“Easy access to town centre food was very lovely staff very friendly and professional”

Bradford
A former 16th century traveler's inn, this hotel rests in the heart of the picturesque and historic Lewes, offering modern facilities while keeping its old world charm. Rich with history, the hotel is known as the cradle of American Independence, where Thomas Paine forged his radical policies in the debating club of the old inn. His pamphlet "Common Sense" sold half a million copies in 1776 and inspired the Declaration of Independence, signed later that year. Wood paneling, oak beams and open fireplaces all create a welcoming atmosphere. The White Hart Hotel has been substantially developed to offer a health club, restaurant and lounges for guests and locals alike. Hotel Rooms: 52, Hotel Chain: Legacy Hotels. Most recent booking for this hotel was today at 01:04 from United Kingdom.

The four poster bed was very comfortable. The decor was shabby/ The staff were very unfriendly, the receptionist on arrival was verging on rude, night porter didnt answer the door for ages/breakfast staff ignored us. Check out receptionist was lovely-Spanish guy. Annoyed that I paid £20 more for my room than my friends. No biscuits on the tea tray.

Position in area. Linen/towels in the bathroom were absolutely disgraceful, frayed at edges and certainly did not resemble the white I know . The continental breakfast was sadly lacking - no cheese or ham etc.

The staff were relaxed but friendly; the room a good size Iwas disappointed that the bathroom needed up-dating eg the shower was had no spray head so a gentle flow rather than a spray; also I could only gete 4 channels on the tv ;all with bad reception

It was in a great location, well priced, and provided me with everything I needed. The staff were exceptionally friendly, particularly the young lady at reception who assisted me with my requests and showed an interest in my visit/business. I will definitely be staying here again in the future and I have already recommended it to friends. The only flaw I could find about the hotel was that the room I stayed in had squeaky floor boards. This issue was not a problem for me as such but I feel other guests may be annoyed with the noise.

Foos was disappointing, especially breakfast, which appeared to have been pre-plated so that beans and egg were beginning to congeal.

The spa arrangements where fine. The hotel in general is in desperate need of a make over. The towels both in the spa and the room are frayed and need replacing. As does most of the other soft furnishing.

The location for my working locations is good. Friendly bar staff. Plesent views from the terrace bar. The rooms are pretty tired and the shower / bathrooms need refitting totally. The shower in the room (annex room) was poor with low pressure and not very hot water. Parking can be an issue also on some nights.

The Annex rooms we were given upon arrival were poorly lit, very dated furniture and decor, tired and shabby in appearance. I originally booked a Double room as advertised in the online brochure, but when we checked in we were given a dark dingy room in The Annex away from the main building. Staff were rude at breakfast and not willing to let us choose our table to eat at. The price of £75 was excessive in our opinion for the standard of room we were given.

The staff were consistently helpful. When our TV malfunctioned we were able to watch another immediately (to catch the last episode of a series). The swimming pool etc is a real plus. Having good car parking is helpful. The annexe was quiet - easy access and good for sleeping The inclusive breakfast was fine. The lunch/dinner menues are a bit like pub food (scampi etc) and need updating and modernising

Nice period detail and great location. Swimming Pool and facilities were a nice bonus. Very unhappy to be told on arrival the bar would be open as long as we would have need of it, just to ask the porter. On returning to the hotel we found this was not the case and were rudely told it was closed by the very grumpy night porter.

The staff and breakfasts were good. The room needs lots of tlc the bed was the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in. The shower was badly positioned especially for people over average height. The tv was only able to show 4 channels.

Being put on the third floor. I am recovering from a chest complaint and so did not wish carry my heavy bag up the stairs. It felt like it was a lot of trouble and I had to wait 20 mins before a chef brought it to the room. I carried it down myself when I left as I hadn't the nerve to call for assistance at 7.15 a.m. It is a lovely old tudor building so I appreciate they can't have a lift but I do think they should offer a better portering service. Bed was very hard. Room stank of smoke from the open fires in the bars. Wifi only available in lounge not the rooms. Breakfast doesn't open until 7.30, though they did rather grudging let me take a couple of croissants from the buffet. The receptionist who checked me out was quick and pleasant but did not ask me how my stay had been. (Perhaps wisely!) It felt like everything was just too much trouble at this hotel.

Great location in centre of High Street with parking (but limited spaces). Very nice restaurant and conservatory. Good spa, although no time to use it. A bit tired. Rooms and public areas need a facelift.
