The West End Hotel  

Location, we loved it: everything was walking distance and the surrounding area was really nice. The hotel itself: clean room and hotel. friendly staff. tidy and modern. a great looking hotel on the inside and the outside.

Bed: it was harder than a rock.

The staff were excellent and always available to help and the hotel was in an ideal location.

Very comfortable and well equipped room, friendly and helpful staff, good food, good central location.

One night there was noise from people coming in late to the dormitory accommodation.

Friendly staff, locals at the bar, breakfast included was good. Great hair dryers and straighteners in the bathrooms

There were large dormitory rooms in the hotel which we didnt know about, these were vv loud. Some of the guests from those rooms attempted to open our room door in the night too.

The price was great. The room comfortable and food good.

One of my friends thought it was noisy.

Lovely trip to the hotel, really nice hotel with excellent staff and a very welcoming reception. We ate at the hotel and the food was lovely although not an extensive menu. Service was first class and felt very much like home We stayed in 10 bed and 8 bed dorms which was a first for us all - and we loved it. Thanks for the stay - we will be back !

One minor complaint - more mirrors and better lighting needed in the bathrooms !

Our room was large and comfortable - however as a couple we were in a four person room. Having the bar/eating facilities in the same venue was very good. The food/drink was very reasonably priced and the quality of the food was good value for money.

The lock on the door was not functioning correctly and this was an issue for us because we were concerned about security. There was a lot of noise early in the morning (4 am) with people going back and forth to the toilets (and subsequent door banging)which were on a shared basis on the floor below us.

Located close to city centre. Good value for money. Will stay again.

On street parking is expensive.

very nice and quiet hotel, near the centre of Edimburg. In case of few days in Edimburg I will stay there once again

Very poor for Parking.

We stayed at this hotel for the weekend. It was fantastic, the staff are great and the breakfast is yummy. You also get a 20% discount on food and drinks for being a guest there. I would defiantly recommend the west end to others. The room was clean and comfy just beware there is no lift.

Close proximity to Haymarket Station. Staff very helpful. Room very comfortable and clean. Fantastic Scottish breakfast, did not need lunch! Would certainly recommend hotel to others.

The hotel and wash room was very much clean.

There was not lift. The room was at fourth floor and the hotel had no reception none to turn to in case of needs.

The hotel has a lovely modern atmosphere and a welcoming feel. It has quite an open door sense to it with the local community using the bar facilities. Check in as a large group was a lot quicker than expected, however we had to pay for our rooms upfront as well as a considerable security deposit which was not explained prior!! We were advised just to sign the deposit contract but fussily chose to read through every point and thankfully we did,,, Dont be fooled by the very friendly nature of some staff!!!!... However the rooms were lovely, beds divine and fab food from the bar!

There was no problem what so ever with this hotel until checkout. As a large group travelling to Edinburgh for a hen do we loved the party atmosphere and the friendliness within the hotel, however after our group acted exemplary and had this confirmed to myself at half 5 in the morning while still chatting to the staff members and last few guests still up, after a very rowdy nite of late partyin where bar customers spilled up the full 3 floors of staircases leaving their empty glasses outside our doors, I was appalled to hear noise complaints had been made against us and therefore we would be losing some deposit!!!!! Considering half our group were in bed before the bar guests cleared and had to climb over bodies in the halls to reach their doors I dont know how they could imply any noise we made was to be penalised!!!!! Further they could not pinpoint exactly which of our four rooms made the noise (if any) and just took a shot in the dark at how much deposit to hold back!!! ..... I was very pleased we were fussy enough to read the full deposit contract the previous day, which did not include noise inside the rooms, and I pointed out at check to ensure clarity, to avoid this situation!!!!! After arguing and pointing this out, as well as the fact that staff members were still up with guests when I returned to the hotel at 5.30am and very happily stated it had been the busiest and craziest nite of the year in the hotel I did stand my ground and insist that their attempt to steal money from us was not happening and I did get the full amount returned!!! I was very disappointed by the particular member of staff who tried to do this, as they were the one partying til late with guests and asking me the time as they were worried about getting sleep before having to make breakfast!!!! Maybe the pockets of certain people were empty after their "crazy'' nite and needed lining!!!!! Oh and breakfast was a disorganised shambles because of the hangovers!!!!! Disgusting...

Stayed in 12 bed dorm and the beds were much more comfortable than expected. The bar area was nice, as was the food on offer. 20% off food and drink made it fantastic value.

Plug sockets in room did not work, which I was told was intentional

The location was very good as you could walk to all tourist attractions. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and very helpful as well! Althoughy we were on the top floor and had to climb a lot of stairs, it did not bother us because of the time we were there in the room and the little amount of luggage that we had. Our room was lovely and had all tr facilities that were listed on the website etc. However out shower was a bit temprimental and I did not have a hot shower. My boyfriend did because the shower would have been running long enough by the time he got in it. Not ideal of you was in a rush. I thought the cooked breakfast was lovely and we really did take advantage of the 20% discount at the bar. The atmosphere was lovely for the whole of our trip and alot of locals drank there which shows how good the bar was. I would stay there again.

The shower was a bit temprimental. You had to run it for a long time in order to have a decently hot shower. This was a Pain of you were in a rush to head out.

le calme anisi que la décoration de la chambre. Le personnel sympathique et la bonne ambiance. Le restaurant de l hôtel est d'un très bon rapport qualité prix.

Dommage que le restaurant ne soit pas ouvert tous les soirs. Hôtel légèrement excentré.

Positiv: alles neu gerichtet, sauber, gute Lage (in 10 min zu Fuß auf der Princess-Street.

Negativ: Zimmer 9 sehr laut wegen Elektroanlagen hinter der Wand! Schlecht geschlafen. Viel Unruhe im Haus bis morgens um 5 Uhr (Türen extrem hellhörig). Obwohl 10 Monate vorher reserviert und um früheres Frühstück gebeten kam nie Antwort und es gab auch kein Frühstück 30 min früher. Wir sind daher sehr enttäuscht!

Service under frukost var klen. En kille skulle vara portier, hälla upp kaffe, rosta smörgåsa,r ta upp best. på viss varm frukost samt ringa och beställa den och dessutom brygga kaffe som smakade nada.. Vi försökte hälla upp en kaffe.. NEJ.. bränna på en smörgås.. NEJ.. Han skulle fixa det.. och det tog tid.. så lång tid att vi efter lång väntan hellre tog en promenad för att få en riktigt god smakrik kaffe på starbucks.. Annars var vi väldigt nöjda med hotellet.. Problemmet är enkellt löst med små enkla lösningar.. Buffé..
