the staff were in touch with me making sure my requirements for my family were ready for our arrival. the service and meals were excellent. i could not have asked for more. i would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you for making our stay perfect.
there was nothing i did not like.
Staff anf food good.
Accommodation tired but acceptable. Rustling of the mouse kept me awake.
Quiet room Decent breakfast
No wifi in rooms Nowhere comfy to sit whilst using wifi Needs a quiet public room away from mad kids
We upgraded to the hotel .The lodges were tucked round the back they were very in attractive and slightly depressing looking. The hotel was wonderful a complete contrast to the lodges. This rating is for the lodges not the hotel. I would recommend the hotel but definitely the lodges.
The lodges they were very basic probably as basic as you could get no comforts although very clean.
The View from room 209 was wonderful. Breakfast was lovely with courteous, prompt professional service. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was spotless with the fresh fruit left daily on the tea tray, a welcome extra!
The evening menu looked good so we decided to invite 4 relatives to eat with us. The food was absolutely delicious BUT the service awful. We soon realised that one lone waitress was rushed off her feet and the bar extremely busy. We had to go to the bar to say we were ready to order and likewise to order deserts. The poor waitress just could not cope on her own, with occasional help from a member of bar staff. She grew more and more surly throughout the evening, we had to go to the bar to get our own drinks and one of our party spilt full pint while carrying it back. This was met by "Thats all I need" as she threw a roll of blue paper towel at us. We had to point out that it needed a mop and bucket and offerred to mop ourselves. Memories of a wonderful stay were tarnished by a shortage of restaurant staff.
l travelled with my eldest son .we both found our stay way above our expectations in every way.staff were so helpful.room was very good.food was excellent & a wide selection available.breakfast was a dream.well done & thank you.we hope to return some day.
difficult to find any
parking, room size, ok bar meal
bit tired for block with room 24
Location good, staff friendly, in particular bar staff. Meals nice enough.
Rooms looked a bit tired and could do with a bit of a refresh. Walls paper thin and could hear next rooms tv! Would pay extra to stay in a room in the hotel if going again tho if just wanting somewhere for a bed for a night, it's fine.
The view The staff The facilities
The amount of the evening meal and breakfast was fine but the quality of the materials poor as was the cooking.
Breakfast and meals were excellent. Proximity to Scrabster. Staff excellent.
Rooms were 'tired' Light string in bathroom of '4' was filthy. Lot of traffic noise. Swear I heard a mouse squeaking and scratching rustling about through the night.
Clean rooms Good TV Comfy Bed Great Breakfast Good Price Quiet location
The Shower! A metal box like something from a prisoner of war camp with a shower system that seemed like it came out of a 1960's camper van. No pressure, no space, very confining, random temperatures, shame cause everything else was perfect.
It was everything perfect. Everyone was nice and friendly. The breakfast was very good.
The location was very good.
The bed was too small for two normal sized adults, the shower room was dirty, there was a great deal of noise during the night coming from the main road close bye.
Staff, location, food, room, view & everything terrific. Just what we needed to rejuvenate ourselves.
Originally booked the cheapest room. ok for 1 night (but no longer). We paid extra to upgrade to hotel room and it was lovely although mattress on bed needed replacing.
They eventually upgraded us - but charged for the privilege. The Hotel is excellent and reasonable Value.
The lodge we got was one of the many 'huts' that have remained - apparently unchanged - from the 70's when I grew up in Thurso. The Hotel and the new Lodge building are fine but these converted beach huts have to be seen to be believed. Not fit for habitation !
Location _ clean comfortable rooms use of hotel facilities we booked two rooms for two nights would not hesitate if in the area again
Staff very pleasant. The service was good. And it was very clean and tidy. We would definitely stay there again. There was a lovely view from the conservatory. Thanks bill & Kerry. From Blackburn Lancashire.
The room was clean. The breakfast was very good. It was a budget price.
The lodge we stayed in was one of 12 very shabby modular units in blocks of 4. The room smelt damp, was shabby, small and very badly maintained. If I'd known I would have considered a more expensive room.
Cost and overall value of accommodation.
Restaurant not open for evening meal (contracted out for wedding). I believe that hotels have an obligation to guests.
Breakfast / Restaurant food was good, location and outlook were fine
Make sure you know what you are booking, you know there are hotel rooms and lodges but make sure you know what you are actually getting. The images on the website show hotel rooms and lodges but the ones pictured are the superior lodges, if you pick a standard lodge, just look for the buildings that look like toilet blocks.
Everything other than breakfast. It looks good on street view, but that hides the rooms in black boxes out the back. These are exhausted, small, dirty and smelly. The old analogue TV & set top box worked for two minutes and then froze. The ensuite was tiny and the shower was mouldy. I've stayed in mining transportables that were better.
The room as we entered smelled terrible, they were dirty and very dated
Ground floor rooms Access to surroundings very good
Internet only in main building/public areas
