very friendly staff
From the moment we arrived until when we left, the staff were friendly courteous & welcoming. When we had a minor issue with the tv, it was resolved immediately! Would definitely stay there again!!
Location and friendly staff. Great wine and they do an amazing steak!
On 4 separate occasions [100%] I was charged wrong 4 different times.
very friendly staff, very good location perfect for walkers. good food
small bedroom bathroom sink actually in the bedroom as the bathroom too small
Had a comfortable stay for 3 nights. The area was a revelation to us - really nice. The place has an unpretentious feel, with lots of farmer-types dropping by the pub every night to complain about this sheep or that cow. Our room didn't have a shower so I had to relearn how to use a bath, which was a bit of a struggle actually.
The downside of being unpretentious is that the food was the stereotypical poor English food and the bar selection is a bit limited. One morning the breakfast was ridiculously slow and it was more than 20 mins after sitting down that we actually got a pot of tea.
Food, beer, staff, rooms, lounge and general atmosphere – all great.
Bathroom was a tad on the small side, but I'm being very picky.
Breakfast. Good location for our visit. Staff got friendlier as the trip continued
Room looked a bit tired. Initial welcome from staff was not great.
Great place to stay. Lots of character.
Staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. Lively bar on Saturday night.
Quality of Room Peaceful location Excellent food in the restaurant Comfortable beds Friendly staff
good breakfast and the quietness
Good Position Local pub Nice area
Just observation Just a bit too pricy on their food Breakfast ok Girl needed a smile
Very accommodating and all staff very friendly. Ideal location for all we wanted to do and see!
the location, lovely and very helpful staff.
the small double room is VERY small...be warned!
Beautiful well-kept old building, cosy interior and comfy bed in a house with a historical background for herriot fans: a plaque reminds the guests that Mr and Mrs James Alfred Wight (better known as "Herriot") spent their honeymoon in this very building in 1941. And unlike Skeldale House in Askrigg, the Wheatsheaf Inn does not charge horrendously for this: Also single travellers with a low budget are welcome to spend a night here at a reasonable price. However, the service is excellent; the cooked breakfast is marvellous and hotel lounge as well as the pub bar are very cosy. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfy; and thanks to the piece and quite of the area, I slept like a baby.
The single rooms are a bit small, but ok for the price.
Welcoming friendly staff, good food and good service
Although it had a great bar, there not a lot to in the evenings, no tv or music, pool etc, which may suit some people
The bar, the beer, the ambiance.
The food was not impressive. I had the impression that a microwave was used often. It might be better to have less to select from and concentrate on freshly sourced and cooked food. This was especially true of fish dishes.
Beautiful old village in unspoilt countryside, within walking distance of Aysgarth Falls and Castle Bolton. The food was very good, and staff friendly.
The Inn is a little run down.
Excellent treatment by all the staff very friendly we were made to feel welcome. Food was brilliant and service very good.Very helpful with advice for local attractions, we would definitely visit again.
The only little thing that was wrong was that the mattress was too soft for our liking but it is a very personal choice
A warm welcome from the girls on reception and great room - evening meal was excilent and freshly cooked - we had a good nights sleep and a wonderful breakfast - best night of our stay in Yorkshire Moors & Dales - definatly return when in the area again
Leaving for home
most everything was what was expected. If you had questions or needs, just ask the staff or the two hard working owners. Great central location for daily hikes in a around the Dales. Food was local and very satisfying.....
Being from the States, I was expecting new towels each day. not a problem as if you ask for anything, the owners/staff will be more than accommodating. Local beer was a nice change but an IPA would have been nice (well, when in Rome..... ?).
Lovely village location. Friendly staff. Comfortable room.
Always made to feel at home. Very friendly great breakfast lovely dales atmosphere in a dales village
