There was a lot of pet hair in the carpet. It looked clean from the perspective of a standing adult, but when I got down on the floor with my rolling/trying to crawl baby, you could see the carpet was full of it, and he was covered in it after being down there. There was a kitchenette taking up most of the room (the annex "family suite") which was rendered a waste of space by the fact that there was no refrigerator, pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, etc. The "family suite" was also the handicapped-accessible room, so it had no bathtub; thankfully we could just barely fit our son in the kitchenette sink. There was no phone in the room to call the desk. Three mobile numbers for emergencies were provided, but they were useless because we had no mobile signal in the entire valley outside of Hardraw (O2). Thus when we needed anything we had to go outside (annex has an outside door) and around to the front desk. Loo roll wasn't replaced until completely out. Wifi is only available in the restaurant or lounge inside the front door, but not in the rooms. I think in all it wasn't bad but I guess given the high ratings here and the price I had slightly higher expectations.
Great location in Wensleydale - beautiful area and very close to Aysgarth Falls. It was nice to have several different options at breakfast, especially including salmon. They always had the highchair set up for us at breakfast along with some children's cutlery which was very sweet. Our room was reasonably sized and there was plenty of parking. The restaurant was convenient and some dishes good. Some of the staff were very friendly, and all staff were helpful when asked.
