Score from 168 reviews Superb
This historic Gothic mansion sits in tranquil parkland on the Cotswold Edge, beside the Severn Valley and close to Bristol. It offers fine dining, a leisure club, and spacious, traditional rooms.

Dating from the 12th century, the historical Castle Inn Hotel boasts original features and an innovative restaurant. Situated in picturesque Castle Combe, the Castle Combe Circuit is half a mile away....
Score from 113 reviews Fabulous
Poor customer service, overpriced and terrible food in restaurant. Isolated place so nowhere else to eat means that you are pretty stuck with bland Tasteless food from staff who couldn't care less!
The Onion marmalade Jam !! that was amazing
location was stunning perfect for a short break anytime of the year. Room very comfortable excellent decor
I can't say i disliked anything but i was disappointed with the food few choices not available and what we had was average. some staff could have been a little more engaging
The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the room. The photos are misleading. We were expecting a cozy inn and the room but a bit dingy. Everything else was great. Can't complain.
Lovely historic inn with beautiful grounds, pub, and dining room. Food was delicious and beautifully presented to include breakfast.
Room on the first floor was comfortable, but could hear every movement of the guests above us. No robes or pen and paper in the room. Would have liked to read about the history of the property either in the menu or a guide in the room.
Accessible as I rely on a walking stick
Dogs mess at bar door
location is great and the room was very nicely decorated. Food in pub was delicious and very reasonably priced.
Stayed in a ground floor room which was lovely but the floorboards in the upstairs room creaked very badly and that guest was up at 5 moving around until he finally left about 7. Not quite sure how he found so much space to walk about for so long!!
The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was very good, the room was clean and comfortable. What's not to like? The location was perfect for a short break and we can imagine that it is even better in the summer when you can sit by the stream on a warm evening.
The bed was a little firm, but not a major problem.
Great room size, comfortable facilities and an excellent restaurant and pub for dinner and breakfast.
Rooms are really noisy if on ground floor with creaking ceilling from first floor guests, kept us awake for hours. And to hot even with radiators off and window open.
Atmospheric, comfortable, good food, quiet.
Not really a bad experience but lovely Jøtul wood burning stove in dining room was not lit for breakfast - hence a bit chilly. Waitress apologised and cheerfully said no-one had lit it. Someone should have done!! Lack of on the ball management??
The staff were very friendly the food and room were great would come again thanks trevor & simone
The beautiful location and setup. Very tasteful interior. Friendly atmosphere.
These are small niggles really but as a young couple we missed out on both occasions for breakfast as it is latest served at 10.Floorboards creaked a lot overhead. This however did not spoil our stay one bit.
The location and buildings are beautiful. The staff friendly and efficient. The whole place was generally very well decorated and dressed. Food was very good, although most items 25% too expensive
Noise from the room above, when I had requested a quiet room on booking. Price of some items on menu were a little silly. £25 for a fillet steak in a pub is way off target and th best part of £3 for a small bowl of greens with a value of probably less than 50p suppresses the appetite somewhat. As some other reviewers remarked, for the price of the room, a cooked breakfast option should have been included. Minor detail but there was a bulb out in the bathroom making it gloomy in there, housekeeping oversight no doubt.
One of the best and staff friendly hotels I have been to and set in a beautiful location
Nothing was fantastic
Cheerful, welcoming, helpful staff. Reasonable choice of food on the menu. Quick and efficient service. Ability to book a meal online. Bed, bathroom with shower and bath... all v clean.
The lighting was dim... so more difficult to apply 'make up'.
We arrived earlier than expected, but the bar staff were accommodating to our needs as were the rest of the staff whenever they were called upon. Definitely coming back. Food was great and so was the accommodation.
Lovely old building. Pretty location. Friendly Staff. Free Wifi - making it possible to research local places of interest.
Staff were not very knowledgable about local places of interest and there were no leaflets available.
Fantastic food, friendly staff, gorgeous room, comfortable bed, nice atmosphere, lovely surroundings.
What's not to like? Great stay thank you
Food - great. Staff couldn't have been better. Beer - small selection, but well kept. The car park has been relaid and is immaculate.
The rooms are quite noisy - if you have people returning to their rooms after xmas parties at 1.30am and saying noisy goodbyes in the entrance... Should be fine for 51 weeks of the year.
Character of the place The staff were friendly and helpful The decore both in the room and restaurant The welcome basket!
WiFi was poor Coffee was a bit weak Couldn't get a table in restaurant and no option for bar meal.
Location & atmosphere.
On previous visits option of cooked breakfast.
Enjoyed the serenity of the place. It was so quite. Also liked the old structure of the room with old furniture.
Expected an inclusive English breakfast and not that you have to pay extra for. Maybe I did not read carefully what I had to expect for breakfast before booking.
Evening meal was fantastic Location was stunning
The cooked breakfast was very nice, but it should come as standard for the price of the room
