A unique gem hidden in an unremarkable town but within easy reach of Manchester and in my case relatives... The owner and staff where superbly friendly and helpful, keen to make our stay as special as the location. The unique, warm rooms are a joy if you like antiques and romantic furnishings and the individually prepared breakfasts very enjoyable. This place is obviously the result of the owner's passion and I highly recommend it. If you like contempoarary, minimalist, plastic, impersonal chain hotels, it won't be to your taste. It is a converted old property so has no lift, is not licenced and has no dinner option. The plumbing, whilst working perfectly, can be noisy. Breakfast is served in a dining room that can't accomodate all guests at once, so expect to have a tighter "slot" than usual for breakfast. That is as critical as I can be... Look at the website and judge for yourself. It is as beautiful as it is represented there.

The setting was peaceful, the owner was very attentive to every requirement and most helpfull throughout our stay. The only issue we had was the temperature in the room was a little on the high side, had the heating been turned off everything would have been perfect.

A boutique style Victorian residence. Each room has a different feel and has extremely comfortable beds. Service is extremely firndly with a personal touch and the Villas is decorated to a very high standard. We stayed whilst at a friend's wedding. If you want a change from a faceless, corporate hotel I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Everything about The Villas Residence was simply fantastic. The owner is passionate about his hotel and customer care. The rooms are unique, comfortable and spotlessly clean. I enjoyed the whole experience and it made my business trip a great deal more pleasant.

We loved the interior decor, the people and the food - couldn't fault it! And without requesting it, we got 6"of snow next morning to add to the romance.

Totally eccentric decor - but heaps of style and comfort Friendly and helpful owner and staff - a wonderful welcome eg "can we get you a drink", "will you be needing somewhere to eat tonight?" Fabulously clean room Unexpected things in room - bottled water; shower gel & shampoo & conditioner; hair dryer, two arm chairs, lots of space to move around, lots of storage space Amazing breakfast - top quality food, freshly cooked; fantastic choice including items never seen in any other hotel breakfast (eg Yakult, homemade jam & marmalade, stuffed dates); great service

The Villas Residence is tastefully decorated, full of beautiful quality period furniture. But it doesn't stop there! The hotel is completed with lovely period features, decoration and items in keeping. The property has been sympathetically restored with taste and knowledge and understanding. The staff go above and beyond to both be friendly and helpful, yet appropriately so. The setting is fantastic, the gardens, house and drive are beautiful. We were staying on business, but it was a pleasure! If you get the opportunity to stay here, soak up the surroundings and enjoy a very peaceful stay.

The stylistic use of antiques and individuality of the room layouts all add up to a fabulous atmosphere. The house oozes charm from every room , so much so, that we will continue to reside in this beautiful residence when visiting Rochdale. We would like to thank the proprietors who were friendly and informative on all events in and around the area. A great place to stay for every location, we will recommend it to family, friends, and colleagues. The Villa Residence is a lovely gem !!!!

If you are in the Rochdale area this is the place to stay. It is a gem of a discovery, unique and great attention to period detail in all the rooms I saw. This has been lovingly put together, the rooms are elegantly decorated both in terms of furniture and general decor. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and helpful and all this within a relaxed and non pretentious atmosphere. An excellent find and would definitely return in the future.

This hotel has been lovingly decorated and furnished by the owner. What a beautiful and fascinating place to stay. We were welcomed by the staff and given a choice of the most lovely rooms. Spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable, rooms include tea\coffee, water, biscults, and big fluffy robes available for use. The whole place is full of interesting antiques and collectables, but this hotel is presented within a very relaxed atmosphere. Our only issue was we were staying just the one night, would have liked it to be longer. Will be going back when next in the area.
