comfortable place, lovely dinners and friendly staff
we weren't too keen on the two single duvets on the bed (double, made from two twin beds) - would be better with a king size duvet when made into double bed
friendly service . Great room . Good food . Excellent .
Atmosphere. Very good breakfast. Beautiful location
If you are a country lover this is the place for you!!set in the lovely Somerset countyside the hotel inside is olde world traditional charming and comfortable. Our room was spotless and breakfast good. the owners very pleasant and welcoming. all in all our stay was idillic that includes the geese and hens wandering the grounds .
Extremely helpful owners and staff, quite location in beautiful surroundings, quaint atmosphere with superb building and excellent food from an extensive menu
room was a little compact but very comfortable, bathroom was a little chilly.
Friendly Cosy Warm Comfy Clean
The owner was very welcoming and did everything she could to make us feel like we were in her home rather than a guest house
In a wonderful location. The beautiful Autumnal colours are a delight, and a feast for the eyes. The Inn, even in December, was very busy. The locals obviously love it too - It is spotless! Fresh flowers in bedrooms and on dining tables. Food was excellent, When speaking to another resident, he too, is planning to come back again, based on the food. I have a few problems with my diet, but they were very accommodating to my needs. Numerous walks through hills and dales, so bring your wellie boots (although they offered to loan me a pair). The Lovely Peta, on hand at all times. Nothing is too much trouble. I suspect people return, just as much for Peta, as they would to enjoy their stay at the Inn. Well done!
I didn't bring a car, which could be extremely limiting. I couldn't get any mobile connections either in Lower Vobster, nor in Upper Vobster. This could be considered a drag to some. I had to use their landline (which is a step into the past), but they ordered taxis for me, whenever I wanted one.
Ticked every box
- food was excellent - family room very spacious
- no telephone reception of wifi in the room !! - family room radiators on the wall didnt work, but after complaining it was cold, the owner brought another radiator to the room. Also offered a different bedroom, but as we specifically booked the bigger family room with larger size bed, we didnt feel that was an option. Next morning we did receive an explanation that they did have a problem with the radiators. - Due to lack of communication, we were not aware that warm breakfast on Sunday was only from 09.00 o'clock onwards. We were able to have continental which consisted of toast and cereals. We could have waited an hour of course, but were now ready to go. Unfortunately no compensation offered.
Everything was top quality; the room, the food and the staff all deserve high praise. Many thanks for a lovely stay!
The owner could not have treated us better, stopped open later for us to get back from a do in Coleford, and even offered to pick us up at 23.30 from the venue where we were.Recommend to anybody.
Taxi fares, to travel 1.1 miles by a local taxi £15.00. Otherwise no complaints.
Everything,,,warm welcome from Peta and her staff.A very comfortable room, lovely evening meal and great breakfast!
The location was very rural and quiet and the hosts very friendly. The food was excellent and the bar lovely and cosy.
Warm welcome and friendly staff Excellent food Pleasant and relaxing stay
Quality of the rooms and bed. No cheap mattress or pillows. The food was amazing and the hospitality was great.
Nothing really no mobile phone reception but there's wifi in the rooms and pub so it didn't really bother me.
Lovely spot, very friendly welcome and helpful staff, rooms large, comfy and stylish; very enjoyable evening meal

Friendly welcome, we requested an earlier breakfast, this was not a problem. The breakfast was a good start to the day. A most enjoyed stay and would definitely return.
Staff were superb, whole place is really relaxed, rooms are nice, food was great, couldn't do enough to help. I will stay here every time I'm in the area.
I wanted eggs Benedict for breakfast (Not on the menu I must add), and they had no Hollandaise in, but they created me something just as good instead!
Friendly, obliging owners & staff. Peaceful yet not isolated location [Wifi and mobile worked well]. Excellent cuisine. Comfortable room. Relaxing ambience.
