The location of the hotel was perfect. The breakfast was excellent and good value for money. The Staff were very willing and eager to please. We enjoyed our stay and will return in a few years time. The hotel parking was a problem, but that is not something that can easily be resolved. Noise from other rooms is also an issue if other guests are not thoughtful enough. The IOW Feastival in August can also restrict your travelling arrangements if you have not planned ahead.

I thought the staff were excellent. Every staff member worked hard and tried very hard to help and the service was excellent. The hotel has a lovely view of the ocean from the rooms and the bar as well as the dinky room. The decking outside on a warm evening is stunning. Overall a good experience and I enjoyed the stay I felt the bathroom in the food was tatty and tired,it really needed to be upgraded. The cost of the room was a little high really for the quality, I would expect satellite tv for the cost of the room, it is small things that took away from being an amazing stay to a good stay. The cost of food was a little high as well, three things that would make this an amazing experience if they were adressed.

The balcony with sea view The lack of hot choices at breakfast (no other choice except what was on show) - the chef needs to learn how to fry an egg! We only had a rubberised ring of hard egg which seems to have been cooked about 3 hours previous. A breakfast menu would have been nice with alternative hot choices. The one evening meal we had was delicious.

Attractive room, very beautiful view, lovely balcony/terrace. Attractive and interesting building, and decor. Stylish, well decorated. Helpful staff - re parking. Very quiet hotel. Room arranged very badly, poor lighting, only one easy chair. Food not up to expectation, bar very small and dimly lit. Breakfast very limited, with different items missing each day. Next item - recommendation would depend on guest's requirements. Stairs dangerous - should warn that buidling is unsuitable for people with limited mobility.

The room was nice, with a very big bathroom. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. The worst cooked breakfast we have ever had. Cold undercooked food served on cold plates, with sloppy wet scrambled egg. On the Sunday there was a buffet breakfast so we tried again, big mistake! food was brought out cold and had to heat up on the warmers, unfortunately it wasn't there long enough to get hot. Chaotic serving and a big disappointment, for the price of the hotel it shouldn't have been like that. Parking is also a bit of a problem, a couple of people had to park some distance away from the hotel.

The hotel and room where very clean and the staff freindly and attentive. Parking when busy would be a problem. The noise created when the cold water system was activated, eg refilling toilet cistern after flushing, and using cold water tap. This is possibly due to the cold water mains supply and pressure needed to supply at top of steep hill. None the less a bit disconcerting when say toilet is flushed in a nearby room during the night, the noise from the water pressure is frightening until you get used to it. Maybe a word of such at reception when booking in might be a good idea.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room [super deluxe] was wonderful, with amazing sea views. The restaurant provided really high quality food in a relaxed setting - with a lovely open air terrace. All in all, a wonderful hotel for a weekend break.

The Verandah with the great view of the sea. Design is grand and we have voted it is as the best hotel that we have stayed in this trip because of the wonderful view from the verandah and the breakfast is very nice too.

The view is excellent - needs some signage so you can find your room. Coffee not very good, however, breakfast seemed to be freshly cooked. The Super De-luxe room was not as good as we would have thought. We managed to get an unpgrade to a better room.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the quality of the food in the restaurant was very good, however the service was very slow, 1 hr to get the meal. The water views were brilliant , the decor was very tired, the carpets were dirty and needed updating, the balcony was rusty. The TV in the room was a very small portable, the size of a PC monitor. I felt the brochure was nicer than the reality. I expected a more modern update for a 4 star hotel

This lovely Victorian Hotel is situated in an enviable position on the hillside overlooking the coast at Ventnor. Our room had a balcony with sea views which was ideal for sharing a glass or two of wine before dinner or reading.Hearing the sound of the sea is very inducive to relaxation and so we slept very well during our two night stay. The hotel restaurant had a good choice on the dinner menu, however although I emailed ahead of our stay to advise of special dietry requirements, it would appear that only the reception staff were informed of this. Breakfast on the terrace was very nice in the morning sunshine. Parking is restricted, and the nearest parking is in public car parks. Steep steps down to the seafront

We liked the Wellington Hotel and think it is one of the best hotels on the Island. Also the location, Ventnor is a very nice place and we had the Super Deluxe Room that had its own balcony. Waking up to the sound of waves and overlooking the sea was delightful. The staff could not be more helpful or happy. The food was excellent and the chef enthusiastic about his cooking. However there was a long wait at dinner (not breakfast) for the food to arrive and this deterred us from having dinner in the hotel on further occasions. The brochure does look like the hotel but could now do with a coat of paint...
