Score from 291 reviews Good
Historic and homely feel Breakfast was very good Parking always a problem in Lewes, Hotel having its own parking was a plus point
In need of a good spruce up and decoration Surfaces in places unclean I'm only five foot nine and the bed in my room was too short for me Wireless Internet not available in room
Friendly staff, great breakfast, excellent location for shopping and a walk on the South Downs!! Such a relaxing night away from home!
There was nothing to not like!
The breakfast was superb
Bed was lumpy and the radiator in the room had been left on 5, which made the room unbearable hot, when we first arrived.
Really needs updating
The hotel is well situated for the shops and places of interest.
Not being able to use the Internet in my room
Rooms very good
Bar meals very poor
Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast good served in pleasant conservatory.
Room we were allocated smelled musty. Walls so thin one could hear conversations and TV. Furnishings out of date and shabby. Windows didn't shut properly and double glazing had been removed. Two nights of interrupted sleep due to traffic noise and inconsiderate guests.
Had a car park at back & Leaving
Rude receptionist, ask for double quiet room, got twin above private party bar, so noisy. Told as booked with cheap rate get what given. BedS well past it, felt springs hence bad night sleep, room overlooking outside opposite traffic lights.
location free parking breakfast
far too hot very tired and threadbare
Central location with free parking.
Unsmiling, unfriendly reception staff. Very tired, very dated interiors of a shabbily presented annexe. Incredibly uncomfortable bed.
Decor is very old Bed had collapsed on one side TV too small No wifi in room You can hear other rooms doing the loo
Location on High Street was excellent. Hotel was an old coaching house and therefore charmingly quirky in places. There was a pool and other leisure facilities, which we did not use but looked good.
Some bathroom fittings (extractor fan, bath tap) were not working properly and some of the high level areas particularly in Conservatory could have done with a dust - cobwebs etc. Breakfast had to be taken in the conservatory which was a little chilly even at this time of year, perhaps heating is put on later. Some areas required a bit of TLC. Wi Fi only in limited area (one lounge)
restaurant nice, good food
Bed had dip in it, radiator did not work small electric one provided not adequate, bathroom tap constantly dripping, wall shelf loose
No cold water from shower
Convience to the bus service. When I notified I would be having breakfast at 7:00 AM, one staff member made me a sandwitch to take with me. Food was excelent. Coffee & tea were made accessable after hours.
The wifi was down for a day because the password wasn't available. I needed connectivity for a course I was taking. Form 407 wasn't made accessable so that I can recover the VAT since I am an American citizen not British for which the tax is assed.
Room in annexe, approached via a gloomy leaking passage under kitchen extraction systems. Hallways smelt of damp and boiled cabbage.
Staff were excellent, helpful, considerate and informative. Breakfast in the conservatory was a very pleasant experience, immediate service, quality food and nice ambiance. Towels and toiletries were of a high quality.
Carpets tatty in some places.
On-site car parking, good value food, and closeness to the town facilities.
The bedroom window was blocked by extension to the building, consequently the light level was very poor
Town centre, friendly staff
Generally run down condition of the hotel. Carpets need replacing throughout, rooms dated (coloured bathroom suite cracked & missing wall tiles). Bed very soft & small, despite a good size room.
Good comfy bed, very good breakfast. New clean bathroom/ shower. Excellent location. Very pleasant, helpful staff.
Tired decor, could all do with repainting and updating. Didn't see anyone drinking in the bar area as I didn't last time I stayed. Room and corridor very hot too (though I could turn down the heating in my room ).
Lovely interior, full of character. Great location on the High Street and close to the station. Breakfast was very good and the restaurant lwas light and airy.
Only one minor quibble and that was that my particular room was very dark and I had to have the light on at all times.
Good value, beautiful property, friendly staff, lovely pool x
