seemed confused and made me feel I was interrupting. They had to get someone else to check me in. We had to put our bikes outside by the dustbins even though there seemed to be other covered storage areas available. The room was small an dim and looked over a dirty roof. The bathroom was old and not very clean. Avoid, avoid.
Easy to find and handy for shops. Short walk to the castle. Room was comfortable and clean but a little noisy from morning deliveries to the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, made us feel welcome.
Parking was a short walk away but not marked very well. I initially parked outside an apartment block and could have been clamped had the residents not warned me. Hotel food was good but quite expensive.
Good clean hotel. Excellent food & good value for money. Breakfast first class.
We were thrilled with everything - it was clean, friendly and breakfast was delicious. All the staff were helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
Nothing - it was just perfect for us.
Position of Hotel in centre of Bamburgh, Friendly Staff Good Breakfast OK Evening Meals Alloted Car Parking Space
No lifts Average room - couldn't open window wide enough in hot weather No air conditioning
This Hotel is in a great location, food was very good ,staff very helpfull.Would recommend to others.
Decoration in the rooms were a bit dark, could have been a bit brighter.
food was expensive and mediocre
The hotel was ideally located for our needs (a short break whilst we explored Eastern Northumberland). It was reasonably quiet and the staff were, generally, polite and helpful. The food was generally good and well presented although a few 'specials' or variations would significantly improve an otherwise fairly limited menu.
Our room (12), although spacious and reasonably comfortable, was very tired in its décor and furnishings. For London prices we expected better. The TV worked intermittently and internet access in the room was virtually non existent (not much better in public areas).
Great location for exploring this area. Friendly welcoming staff. Restaurant provides fabulous food. Breakfast choices excellent and the freshly cooked food is perfect. Our room was clean and comfortable. Excellent shower! All in all a great hotel to have as a base for exploring this are
Location Nice dining room Good breakfast Very quiet at night Comfortable bed
Some parts of the hotel were a bit shabby, particularly the carpets Bedroom needed some redecoration
Friendly staff in food areas
Room signage can be improved or better still could be escorted to room .
Location and comfort.
Evening staff were offhand and not particularly helpful. Young girls, chatting among themselves.
Location, good value for money
Noise and smell of the kitchen ventilation, not the best position to fix the televisionset on the wall, reception could be a bit more friendly.
Location Very comfortable beds
5 minute walk to car park. When raining this is no joke Restaurant were not interested in what their responsibilities were. They were very poorly managed. We were revised a table on our first day, following a very long tiring journey. Wrong food was bought to our table, but what we did have was very enjoyable. Domestic staff did not clean the room properly. Television did not work properly - poor reception. No lift - a long walk to our room carrying heavy bags etc. Kitchen made a lot of noice first thing in the morning and late at night
Location of hotel for exploring surrounding area. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The restaurant was well appointed. Had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the first night and found that the food was of a good standard.
General decor, carpets etc in hotel are looking a bit tired. Hotel would benefit from a refurbishment of rooms.
Very convenient location for access to local sights and amenities.
No WiFi access in rooms.
Small room, needs a bit of TLC
The position of hotel room was very good food was excellent staff were very good it small friendly hotel would recommend a stay ther
