The location of the hotel was perfect. The breakfast was excellent and good value for money. The Staff were very willing and eager to please. We enjoyed our stay and will return in a few years time. The hotel parking was a problem, but that is not something that can easily be resolved. Noise from other rooms is also an issue if other guests are not thoughtful enough. The IOW Feastival in August can also restrict your travelling arrangements if you have not planned ahead.

I thought the staff were excellent. Every staff member worked hard and tried very hard to help and the service was excellent. The hotel has a lovely view of the ocean from the rooms and the bar as well as the dinky room. The decking outside on a warm evening is stunning. Overall a good experience and I enjoyed the stay I felt the bathroom in the food was tatty and tired,it really needed to be upgraded. The cost of the room was a little high really for the quality, I would expect satellite tv for the cost of the room, it is small things that took away from being an amazing stay to a good stay. The cost of food was a little high as well, three things that would make this an amazing experience if they were adressed.

The staff were helpful and friendly in the course of our 3 day stay. The bed was diabolically uncomforteable and although a price reduction was offered and accpeted and some help given by the staff to try to solve the problem the real problem was that the bed base was old and married to an undersized and old and uncomfortable mattress. This should never have been allowed by the hotel managemanent and means we would never go back to the Wellington.

The location of The Wellington Hotel is what makes you go back - it's a 2 minutes walk into town and 2 minutes walk to the sea - with spectacular view out to sea too. Also a 2 minute walk from The Spyglass Inn - which is a fantastic pub. So I give it thumbs up for the 2 minutes rule. x It is slightly dilapidated and crumbling and doesn't really have all the mod cons that some people might expect, but it does a good job.

Location beautiful as well as style of building, seaveiws excellent. Staff very good .breakfast excellent, dining area not inviting very cool/cold unintresting, had to ask for heating to be put on in bedroom as cold, also had to ask for extra duvet as summer duvet not warm enough, Dinners expensive, Bar prices very expensive.ONE Pint lager =7-00 stg (bottled) Car parking major problem approx 8 cars maximum, If you cannot obtain a parking space outside hotel then you have to use public car park (which is a good walk away ) charge has to be paid early a,m, 7-30/8- 00am so late risers must be informed if useing public car park get up early ! we both enjoyed our short stay and would return with the knoledge of avoiding bar and dineing in evening and to return as early as possible or miss a parking spot outside hotel (this is a hotel only for people with all faculties working, steep stairs and steep hills /roads ) I say again we enjoyed our stay and will return.we were told we had an extra night for free, the staff told us as we did not know so book for two nights and get three great.

The hotel has charm, is kept well and is very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful (we had an issue with the mattress which was immediately dealt with). The location is excellent, only 200m away from the public bus stop and just a few steps away from the beach and coastal walkway. Great views from the room and balcony. Extremely quiet. Great to relax. We did not have dinner at the hotel so we cannot comment therefore, but breakfast could have been a bit more elaborate (i.e. adding yoghurt and cheese would make a big difference without costing too much to the hotel). The coffee sadly was not good. Choosing another tastier blend would make such a difference, especially to continental people like us (Swiss).

Amazing views and clean room. Close to the esplanade with a 3 minute walk to the beach. The hotel is quite run down and needs some exterior attention badly. If you walk down the stairs tithe beach, they have used an outside as a dumping ground for broken chairs and old mattresses. This really breaks the atmosphere of the lovely setting. The passage from reception to the restaurant down the stairs inside smells very mouldy and 'old'. Badly in need of ventilation. Breakfast without even one yogurt to choose from is sad. Their restaurant is well overpriced for some really mediocre food. Even after requesting a special dinner setting and table and them agreeing to it the night before, nothing was done by the staff.

Staff were friendly The food was good Views were great Bed comfortable - cotton linen and great pillows Bedroom large and good on suite Decor very poor in dining room - evidence of water leaks all over hotel. Generally paintwork in poor condition exterior and interior The steps lead down to the beach - through gardens which were appalling old mattresses and broken furniture stacked up. Generally the outside lacked any care. Really ruined the stay. Having decided to eat in the hotel based on the table dote menu in the room information pack , when we got to the restaurant we were told we could only have al carte putting the price from £60 to £120. The food was good but way over priced for our expectations, the setting and the mediocure service which whilst friendly was totally in experienced. We felt very ripped off. There was no lounge or anywhere to sit after dinner so we went to our room - not what you would expect. The whole hotel was cold and we had to ask to put heating on. There was no heated towel rail in either ours or our daughters bathroom so our towels were wet. The curtains in our room whilst good quality had curtain rings missing so did not draw properly. The bath had mould around it, as did the windows. Our bedroom had a very large and low picture window- I was very shocked to see it had no retaining clasp and opened completely making it very dangerous for children. This part of the room had a two floor drop. There had been a severe water leak through our bathroom ceiling and into the light sockets so two of the four did not work. Being on a hill we were at ground floor on the front of the hotel without nets or blinds so had to keep the curtains closed for privacy.

The balcony view of the sea The carpet in my room needed cleaning as did the carpeted halls and stairways. The night porter snored all night which was audible from my ground floor location so after about 3am I had no sleep and left a day early. No real comfort at all in this hotel.

The location was great, the food excellent, the staff superb and helpful. The only thing I didn't like about the room was that there were double doors leading onto the balcony but no windows and I like to sleep with a window open. Minor I know, but irritating for me. Other than that it was an excellent hotel to stay in

The hotel and room where very clean and the staff freindly and attentive. Parking when busy would be a problem. The noise created when the cold water system was activated, eg refilling toilet cistern after flushing, and using cold water tap. This is possibly due to the cold water mains supply and pressure needed to supply at top of steep hill. None the less a bit disconcerting when say toilet is flushed in a nearby room during the night, the noise from the water pressure is frightening until you get used to it. Maybe a word of such at reception when booking in might be a good idea.

The view is excellent - needs some signage so you can find your room. Coffee not very good, however, breakfast seemed to be freshly cooked. The Super De-luxe room was not as good as we would have thought. We managed to get an unpgrade to a better room.
