We had a very good weekend and would return to this hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff, good breakfasts, overall excellent. Size of the evening meals, I had lamb and it was no more than a table spoon in size of meat, could do with being a larger portion, I only eat medium size meals, but as already stated this was small in meat value, more for a child.

The staff were very friendly - I was late to check in but they rang me and offered to keep the chef on duty until I got there if I wanted an evening meal; a very thoughtful touch. There was a delightful open log fire in the lounge and, although I was travelling alone, I felt very comfortable and able to sit in the bar area. Breakfast was delicious and the staff, although attentive respected my privacy. Excellent and very comfortable and spotlessly clean room.

The management was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was cold, radiator under window should be relocated to help heat room in cost effective way.

We think that the Wheatsheaf had a very good "homely" atmosphere and a freindly and welcoming staff. The accomodation standard was good and the food was excellent. The only thing that was a concern (although a minor one) was the temeprature in the rooms. It was a bit chilly at night, and our freinds who stayed in the cottage said it was very cold overnight.

The location is ideal as a base for travelling to other locations such as Coldstream, Berwick and Edinburgh. The rooms are comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. The staff are all very welcoming and courteous at all times and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The food is to die for. There are usually specific menu items as well as a specials board with lots of choice for all tastes. We waited the minimum amount of time to be served and the food was excellently presented and tasted fantastic. This is the second time we have stayed at The Wheatsheaf but I guarantee it won't be the last!

Stayed in one of the cottages, this was booked for one night as final stage of trip to Scotland. On the ground floor was a living room, kitchen and bathroom, and upstairs was the bedroom. The cottage was spotless and had everything in that was needed. A hospitality tray was provided with coffee, hot chocolate and a vast selections of teas, We dined in the restaurant, the staff were friendly and first class service was given throughout the evening which matched the first class food. The breakfast had a good and varied selection to choose from and again service was first class. A lovely way to end a holiday.

“We stayed for 3 nights and were upgraded by manager for free when we got there. It is a beautiful hotel, very clean and comfortable, the staff where excellent . The food was really good , we have stayed in 5* hoteks in the past and i would say the collingwood arms were better than some of them. Thank you kevin and all your staff for a lovely 3 day break, we will return in the summer.” Nicola, Liverpool |
