Friendly staff, nice food and especiallythe cooked breakfast. Handy for Newbury by-pass and A4. Quiet location. Nice garden area.
Room a bit chilly, felt damp, needed to put heater on for most of the stay.
room, location, restaurant, pub
A friendly Homely atmosphere
Breakfast Comfy bed Clean
Single room was quite tight
Comfortable room Good chose of menu.
housekeeping needs a bit more detail.
Really nice bedroom & comfy bed AMAZING AMAZING lunch and breakfast (amazing salad and dressing for lunch and then porridge in the morning)
Extractor fan by the bedroom
Food was outstanding Staff very friendly Lovely décor Setting beautiful - love the gardens Nice touches - fresh flowers, big towels, bottled water Powerful shower
Bed hard - didn't make for a good night's sleep Attention needed on cleaning - not completely clean in bathroom (hair in sink and on floor, dust around radiators and skirting boards, drips down back of bathroom door No toilet seat lid - not hygienic considering sink above toilet - remember when you flush germs fly. I didn't appreciate being able to look into the toilet whilst washing etc.
smelly bathroom? problems with drains
delicious food friendly staff lovely beer garden comfy bed
not very well equipped in rooms(no iron or board) and no shelf in bathroom to put toiletries on. Also shower didn't work very well.
Smell of rooms Cleanliness of rooms
rooms lovely decorated and furnished
location, much further away from our destination than was led to believe, costing us a lot of money in taxi fares
Friendly helpful staff. Good food. Cosy atmosphere and lovely gardens outside. The setting of the place in general.
Bathrooom rather small and needed just a bit of tlc.
Incredibly helpful staff, gorgeous and huge rooms and delicious breakfasts.
The Staff was exceptionally polite. At check in extremely courteous and helpful. Breakfast was terrific they went out of their way to make you very comfortable.
Nothing !!! Everything was perfect.
- very dog friendly - dog allowed in the bar and in the restaurant with us for breakfast. -lovely room - beams and skylight window - bathroom very modern with light up mirror. -food was great - added items to our tab throughout our stay
Lovely setting ; very quiet generally and cool in heat of summer; fresh grapefruit for breakfast and excellent kippers; staff all too willing to help; bar and breakfast area had character and genial place to start a very busy day
Single bedroom wasn't large though bathroom was spacious;
If you are looking for a quiet countryside location then this it. Excellent service good food and a decent selection of beers. The location alone makes up for the negatives!
The single rooms need some minor work on the decor and the shower could do with a decent head that doesn't spin due to the water pressure. Main bug bear though is the poor wi-fi which was described by the staff as temperamental which to be honest is an understatement. Phone signal depending on network is also a challenge.
Location was good,so nice and quite. And the setting inside, was fab too. And the room, was a good Size too.
The only thing for me,i would say maybe is mattress ! Was just a bit firm for me. But still slept ok,just use to a softer mattress !
The rooms had private entrances and were a great size and well equipped. Great, friendly, helpful staff Good food, though it is a little more on the gastro pub side rather than traditional pub. Best fish and chip meal followed by best chocolate fondant pudding! Lovely charming buildings
Bathroom looked a little dated but still clean and functional As the family room was above our room you could hear children jumping around, but you get this in a lot of hotels!
Quiet location, nice food if a bit pricey, friendly staff
Bathroom poor, toilet flush didn't work well, dust in the bedroom on plugs etc, no wi fi connection
Look from outside.
Room old, dirty insects in room no wi-fi service. Food average and cutlery and dishes not washed properly.
The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The food was extraordinary for such a small pub and the chef was a delight coming out to talk about how he was cooking that night.
Nothing, do people really report the correct facts of these hotels ,don't always rely on peoples recommendation
Bad information on this hotel
The food was excellent, and it is a wonderful place to stay, good walking.
Welcome stop over, good beer garden & food.
Tiny bathroom, dripping tap, loose toilet seat. Lack of toiletries, area outside bedroom untidy.
