After a local charity weekend music festival we decided to book into the White Hart along with three other family members. My father was given a lovely big double room as a single occupancy. We also had a lovely airy spacious room with beautiful far reaching moorland veiws. This hotel has some brilliant attentive happy staff, great food where the chef has made an extra effort to present the food. Also there is a very well stocked bar.
Having to leave!
Kind and helpful staff. Good food locally sourced Well converted old hotel
Pay car park daytime hours.
Friendly staff, good sized room & bathroom.
Would have been good to be able to open a window as the room felt stuffy at night. I think it was possible but I was on a room facing directly onto the road so didn't attempt.
The food, the comfort, the beer,
The locals talk outside all night, fair enough , they cant smoke inside but wish they would go home when the pub shuts
Liked location and village was great. Staff were very helpful.
Didn't like the room, needed a good clean too.5
Far reaching beautiful Moorland views. A bright spacious tastefully decorated room with a good sized comfortable bed. However the highlight of our stay was our lunch, dinner and after dinner drinks at the well stocked bar. Extra effort has been put into their meals.
Not being able to stay for a second night!
Warm welcome. Comfortable Big room with very nice view. We asked for a room with view over the countryside and really got it. Excellent food and very nice wine list with several bottles from South Africa
This is an old town centre hotel that has been refurbished to a high standard. We arrived on one of the hottest days of the year and nothing was too much trouble for thstaff, sorting fans and keys to open the windows. Room a very good size and very comfortable beds. Good value too. We ate in the restaurant in the evening having Mussels and BBQ ribs. Both were excellent. Wine sensibly priced. Breakfast was good too, full English was excellent.
Perfect base for exploring Dartmoor, friendly staff, spacious rooms, and outstanding service!
If you bring a car, bear in mind that the hotel does not provide parking, you need to use the public car park a couple of yards down the road, which costs £3.20 per day (excluding Sundays) during the summer. If you are from the continent, be aware that there are no Maestro card capable ATMs in the village. The local co-op cash machine does support VISA cards, however. If you have a Maestro bank card or MasterCard and are in need of cash, the nearest suitable ATM is right next to the ASDA superstore in Newton Abbot.
The chef produced a very good vegetarian option for my wife not on the menu and the lamb tagine I selected was very tasty. The hotel was exactly as expected from the website photographs.
thought the staff were very friendly and helpful especially on Reception. thought free wifi was good too
need mirror with (ideally nearby 3pin plug socket for hair tong) nearer natural daylight! (female request of course)
An old, town hotel carefully renovated to a high standard. Very friendly, helpful staff.
Great location to visit Dartmoor. Lovely place to relax. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the service was very good. The bedroom was comfortable and it was very quiet.
Staff - very friendly and helpful. Lounge - spotless, comfortable and relaxing.
Lack of free and convenient parking.
Comfortable clean room, delicious breakfast and nice staff
Great location in Moreton and surrounded by beautiful countryside and lovely small towns. The hotel staff are wonderfully accommodating; we stayed in The Mews because I needed a ground floor room and it was perfect, clean and comfortable. Will certainly stay again.
There was nothing to dislike.
Everything good. Comfortable room, excellent food, staff friendly and helpful. Good base for Dartmoor and Devon exploring.
Parking in public car park slightly inconvenient
On arrival staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was very clean and most of all we had a very good night sleep due to a comfy bed. Would definately stay again and would recommend.
Mattress wasn't uncomfortable but was extremely soft.
we paid £105 per night which we felt was quite expensive. Having said that the room was large and clean and homely and all the staff were excellent. We all came on large motorbikes which were accommodated in the courtyard and were made to feel really welcome.
Felt that the price was a bit high for the location.
Great room, great location
Despite a request, they could not supply us with any breakfast foods, croissant, cereal etc. before we had to leave to catch an early morning plane.
The Mews was clean, comfortable and central.
We came back after a local wedding at midnight. There was no bar available for guests. Breakfast on Sunday finishes at 9.30am....should be 10.00am.
Good for the moor
Noise from road Poor coffee
Lovely large bedroom, very clean, excellent bed, nice breakfast, good ambience generally. Without asking, I was given a room upgrade. Was automatically invited if I wanted an evening meal at the hotel. I did, and all three evening meals were excellent. Would recommend this hotel to people without hesitation.
Difficult to open the bedroom windows. The lack of car parking space at the hotel was slight problem but I would not want to see the hotel 'wrecked' to accommodate car parking space. The whole town of Moretonhamstead has a 'car' problem: Too many cars in a small picturesque town and the council's policy is right to 'clamp down' on car usage(Double yellow lines on every street,)
