Only 440 yards from the very heart of Bradford, this traditional Yorkshire stone building has undergone a £450,000 refurbishment and now offers 22 comfortable and attractive rooms with private bathrooms. Built around 1900, the family-run Westleigh Hotel is situated just outside the heart of the city. The university is just a 3-minute walk away and the city’s stores, bars, theaters and clubs are just a 5 minute walk away. Situated far enough from the city’s vibrant nightlife to have a peaceful, quiet location, the hotel is nevertheless within easy walking distance of everything that Bradford has to offer. Leeds Bradford International Airport is just 25 minutes away and the train and bus stations are just a 3-minute taxi ride away. The staff could not do enough to make us feel welcome: and that's a rare thing when staying somewhere with young children. More access to bedside lights would have been handy.

The price. The breakfast is awesome! no kettle in room. Very slow running taps in bathroom, with only warmish water late in the evening.

The staff were amazing and really helpful - from cleaners, kitchen staff bar staff, reception. Special mention to Sue for which nothing was a bother. The room was really quiet so we slept well even though we were near the centre and there were some celebrations on in the lounge bar. Cooked breakfast was great and good value for money.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. The decor was nice. It had an ironing board and iron and a hairdryer. The room was cold on arrival and we had to work out how to operate the heater. Also shower took a long time to get hot water, wasn't sure how to operate it either.

Friendly, helpful. Good location for me. Difficult to sit at the table and work (no space for chair at bottom of bed). Very poor lighting in the room (hard to read in bed; needed to move a lamp to see to work at table). Dependent on a wall heater (i.e. had to wake up and turn it on, in a freezing room, half an hour before getting up). Decor very poor. No shower gel/shampoo.

Great value for money as ever. I have used the Westleigh for business and pleasure over the last year or so. Great breakfasts would set anyone up for the day ahead. Nice and quiet in the rooms even when the pub below is busy. Easy free parking on site. Business trip this time. Cold room on arrival, but electric heaters efficient at warming the room in a short while. Shower room also cold. I've never seen a heater in any bathroom at this hotel yet. Oh yes, and why was the soap dish in the shower fixed upside down ?

The staff were excellent, couldn't have been nicer. The family room we booked was directly above the main room of the pub and was just really loud. The jukebox didn't stop until 20 to 2 on the first night and it was like being next door to a house party with thumping bass all night. Sat night was better, not quite as loud. The breakfast was also not very tasty, I think it had been made and left a while so when we got it, it was very shrivelled up and tasteless. Probably just warmed in the microwave again. There was no proper heating either, just some plug-in heaters so not very cosy when it's 2 degrees outside and the room was huge.

Second time here seeing our university kids. Great location and great value for money. We were on the top floor, nice and quiet throughout the night. Wouldn't know you were above a bar. Breakfast prepared fresh - again good quality and good value all round. Shower adjustment bit finiky when you've only just woken up (hot on full, cold on a smidgen worked for us!) The double bed sloped into the middle, no chance of falling out !!

Nice friendly staff, nothing too much trouble, availability of good food, wi-fi, all in all it is a very good city centre hotel, liked large bedroom with tall ceiling, easy on site parking, WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN Let down by bath panel falling off, mould around the bath edges and bath taps leaked, corners of the bath at the floor not clean, gave the feeling of not fresh but that said linen and towels all excellent. So rating let down by the bathroom itself which really needs a refurb. Also stained runner on bed not good again giving off a negative vibe.

I knew it well before my stay, so knew that it was a comfortable and friendly place. It was rather noisy at night, various mechanical sounds.

Location to city center. The shower was nice and powerful. Our room was on top floor which provided nice views and was fairly quiet. A lift to the top floor would have been useful especially when carrying luggage, the staircase was very narrow and steep so beware! We had an evening meal at the hotel bar, fish and chips were good, but the mixed meat platter was burnt and the meat was tough!
