In the centre of Alnwick, this 300-year-old coaching inn is a short walk from Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Its restaurant’s decor was salvaged from the Titanic’s sister ship.

friendly restaurant staff
Staff Comfort Food Value for money Location
Poorly behaved dog while trying to eat dinner
the location on the high street with the beautiful view of the castle in front on you.
Friendly staff, great location and tasty breakfast.
Room smaller than last time and general lack of attention to detail
staff food cleanliness castle and beach Great base to see other places. We visited lindisfarne and seahouses
a bit quiet in the evening but that may have been due to the time of year
Beautiful location with lovely views of Bamburgh Castle Good food and friendly staff
Not much really , only gripe was requested an iron and board from reception but it never turned up !
Friendly staff,location,good food.
Says free wi fi on adds ,but it is only available in the public areas not in the rooms.
The beach was only a stones throw away and you can walk for miles.
We had room 42 which was very spacious and had an amazing view of Bamburgh Castle. We were able to park right outside of the hotel and leave our vehicle for the whole weekend. The staff (particularly in the restaurant and bar area) were very helpful and friendly. We've already recommended the hotel to a number of people and would definitely book it again should we return to the area.
Room was bigger than expected with a great view of the castle. Staff very friendly, food and drink v.good.
The staff were extremely helpful itch a complex booking in issue and generally throughout the stay.
Great location, good food, excellent staff.
Nothing to dislike
breakfast was delicious staff friendly (bar and breakfast) bed was comfortable good location
room tiny room not clean (cobwebs hanging off the ceiling lol) behind the bed was filthy room furniture well past its sell by date staff on the reception desk seemed very casual and not that friendly compared to the rest of the staff too many stairs and no lifts
Beautiful place food excellent.
Room to hot
food good , excellent choice at breakfast
room a little small couldn't stand up in shower . attic room
It's looking a little shabby.
Very expensive, both food and accomodation
Being on holiday with our dog for the first time - he was made very welcome and was allowed in the bar areas with us at all times.
The staff were polite and the bedroom was fine.
On arrival we were told there was a folder with information, including the dinner menu, in our room; there was not. A letter, addressed to us and clearly marked with the date of our arrival was not given to us. When I phoned the friend with whom we were to stay the next day, he told me that this letter had been sent. I then went to reception and after some rooting around, it was found: it had been opened! The dinner was poor; the red snapper which we both ordered was inadequately cooked and almost inedible. My wife's vegetable soup was very poor. At breakfast the kipper I ordered had none of the trimmings stated on the menu; not what one expects from an AA starred restaurant. The absence of hotel parking on a very wet evening was a problem.
Quality of staff at the bar
Main receptionist - needs more management skills
I arrived at breakfast before the allotted time but it was no problem to the kitchen staff. All staff were very friendly and the hotel has a comfortable ambiance.
The view of Bamburgh Castle from bedroom window. Bar staff helpful Good food at reasonable price.
Rather rude manager who complained that our motorcycles were causing an obstruction when they clearly were not. He was just being grouchy but it tarnished our experience there.
Location, service friendly
Disappointed with room, paid extra for superior but room was very worn and tired have stayed before previous room was much better, was birthday weekend but will look elsewhere next year
I should have parked in your carparking space!
