Fading, aged decor Dirty windows, which spoiled the amazing view Coffee was terrible
I am afraid I can not give you a rating for Staff, Facilities, Location etc, much as I would like to do, as each section is filled by some foreighn language or symbol so it is not possible to guesss which section means high or low. Please remove and I will attend willingly. Thank you.
Hotel location. Friendly an exceptionally helpful staff. Room lovely. Great views. Breakfast delicious !
Lovely view from bedroom and dining room
Good WiFi in room. Good heating system and room cleaned daily. View from dining room class. Staff friendly enough, especially the Romanian girls. Restaurant food good.
Single bed to small for a big chap. Years worth of dust on top of wardrobe. Not used to being asked pay for several days up-front. (Is this a new policy). Parking on main drag with no alternative.
Great hotel..Very friendly, staff were excellent..Lovely seaview room, comfortable with lots of extras. Food was excellent too, specially breakfast.Would always head here when returning to Rothesay!
Internal stairs a wee bit daunting but after a couple of trips, got used to them, certainly would'nt stop me returning...
The location is beautiful. Room very comfortable. Some of the staff were outstanding. Breakfasts were delicious. Waitress staff were fantastic.
En route to Rothesay I became ill with respiratory problems. These problems worsened during our 1st night there and an ambulance had to be called. My partner tried to alert the night watchman by calling the night staff phone number. After more than 10 attempts without the call being answered at all she gave up. We were trying to alert hotel that the ambulance crew were coming and that we had to leave the main door and our room door unlocked to allow them access. Also that we were not going to be in the building. My sudden illness was obviously no fault of staff and I was not expecting any special treatment. However we were a little disappointed that no offer of assistance was forthcoming on arrival to help carry bags upstairs to our room despite my clear breathing difficulties. Receptionist barely looked up from her computer screen as we checked in. The morning after my hospitalisation the owner asked my partner if she'd had a good sleep! Clearly he hadn't been informed that during the night a guest had been carried down three flights of stairs wearing an oxygen mask! The waitressing staff were all excellent! Reception staff and night staff totally let the side down. In fact these staff might as well have been at home with their feet up!!
The staff are all very friendly and very helpful. The waitresses who serve breakfast need a special mention as they couldn't do enough to make your breakfast experience anything but a pleasure.
The only thing that I can say is the toilet bowl is too close to the bath.
The hotel was good to stay it. It's a little like Rothesay, with a slightly faded charm, but nicely located and with good staff. A nice view of the bay too.
Wifi on third floor sometimes cut out. I fixed it by restarting the wireless router in the third floor hall, but perhaps a new router is in order. Wifi on first floor was fine.
The food was very good especialy breakfast and the service was great.
Our stay in the Victoria Hotel over the New Year period was without exception First Class in all catogries from the cleanliness of the hotel to the excellent food and the genuine frendliness of the staff, without doubt the 'Victoria Hotel' runs to the highest standard on the Island of Bute.
FRIENDLY STAFF //SUPERB VALUE
Did what it said on the tin - can't complain, staff nice and friendly into the bargain. View from the breakfast table was fantastic - breakfast wasn't bad either.
Location and great breakfast
Wifi not great on 3rd floor. No elevator to 3rd floor.
Welcome, restaurant for dinner and breakfast, bar lounge, cleanliness. Just opposite the ferry.
WiFi only in the public areas.
Location of hotel ie opposite main port and tourist area. Easy access from Glasgow. Charming hotel in charming seaside town. Good service and excellent breakfast. Perfect porridge served with honey and cream. Easy walks along the beach front to the sounds of birds and the taste of sea air. Opportunities to fish. Friendly people everywhere.
Some people will dislike the stairs.
Excellence all round
The staff were very attentive. The room was spotless and the bathroom and all the requisites well presented. Breakfast was excellently prepared and plentiful.
Nothing at all: highly unusual in any hotel stay.
Rooms clean, warm, comfortable. Breakfast excellent, served by a delightful waitress. The restaurant served a cullen skink which was out of this world. The views over the bay were lovely. Staff were all very welcoming and cheerful.
Excellent location. In September, we were easily able to park outside. It might be harder in peak season. We ate out one night at a nearby italian restaurant but the evening meal in the hotel was excellent. There is a beautiful view from the restaurant and the rooms at the front of the hotel.
There is no lift so you have to lug your bags upstairs. Our room at the back was very hot and you cannot open the windows very far. but we were moved on our request.
