In the centre of Alnwick, this 300-year-old coaching inn is a short walk from Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Its restaurant’s decor was salvaged from the Titanic’s sister ship.
Score from 303 reviews Very good
The room was above an extractor fan which was on constantly, and also made the room very hot. I also ordered a meal of prawns and cod, which hadn't been cooked properly, prawns were still raw in the middle.
Friendly, helpful staff. Very comfortable and relaxing.
Excellent location, comfortable quiet bedroom. Good bar food.
Wasn't aware on booking that the hotel didn't have a lift - we were on the top floor ! Cooked breakfast was good but not served hot enough.
The position of the hotel. Breakfast very good, set us up for the day
The amount of steps we had to go up, as we are in our late 70s and early 80s
The Hotel the staff were brilliant
staff were very pleasant and helpful nothing was a trouble. The meals we had in hotel were excellent and would highly recommend a visit.
Nothing to dislike.
the location was excellent.
the food could have been better,on the first morning of our stay i sent my breakfast back as it was cold.
The Victoria naturally benefits from its location in one of the most attractive villages in a beautiful and charming part of the Northumberland coast, but in itself it is a very good hotel. We had a very spacious room, even though it was not one of the most expensive category. Breakfast was good in a pleasantly airy dining room.
Lovely position, friendly, good restaurant, would go back
Everything was so great the food was great and all the members of staff was friendly.
There was nothing to dislike
The staff were very friendly and attentive Good food and decent bar
The reception is a bit odd and often unmanned
Booked 4 rooms for a family group as a prelude to a wedding. Rooms were comfortable and clean.
Only there one night so did not sample food.
Everything, especially location and size of the room!
Carrying luggage to room, but the room more than made up for that!
Very good value for money. Superb location. Bar food very good. Very comfortable room. Good welcome from reception.
There was one man serving on the bar. I felt sorry for him as he seemed frazzled and the bar was too busy for just one member of staff. However, he was particularly rude and there was no need for this. Service at breakfast was not good. No one explained how breakfast worked which is pretty much standard for most hotels.
Superior twin room
noisy wardrobe doors
lovely hotel near the village green, friendly staff, comfy room, delicious breakfast, many thanks!
noisy kids in the bar/restaurant
The variety of breakfasts was good however we did have to wait as they did forget my partner's breakfast once! Coffee was cold once too and they forgot to bring us milk! It's a hotel for dogs and 30 out of the 37 rooms are for dogs which is good now that we are dog owners ourselves
The springy creaky floors and the wall shook every time someone walked by or closed their bedroom doors. I think it was a study wall! We had to complain on arrival as our room hadn't been cleaned properly as there were a pair of socks n a headband in the top drawer as well as feathers stuck to the wall and black scuff marks!!
Excellent location, couldn't be better in actual fact. Breakfast was faultless, with plenty of choice, both cooked and continental etc. Even had a TV celeb sitting beside us, though no clues as to who. Yes, I'm a tease!! Lol
The hotel, although clean, was a little tired and perhaps in need of a refresh in terms of decor etc. Only stayed the one night, which helped given the bathroom was very small. That said, very practical and adequate.
Clean and comfortable
Breakfast was nice but cracked cup and staff nowhere to be seen, think they had gone for own breakfast. Some items of breakfast where forgotten and we had to ask.
The location is great within walking distance of the caste. The food in the restaurant was pretty good as was the breakfast.
When we arrived the staff around the desk (there was a group) seemed confused and made me feel I was interrupting. They had to get someone else to check me in. We had to put our bikes outside by the dustbins even though there seemed to be other covered storage areas available. The room was small an dim and looked over a dirty roof. The bathroom was old and not very clean. Avoid, avoid.
Nice little hotel, convenient and friendly staff. Rooms nice clean and warm. No car park but easy enough to get parked nearby. Very good value for money.
No lift!! There is no mention of the lack of lift on booking.com or on booking details I received (just checked). Our rooms were located on second floor which was something an issue for my elderly mum. Hotel very good about resolving problem but I think they must assume one would be expected in a two storey hotel and make it clear they don't have one.
Glorious location. Very clean bed linen, towels, bathroom. Stylish dining room serving mansize portions of well cooked food
Two rooms in which we stayed ( standard twin) looked onto a kitchen extractor fan which hummed until after 9.30pm - fanning cooking smells (frying)into the rooms.
Easy to find and handy for shops. Short walk to the castle. Room was comfortable and clean but a little noisy from morning deliveries to the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, made us feel welcome.
Parking was a short walk away but not marked very well. I initially parked outside an apartment block and could have been clamped had the residents not warned me. Hotel food was good but quite expensive.
Good clean hotel. Excellent food & good value for money. Breakfast first class.
We were thrilled with everything - it was clean, friendly and breakfast was delicious. All the staff were helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
Nothing - it was just perfect for us.
