Its a pub, nice breakfast, good value
Bit tired - needs a makeover
nice clean smelling beds. basic room but all very clean. friendly check in
£75- i would at least expect some handsoap in the bathroom!
Nothing! Was the biggest mistake we have ever made and ruined my wifes' birthday weekend. Had to spend the next day washing every single item that we took with us as the smell had impregnated itself into everything! No exaggeration either! And now the landlord is denying there is a smell!!!
Our room was tiny...old furniture, the carpet was stained all over as was the headboard on the bed. The room stank so badly we felt sick and had sore throats and headaches from it and the noise from the Air-con unit, that was for the beer cellar, not a hotel room, on the outside wall meant we left after 2 hours...will never go there again!
The pub was excellent. Good old fashioned pub.
The rooms were very dated. The bathroom to small to shower in. And the water from the shower poor water pressure.
Friendly staff, gave some discount after complaining about the smell.
Very strong disgusting smell coming from bathroom/drain which made me sick, could barely sleep - never again! £6 extra charge per person for English breakfast despite breakfast included in booking.
Quiet location, comfy beds and great wifi signal in room and good breakfast in the morning
No O2 network coverage, but that's not hotels fault
friendliness of staff Food all well cooked
Beds not at all comfortable and rooms cramped
The roast dinner was quite good.
The room was dirty, bathroom very obviously not cleaned (someone else's used toiletries in the shower). Room was drab. Continental breakfast of white bread toast and juice was a real disappointment. Guess they're trying to induce you to pay for their English breakfast instead. Accommodation overpriced. Stay here only if you have to.
Nice freindly staff, good clean rooms, Excelent value for money
locally brewed beer could have been better
Very goog standard staff very helpful and polite Superb food
Owner very friendly and obliging
The owner is friendly
The strange looking glances that I received from the local people being a black women It made me feel like I was a novelty From their prosprective I must have been the most exciting human being they had seen To be fair I was just glad the owner made me feel welcome their was nothing he could do and he did not notice on a plus side I received no trouble from the locals which I was so pleased as it made me feel vulnerable
The real ales
I wouldn't say that cereal and a slice of toast qualifies as a continental breakfast! We felt the price of the room was too pricey for a very dated and basic accommodation which did not include a decent breakfast.
Breakfast was great. Landlord was helpful
Room wasn't very clean. Shower a nightmare. Bed very low and soft. Very a expensive for what it was
The location due to the wedding we attended.
Breakfast, bathroom, whole place needs to be updated.
the location & food
As in other reviews friendly Knowledgeable proprietor value for money at the special rate we got for the room but would not like to pay more. It was a very cold night but the room was nice and warm.
Shower curtain did not hold back the small flood my wife had!
Cheap and cheerful and just what we needed! We were attending a wedding just down the road and this was within walking distance! We didn't make breakfast unfortunately but the room was clean and everything worked as it should. I liked that the accommodation was separate to the pub so getting back late didn't disturb anyone!
Nothing, would recommend!
Good welcome, good food
Great Staff Great food Very quiet Nice Location
Dated Rooms Small Shower on En suite
Friendly staff - Michael, the proprietor, was very accommodating. Knowledgeable about East Anglia and uk history. Food was hearty, hot, and delicious. Try the steak and kidney pie!
Modest room and bath, but a good, cheap overnight.
Staff are lovely, great location for those attending the nearby wedding venue.
The bed is uncomfortable and the pillows are horrid. The shower war not as clean as it should have been, while I appreciate the venue is tired and old, a good clean would do wonders.
