The family room was excellent for a family with a young child
Children's menu could more extensive
great landlady, great Food great advises for tripps heartful and friendly
Very friendly staff who were very helpful and keen to make us comfortable. Comfortable beds and excellent shower. Great breakfast and excellent evening meal. Very clean. The whole place was tastefully decorated. An extra free standing mirror was a great help as you could dry your hair and see what you were doing!
Kettle and drinks were in the wardrobe which filled with steam each time we made a hot drink (kettle was fixed so we couldn't move it ) - couldn't see what we were doing - very cramped - also for two ladies on a week's holiday, inadequate hanging space and only 6 hangers.
Beautiful food and beautiful room. Very large family room allowed comfortable stay.
A warm welcome and very friendly staff. The accomodation was nice which was at the back of the hotel with a lovely garden area. The breakfast which we ordered the night before was excellent and was served very quickly and Peta and her husband were lovely hosts. We would definitely recommend.
The accommodation was very comfortable in a very pretty and quiet location. The food was plentiful and of the highest quality.
there was nothing to dislike
Friendly and most helpful owner took excellent care of us. situated in beautiful surroundings peaceful village tastefully decorated room
Very friendly host and gave good suggestions of places to visit, room exceptionally clean, felt very safe and welcome.
Room was lovely, bar was great, food was fantastic and staff were even better. Would go back tomorrow. I've stayed in 5 star hotels that could n't match the Vobster inn
This is a great Inn with beautiful surroundings. The staff were very friendly and chatty. We stayed on 2 occasions within a week, our first visit was short and sweet but the staff were very accommodating. On our second visit the pub was closed as it usually is on Mondays but the owner told us of a near by place to eat which was great, we were given a larger room than our first at no extra cost which was very generous. They have a little Cockerel which roams around the garden which I enjoyed. I thought he might be a bit noisy but hardly noticed him at all.
The Wi-Fi occasionally cut out but this wasn't a major issue and we were advised they were having some problems with it. The cooked breakfast, while very tasty was a little small for my liking. Only one bacon/sausage/small egg, sautéed potatoes, half grilled tom and no beans. Again not a big issue as there was also cereal & toast available to help fill the gap. Overall very happy and would definitely stay again.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Also the room was lovely.
Comfortable room, tasteful modern decor, good breakfast with wholesome ingredients, flat with few steps
Beautiful place run by beautiful people. PETA went out of her way to make us feel at home and helped us sort out a hire car problem. Food was delicious.
Couldn't get WiFi in our room, had to use it in the eating area or outside.
The Inn was in a lovely location and had a warm feeling as did the lovely landlady. Her husband (the chief) wasn't of the same disposition. Our room was a nice size and comfortable. Food very good. I wouldn't say it was a 4 star though. A good 3. I definitely would go back again. I was assured all the broken things were going to be attended to.
Our bathroom glass shower door broke whilst my husband was showering. The light in the hallway to 3 rooms wasn't working. The taps and surroundings in the main toilet of the bar were dirty. It was a bit precarious walking from the car park up a small incline to the back of the Inn to our rooms The tarmac had several dips and hills in it hard going for someone with walking problems.
Food was excellent Welcome and how we were looked after was excellent Totally relaxing experience
The cockerel - he was evil and woke us up at 4am!
the food was excellent including breakfast.
no cellnet signal, but they let me use there phone FOC.
1) No indication as to which was the hot tap and which was the cold in room1 - it took trial and error and a lot of wasted water to discover the bath differed from the hand basin. 2) No light fitting over bathroom mirror
Very helpful staff, superb dinner & breakfast. Room clean and comfortable. Lovely rural location.
No mobile phone signal, but the owners did let us use their land line to book a taxi.
Peta the owner is delightful and very helpful. The breakfasts were lovely. Restaurant standard
On arrival, we were made to feel at home straight away. All our needs were met, and we were given great advice on where to go. Although we didn't eat from the menu, breakfast was delicious each morning and was always delivered with a smile and good conversation. The room was amazing! Very clean and well kept. Bed was unbelievably comfy too! Thank you very much for making this time so special! We will definitely be returning!
Booked last minute but can't wait to go back. Staff friendly and welcoming, breakfast great. Room excellent value for money.
Food was delicious. Staff were very friendly and supportive. Pleasant ambience
Blackout curtain would have been useful
We had a lovely stay here, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room had everything we needed and the food lived up to the reviews we had read. The owner was around both in the evening and the following morning and was friendly and helpful with advice on things to do in the surrounding areas. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back for longer next time.
We found the Vobster Inn and decided to book after reading its excellent reviews, we were not disappointed! As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff and asked to make ourselves comfortable with a drink while Ann-Marie checked that our room was ready. As soon as she came back she offered us an upgrade from the small twin we had booked to a double room. The rooms have their own separate entrance and our room was really pretty and clean, with water, tea/coffee/chocolate drinks and little orange biscuits to welcome us. In the shower were complimentary toiletries, tissues and hand-wash and lovely fresh fluffy towels. The Vobster has a large car-park and is in the quiet little village of Lower Vobster which we found with our trusty Sat-Nav although we were informed that telephone and Sat-Nav reception is sometimes difficult there, which wasn't a problem for us as there was also free Wi-fi so we were still in touch if we needed to be! The Vobster is perfectly placed for visiting many of the local attractions, Longleat, Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge and Glastonbury being but a few. We read in the guest book that many visitors to Glastonbury "do it in style" by booking a room at the Vobster so as to be close and beat the initial queues then booking again after Glastonbury to recuperate! Peta the Landlady and Raf her husband run the hotel, bar and restaurant with the help of a small team of very friendly staff. The food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious and some of the dishes are influenced by Rafs' Spanish background. There's a good choice from a simple ploughman's, to dishes a little more adventurous which suited us both as my husband tends to enjoy more traditional food whereas I prefer to try something new. Peta was really helpful giving us tips on places in the area we might like to visit... if only we'd had time!!
everything would stay again
no wi fi in room
