Location was perfect for the station and journey to Plumpton in the afternoon then Brighton in the evening. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, the food was good and the price was excellent value,I have recommended to others already
Excellent breakfast Convenience, well situated in centre of town
Extremely noisy function on Weekend. The room seemed to be directly above the function and the music was far too loud. It is accepted that such function is a common event particularly this time of year. However, the noise could have been toned down just a little
Amazing views, fantastic breakfasts, great location, historic building
Old bed, noisy bathroom fan, the property needs a refresh
The hotel character and friendly staff.
Location, and very friendly staff
The annexe is a fairly unappealing place to stay, very tired and in major need of refurbishment.
Good breakfast, much better than our last visit.
Room at the front of the hotel very noisy, ask for a room at the back. En suite needs updating.
No wifi in rooms only place to connect was outside gym which was so cold that I could not sit for more than 5 minutes
leisure suite is excellent. Parking is good for a city centre hotel.
The annexe is cheaply built with thin doors and walls, so you hear other guests above, below and all around you. After things had quietened down for the night four men arrived back at the hotel at 3am, apparently after a night's drinking. They woke everyone up, talking loudly as they tried to find their rooms, and knocking on each other's doors. We never got back to sleep after that and were both very tired the next day. On checking out the receptionist apologised for this, and said many guests had complained, but she did not offer a discount.
Thank Youeverything, room, pool, lovely food.
lights were too bright. lovely tree, fire, candles, do not need spotlights too, blinding, and not cosy!
Central location Ample parking Close to station Generous hot buffet breakfast Helpful staff Building full of character Real ale well kept and served
In need of a little attention in places, not easy in an historic building.
Don't need 200 characters, everything, to our satisfaction.
location of hotel was central, Hotel communal areas suitable for relaxing, staff were freindly. ample choices for breakfast.
Limited parking, directions to car park not signed so easy to miss entrance. The ensuite facilaties was outdated in 1 room we were using, not suitable for people with mobility issues, no grab rails or bath mat to prevent slipping. floor was slanted in areas of bedroom, the dressing table was sloping and items rolled off it.
Its location and comfirt of bed.
Everything else, except thd location and comfort if bed.
Lovely old place very good breakfast shame a few little things let it down .
Very nice place let down by basic faults. Leak in bathroom water all over the floor.not hot water tap working snapped off.no internet anywhere in the building, not good if you have to do business via the net. One member off staff seemed a bit Sargent major attitude.
Great service & value for money. Large corner bath.
Room was very hot & shower curtain did not fit so bathroom very wet
Staff extremely helpful and friendly
The bed could have been comfier
The main hotel building was nice as was the breakfast and although we did not make use of the swimming pool or sauna the available faciltiies seemed good.
We were in a room in an annex building out the back which was being heated by some terrible air heating system. It was like walking into a toxic cloud and we had to sleep with the window wide open.
Some of my dinner was very good Parts were undercooked, but we didn't pay for it in the end The old bit of the building The location Views from the bedroom and dining/breakfast area
Staff didn't seem bothered, possibly due to management. Service seemed to die out at 9.00, along with the fire in the bar. Room right at top, above kitchen, a furnace - window open all night in November. No lift, no offer of help with bags, very steep & narrow stairs.
Good ambience, bar serves Harvey's Sussex Bitter, good central location. Nice breakfast. The conservatory and roof terrace, with views, are plusses
Bottom car park to reception suits the mountaineer - but that is because of the Lewes topography. Could probably do with a makeover but that might spoil the ambience. Plumbing works but needs modernising. Staff dutiful but not relaxed
friendly and helpful staff in hotel, especially in the leisure areas, great location.
bedroom a little tired and dated, bed could be larger and more comfortable. Spa pool too cold to use.
The bed was so uncomfortable, due to the poor quality of the mattress, that we ended up sleeping on the carpet instead.
Location clean place to stay
Very noisy in the morning from traffic in the town ,
Historic and homely feel Breakfast was very good Parking always a problem in Lewes, Hotel having its own parking was a plus point
In need of a good spruce up and decoration Surfaces in places unclean I'm only five foot nine and the bed in my room was too short for me Wireless Internet not available in room
Friendly staff, great breakfast, excellent location for shopping and a walk on the South Downs!! Such a relaxing night away from home!
There was nothing to not like!
The breakfast was superb
Bed was lumpy and the radiator in the room had been left on 5, which made the room unbearable hot, when we first arrived.
