Staff were pleasant and very helpful.Breakfast was acceptable . Two words best describe this hotel........shabby chic. The whole hotel needs decorating. The bedrooms appointed to us were not super single rooms but standard doubles. There were cracks everywhere, wallpaper coming of the walls and cracks in the cups etc on the welcome tray.In the brasserie the ceiling lighting was filthy...cobwebs everywhere.

Location - room was fine but lots of stairs! The staff were a bit inattentive - nothing bad in particular to note but I feel that nobody made an extra effort to make you feel welcome which was slighly disappointing.

Friendly staff, comfortable room, good en suite facilities and a lovely breakfast Our room (3) overlooked the very noisey kitchen extractor fan - we did ask to move but the hotel was full and the rooms available elsewhere were more costly. The fan did go off at just after 10pm but came on again at 7am waking both of us up. Other than that a great stay at a grat hotel.

Nice quiet hotel, pleasant decor. When we checked out the lady at reception tossed an invoice at us and said nothing. We thought she was giving us a receipt so we said thankyou and went to leave presuming our bill would be charged to my credit card. She then said we would have to pay. It would have saved confusion if she asked us how we would like to pay when she tossed the invoice at us. She also said this happens all the time so even more reason to be communicative.

Location was beautiful, Bamburgh Castle was an amazing site and the beach was gorgeous. We had the last room available and the door lock on the inside of the door looked like it had been forced open as the wood was spilit, needless to say we didn't feel that secure, it was only for one night though.

Comfortable room with good shower room, excellent food for dinner and breakfast; can recommend the locally caught lobster! Towels were a bit threadbare and needed replacing/ upgrading for a hotel as good as this

A very comfortable hotel with friendly and efficient service. The food in the brasserie was excellent and very good value for money. Wish that there had been more real ales on offer in the bar.

Excellent fare and bar. Not their fault but I found I could not get an o2 signal on my phone or on the internet.

The bedroom was fine, quite comfotable and the breakfast was nice- good that there was a vegetarian option. There was a disco at 8.30 on the Saturday night, which meant it was way too noisy for us to use the bar our restaurant- an unpleasant surprise. The beds were very narrow.

Excellent value for money for a business traveller on A1 looking for an overnight stop. Not far from A1 but without the noise for traffic that the roadside hotels have, excellent cooked breakfast, warm room. Checked in at nearly 11pm without an issue.

It's in a wonderful part of the country, it was warm, cosy and the beds were sumptuous, lovely open fires in the bar really made the atmosphere welcoming.

Bistro very romantic in the evening, tastefully decorated. Position of the hotel - beautiful setting We were not told that we did not have a front door key or indeed that we needed one. We were not told that the hotel would be locked after 11pm. We were out with friends at the neighbouring hotel and came back before midnight to find we were locked out. Knocking (banging) on the front door did not raise anyone. There was no night porter (we did not know). The barman at the other hotel had to call the Victoria as neither me or my husband had a mobile reception to call. The waiter / porter opened the door for us. We were not impressed - now very cold, well over 20 minutes later. It rather ruined a nice evening. Had we been told by the recpeionist then this could have been prevented. She explained in the morning that it was a 2* hotel therfore did not have a night porter. I didn't think the price of the stay reflected a 2* hotel. There was no offer of a discount for our upset. I was also not impressed that the menu offered some extremely lovely local cheeses and one of the cheeses was a blnad plastic cheese, when we asked the waiter (/porter) he confirmed that it was indeed not what it said on the menu - this is not good and dishonest.I Would think twice about staying here again.

Good location, close to castle and beach. Good breakfast. Generally friendly and helpful staff. Tired and dingy corridors led to our standard double room. This was above the kitchen and unbearably hot, even with the heating off and the window open. At 7am the kitchen extractor fan went into action outside the bedroom window. At £110 per night the room was overpriced. The food at the New Years Eve (£65 per head) dinner was mediocre and poor value. There was some decent entertainment provided by the waitress though. When I enquired of the foul smelling (and tasting)ingredients of the tapenade that accompanied the solitary crab/potato cake, she replied she would go and ask the chef. She returned with the reassuring news that it was 'tapenade'. She was able to top that a short time later however when she returned with the main course. I had ordered duck and there it surely was, on a plate, 'Chicken?' she announced. Classic Fawlty Towers. A final word for the lady on 'reception'. It really is ok to say 'Hello. Welcome', or similar on arrival and maybe 'Hope you enjoyed your stay', or similar on departure. Although, she won't, sadly, be getting the chance of saying either to me.

The location was good. The bedroom we had was adequate but small and the pillows were atrocious but it was clean and the bathroom was excellent. It was ground floor and thus a security issue if windows were opened but we chose that and then found no air conditioning system!. The staff were reasonably friendly except in the restaurant where it seemed to be my fault that someone had given away our table on New Years Eve and we were consigned to a spare which had to be laid up with a lot of "tutting" and sighing The breakfasts were excellent. The room price for B&B was very fair. The value for money on New Year's Eve was appalling. They made a charge of £65 per head for a three course meal which was cold, of poor quality and badly served. My main course was inedible and was changed to some bland fish dish which was apparently straight out of a packet. We ate quite late and found some items were simply not available. The options were not in accordance with their description. No wine or other drink was included in a price which I would have expected to pay in a quality London or big City restaurant. The crackers seemed to be the chepest they could find. For example, a plastic paper clip was a gift in one and a miniture plastic frog in another. I was told that the staff did not like party poppers because "they made a mess and were difficult to vacuum up". These issues were raised the following morning with (I believe) a duty manager when I was told that a few others had also complained on a similar basis but no recompense was offered. I received the "Sorry about that" routine. Sadly, the other Hotel in the Village was closed for refurbishmnet and thus there was no competition which allowed the Victoria to do what it liked. They should have told guests exactly what to expect for their money. Disgraceful and unforgiveable profteering in my view.

Lovely spacious room. Great location. Our sleep was disturbed by a previously set wake up call. The receptionist didn't offer a hint of apology.

The room was well appointed and very warm - in spite of the bitterly cold wind. The Craster Kipper at breakfast was also superbly cooked. The staff were generally disorganised and service of a minimal standard - I appreciate it was between Xmas and New Year, but I am not sure I would go back.

The fact they allow dogs to stay in all areas mostly. The bedroom was smelling unpleaseant on arrival, we opened the windows to freshen the room. The noise from vehicles, and the extractor fans directly below and alongside the room was noisy.
