In a tranquil location on the south coast of Jersey, Highlands Hotel has views of the stunning, sandy beaches. The La Corbière lighthouse is a short walk away.
Score from 107 reviews Excellent
Set on the north of the island, this 4-star guesthouse occupies an idyllic countryside setting in Trinity, Jersey, overlooking the picturesque Bouley Bay and harbor.
Score from 43 reviews Wonderful
Between St Helier and Gorey on Jersey’s south coast, Shakespeare Hotel is the most southerly in the British Isles. It has its own private access onto the nearby beach.
Score from 102 reviews Good
One of the most well-equipped hotels on Jersey, with 2 pools, 2 bars, 2 restaurants and free parking, Apollo Hotel is located at the heart of St. Helier.
Score from 565 reviews Good
Opening my bedroom window in the morning to a beautiful view and smell of the sea, also the fact that the local bus stops right outside the hotel which goes into the main town, from where you can get to almost anywhere on the island.
The shower which was over a bath. I find it difficult these days being in my seventies to get into and out of a bath.
Fabulous location. We had room 509 lovely big room with a garden and sea view.
We arrived and were presented with a fabulous sea view and beautiful quiet bay with lapping water, just what we required. Yes the hotel is on the otherside of the island but the buses go every two hours, and they are regular, to St Helier and in my mind it was by far the best way to see the island. Breakfast was a buffet style and catered for all tastes but plentiful and hot, the sausages were particularly tasty. We had supper twice, both times the food was great and well presented. The gardens and swimming pool were beautiful and overlooked the bay. This is a hotel I would definitely revisit because it exceeded all my criteria for a wonderful holiday. This hotel is brilliant for those who want a peaceful holiday away from the hubub of a town.
The hotel was very clean and tidy but looking a bit "tired" but this was more than made up by the positives. Using the freeview television was not entirely straight foward as when you turned it on not all of the channels were showing. I had to activate them by pressing extra buttons on the remote. I was able to do this but I would imagine someone less technical would have struggled. It would have been nice to have wifi
The location is fantastic, staff are delightful but this hotel is dated and rundown.
Paper thin walls allowed you to follow the conversation and ablutions of the neighbours. Mattress had seen better days as had the bathroom. Curtains dangling due to lack of curtain hooks. It's a pity as the location is fabulous.
location location location.right on the waters edge. great breakfast pretty well kept gardens very clean good size rooms
the only night we used the restaurant we found it cold and unfriendly due to the evening waiter not knowing how to smile, which was such a contrast to the rest of the staff which had been friendly.
Views. Breakfast was excellent Amazingly comfortable bed Stunning location Excellent value
Good location for us and friendly staff.
It is evident that the hotel is not having any money spent whilst it awaits a planning consent for re-development. No hooks on bathroom doors, broken shower fittings and so on. Nothing major but not quite right ....
BREAKFAST BUFFET WAS EXCELLENT WODERFUL VIEWS FROM OUR HOTEL WINDOW ENJOYED OUR STAY VERY MUCH AND WOULD COME BACK TO THEWATERS EDGE AGAIN
A BIT DISSAPOINTED WITH THE SET EVENING MEAL MENU
View from the room was lovely. Bed was comfortable and room was clean and spacious with plenty of clothes storage. Breakfast buffet had good variety. The Black Dog pub next door was small but staff were friendly and food was good.
Parking was limited so had to park on road most of the time. Evening restaurant staff were a little bit miserable but food was lovely. Very tired decor in rooms.
Very nice location right upon the sea.. Had lots of character although some might say it was in need of updating but we liked that. Very nice breakfast, plenty of choice.
Limited parking which we were just about ok with but in high season might be a real problem. Bath had no support rails up high and no bath mat..lower showerhead support fixture was very loose. Sorry the hotel may be gone in 2 years to make way for flats.
The setting is beautiful with the most amazing panoramic views across the bay, from the restaurant, lounge bar and games rooms as well as a large sun deck. The food, although a fairly limited menu choice and quite pricey, is very good. The room, too, although basic, was very comfortable and I slept well. I'd highly recommend for big events like wedding receptions.
In the last week before the hotel closed for the winter months (mid September!) we felt the staff were somewhat lacklustre - and a two course meal in the restaurant took a total of two and a half hours, service was so slow. Breakfast didn't start until 8am, which ruled me out for the three mornings I stayed as I had to be away early. Had to use my own supplies. Beware - there is comedy plumbing. The shower likes to freeze you to numbness one minute and then playfully scald you the next. First morning, there was no hot water at all, so had to make do with a cold wash. And wifi only works in one corner of the hotel (reception area). Would still return, though, for that amazing location. You forgive it all when you step outside.
Beautiful location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food very good. Very spacious room and comfortable bed.
Décor in the rooms needs updating. 10 pc discount on food and beverage, but still quite pricey.
food at the hotel itself was very good in an evening
room very dull due to out of date decor and a dreadful mix of furniture. wi fi advertised and yet absolutely none available.
Location was superb. The staff were exceptionally nice. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The panoramic view across the bay was breathtaking, and there were lovely gardens behind the hotel with heated swimming pools for those who did not want to swim in the sea. We had an excellent holiday.
Menu was slightly repetitious, although the quality of the food was very good. We were rather a distance from alternative restaurants, but there was a pub next door which served reasonable food.
The view you expect are the views you get and they are amazing. Room comfortable and the kids room on the side was great. Staff couldn't be more accommodating and we dealt really looked after.
A little tired around the edges (pool area for instance) and it did take the reception staff a while to understand so please requests. How many times can you say "Flush doesn't work". Parking could be better but that's just endemic of the Island.
Noisy Rooms Poor Management Out dated decor Lack of info Smells damp
Great location Comfortable bedroom and lounges Interesting menu - well presented and served, tasty and good value table d'hote
Don't expect an ultra-modern hotel Slight staff tensions, but this did not spoil my stay
Fantastic view from the bedroom and the restaurant and the breakfast was very good and set us up well for the day! Rooms extremely clean although maybe a little dated and very friendly and helpful staff.
The provision for car parking is poor, with only limited spaces for hotel residents, most of which are taken up by those using the diving centre. I was very disappointed to find that due to a hill climb event, our car would be removed if not parked in the tiny car park adjacent to nearby chalets - this was full of cars belonging to those involved in the event.
Close proximity to Water. uninterrupted views over Bay from Rooms, Restaurant and bar. Choice of Eating places - Hotel Restaurant, Snack Bar, Beach Café and Black Dog Pub next door. Very peaceful setting in North of Island but still only 5 miles to St Helier.
Very Tired rooms in need of updating. Bar / restaurant prices a little pricy, no doubt a premium for the wonderful views. Parking limited outside Hotel, but plenty available on Hill road. Whilst Hotel is clean and functional, I was told the Hotel is to be demolished in 2 yrs time to make way for Luxury sea view apartments costing upwards of £500k each....for those you can afford, the views will be stunning.
The hotel was in a fabulous location and the staff were really helpful. The view is something I will try to recall when feeling stressed! It was clean and the food was good.
The hotel is in need of refurbishment, but it's clean so it isn't enough of a problem to stop me going back. Ideally I would have liked a little more choice as a vegetarian - but at least there were a couple of options available.
Great location, on a lovely quiet bay. Good food, excellent pub next door serving great portions of yummy grub!
This hotel is apparently waiting for planning permission for a complete rebuild. Trouble is, it desperately needs this to happen. Meanwhile, the tired decor, old uncomfortable mattresses and clean but run-down bathrooms leave a lot to be desired when in the same price range, much better quality can be found. Would come back, but only once the rebuild/upgrade has been done. I'm sure others feel the same.
Wonderful location, fantastic views
The hotel is tired, think need a few more staff as service could be erratic
The location was fabulous. The staff were friendly although a little thin on the ground at times. The food in the restaurant was great and plentiful. We would return to this hotel as the location was so great.
The rooms are a little dated at present but we knew this before we arrived. The shower was a bit temperamental one minute just right the next either very cold or very hot without warning. The wifi was not great in our room on the 4th floor but didn't cause us any issue as we had great 3G reception.
Superb location and friendly, helpful staff. Light, airy room with excellent views.
In need of refurbishment, looking very dated and a bit shabby in places.
The location and fantastic view, the pool.
Needs an injection of vitality to lift it and make it the best hotel in Jersey. Needs organised tours as the tours run from St Helier only. Could be so much more!!
