The Victoria Hotel  

Friendly and approachable staff. Superb breakfast including a vegetarian full cooked breakfast. Comfortable bed and clean room. Light and airy restaurant. Very competitive prices and not at all pretentious like some places can be. Really great location. Parking was on street but no problem and the hotel had additional places in an adjacent car park anyway. Would really like to stay again.

Room 24a had good views to the coast and was pretty quiet, being at the top of the hotel. Natural light bathroom. Comfy bed. Pleasant enough breakfast. Centre of the village. All as expected.

TV aerial cable needs to be secured. Not tip top decor in the room but had a bit of character and not tip top prices either.

The staff and food were both outstanding. Alex changed our room for us at 1.30am, without hesitation or problem. Very close to the beach and castle. Hotel has handy designated parking area. General atmosphere of hotel was very relaxed and friendly, whilst maintaining professionalism. Dog friendly hotel.

Beds too soft for our liking, found it very hard to settle even after changing rooms. Wi - Fi didn't connect in the room, however smart phone connectivity was not the focal point of my holiday.

Communal facilities - restaurant, bar etc very good

Bedroom very small and the beds were very uncomfortable - linen and bedding absolutely fine but mattress and base terrible

Very friendly staff. Excellent food both in the brasserie and breakfast. Cant fault the location, food or service from the staff who were lovely.

I booked a superior double but asked for a change of room as the original room had a shower not a bath. The replacement room (11) was comfortable but the bathroom is in need of serious tlc. Mould around the bath tiles and very badly scratched bath surface plus the hot water tap centre on the sink was missing. I hope the hotel are in the process of upgrading rooms?!! ...It was a base for a weekend so we put up and shut up!

Expensive meals (although comparable with other local pubs / restaurants), lack of wifi in bedrooms, bedside lamp did not work (? new bulb needed), tv remote needed new batteries, large cobweb from wall to curtain, overpriced (considering size of room, lack of wifi etc)

The room was not that clean, cobwebs and grouting in shower was tired cracked and not clean at bottom. The restaurant menu was pricey and the food quality did not reflect the high price

The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a room with a four poster bed. The room was clean and tidy. The food was excellent. The hotel is in a central location for exploring the local area.

I shared a room with my granddaiughter while my daughter had a room with my 7 week old grandson.The check in and out were speedy.The staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming especially with my granddaughter. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. The breakfast choice was very good and the food was excellent. My grandughter had a boiled egg and soldiers all cut up for her.

My grandughter thought the pillows wer too big? I think she meant too high for her, otherwise absolutely nothing I did not like.

The staff were excellent: friendly, polite and helpful. It was a busy weekend and they seemed to be working non-stop. They were happy to offer us a different room when the first one didn't suit us.

The hot water for showering was variable in the morning. We had a standard room which was really quite small and we felt a bit overpriced for what we actually got.

Breakfast was not up to scratch for the quailty of accommodation I have had better in lower graded accommodation. A few more touches would have added to a better experience.

Staff were excellent; very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate my brother who had two carers with him. The food was delicious and the location superb. Would definitely return.

Booking.com had informed the hotel there was 7 of us not 5. However the hotel managed this well.

We were upgraded on arrival which was a pleasant surprise. We appreciated the extra heater in the room as the weather was exceptionally cold.

Coffee at breakfast on the first morning was only lukewarm and weak. I had tea the following morning. The shower in the bathroom of room 14 needs some attention.

The location of the hotel was excellent. Our room overlooked Bamburgh Castle and was well appointed and comfortable. Easy access to the Church, beach and the castle, all within a short walking distance. It is a good location to tour up and down the coast from. Up to Lindisfarne and down to Seashouses e.g.

Unfortunately our stay was cut short because one of our party fell ill after dining on our first night with severe sickness and diahorrea. We suspected it was food poisioning and advised the staff accordingly. Food is batch cooked and on this occasion we believe it may not have been adequately reheated. Whilst staff seemingly made the right moves to check that no-one else was affected etc. we felt that they took it very lightly and with slight derision. In hindisght we feel we should have taken samples etc. to have them checked but it's difficult to think about that when someone is so ill (at one point consideration was given to an ambulance being called).
