The wide, tree-lined market place in Brackley, with its Georgian and Victorian houses and shops, is the delightful setting for this 13th century coaching inn.

Score from 39 reviews Good
OK for 1 night stay. Bed was not very comfortable. Staff busy.
Good Locations, Affordable, Nice Food
Poor Room condition, Lots of Damp & funny Smell.
very very friendly staff
excellent staff, location and facilities
being picky, an extra pillow wouldn't have gone amiss
Location, cleanliness, food
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The history of the old hotel was interesting. The town was quiet and pleasant in a lovely area. Room could use another electrical point. The bathroom in our room was spacious. Being an older mature couple we would have preferred a room lower down. However, after seeing the room at the very top of the hotel we decided to take it anyway as it was very spacious. The last flight of stairs up were extremely steep with limited headroom. We would stay again if in the area.
All the flights of stairs to our room, but staff offered to find another room for us, but after seeing it we made the decision to stay in it anyway.
Food and location room size.
Single bed very small
Friendly reception staff, location, room decor (apart from the damp patch)
Horrible, noisy pub downstairs with lots of arcade machines, pool tables and intimidating people outside the front. Terrible mattress. Toilet seat very old, damaged and loose. The person above doing a Tango at 6 in the morning on the creakiest floorboards you ever heard
Staff very friendly and helpful & quiet room :)
Friendly helpful staff. Excellent Breakfast - really good value. Evening meals in bar if required. In centre of town with free parking.
Bar areas looking old . Clean towels not supplied everyday. Overall decor needs brightening up
Good food, reasonably priced, thought I was getting a single bed, and got a double (much to my surprise). As someone who is over 6 foot tall this was a welcome bonus. Staff very friendly. Funny receptionist who, when I arrived and asked where the car park was, asked me (dressed in leathers and bike helmet) whether I was in a car?! - Very funny! Bar staff very attentive, would recommend for an overnight stay.
Gravel on car park not good for a motorbike. Minor gripe really.
Hotel in the centre of the city and the staff is very nice. This could be a nice place with a few simple repairs and maintenance. I would stay again if the bathroom were cleaner and in good order, and the pillows were not lumpy.
Bathroom needs repairs and extra cleaning, rust removed, etc. Common areas, stairs, hallways are yukky. Beds and pillows are really uncomfortable.
The room was quiet but the acess is strange because it is through a pub.
Large comfortable bed Remote control air con system, Delicious food, Extremely friendly and helpful staff, Beautiful location, Lovely history of the building explained in a book in the room.
I have notheing bad to say regarding this hotel!! We will definitley be back!
Being a resident didn't give priority simple thing like wanting to finish my drink as a resident and made to leave at same time as locals.
It's a good clean hotel good facilities friendly staff easy to find good size rooms
U can't connect to wifI that easy when in room
location. good price.
the bed was very uncomfortable. two side lights didnt work. Air conditioning cannot not be lower to a certain level. and the toliet doesnt seems as clean as it could have been. The floor seems a little sticky.
Location in middle of town ideal but much more could be made of the hotel to make it a must visit when in town. This place has serious potential .
People smoking in entrance doorway. Dark decor a little dated and tired. A major opportunity lost to make this a great place.
The staff were pleasant and friendly, the breakfast was well cooked and plentiful.
The room was small and dark, the curtains were hanging off the hooks and the nets needed to be ironed. There was no plug in the washbasin. The supposedly private parking was a nightmare, it was very small, you were very lucky if you could actually get a spot to park. Admittedly it is a very old building but it could do with a refurbishment to brighten it up.
Staff were all superb over our 2 day stay.
Boiling water to make tea at breakfast would improve an otherwise excellent set up.
The staff kindly moved us to a quieter room way up in the roof of the building! The food was OK accepting it was a pub!
Small rooms, creeky floor boards, and due to the location, quite noisy.
Proper pub with a homely feel
food and staff very good
lovely old building but could do with a refurbishing
Staff had lovely manner, like they did actually care. Mixed grill was outstanding, very well done chef. Room good, bed gave full night's support of unbroken sleep, bathroom clean. Breakfast was spot on, made to order, can't get better than that.
As hotel was built before motor vehicles were designed, car park small; fine enough if you can forgive this one characteristic.
On arrival we got a room on the second floor. As my husband is not too good with stairs, we asked if this could be changed. We received a much bigger room on the first floor without any problems or extra cost.
