Built around a former 17th-century residence and still retaining much original character, with beautiful oak beams, this mellow Yorkshire stone 4-star hotel is ideally located for visiting Barnsley,...

The room was pretty- although not the one I booked, I'm not sure whether the 'cozy room with exposed stone wall' exists but I certainly wasn't shown it and was put in a twin room with tiny single beds instead
I was not made to feel particularly welcome, it seemed I was more of an inconvenience to the establishment than a paying customer to be welcomed, apparently the guests checking in the following day were more important so breakfast was '8:30am or nothing' The shower temperature was uncontrollable, shooting from hot to cold every few seconds. Although I cannot blame the b&b for this the car alarm that started at 4am did not make for a successful nights sleep.
Good food Comfortable bed
TV not working Washbasin very small and difficult to use
The location, the staff, the food and the warm and friendly atmosphere. The bedroom was clean as was the bathroom. There is no pool, jacuzzi or gym so if you want that pay a lot more and go to a 5 star hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and the staff made us feel very welcome
The bedroom was basic, but we new that before we went. So not a problem to us.
A friendly warm welcome. Great local knowledge that was a huge help. Really couldn't fault in anyway
I was there for 1 evening only
Welcoming staff , great breakfast Vaue for money
friendliness and lovely breakfast
replacement shower curtain needed badly and ensuit quite small
Location was handy for Holmfirth Rooms were clean Breakfast was good Inn was pleasant with outdoor seating areas to front and back
Breakfast and check out felt very early for a weekend (breakfast 8 - 9am & check out before 9:30am).
Friendly owners and locals
Hard bed, no hot water and a very weak shower
Friendly owner...helped us with directions and how to most easily get to the various tourist attractions in Holmfirth. Great value, with an excellent breakfast
decor room friendly service pub food value for money
Very friendly staff. Breakfast really good
Lovely location but a bit difficult to find
Landlord/ landlady great hosts. Excellent breakfast, good value for money. Taxi to picturedrome only £4.00
Beautiful scenery, friendly people
Local Bus service and Taxis were too expensive
Lovely old pub with links to 'Last of Summer Wine' series. Great Landlord & landlady. Had a smashing time
The pub is a drive away from Holmfirth. I booked two rooms at the same time yet despite 2 rooms next to us empty, they put our friends as far away as possible. Why?
The pub and accommodation was very well presented and the character of the building has been preserved. The meal in the evening was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Very helpful and friendly Lovely breakfast Made to feel welcome
Owners were very friendly. Food was excellent and all fresh. Lovely atmosphere in the inn. Room was clean and roomy
Bathroom was a little small but everything you needed was there
Friendly staff, good food, comfortable beds, nice and quiet surroundings with beer garden and stream with waterfall, bus stop at the doorstep.
Room was somewhat small.
Location good, we visited the vineyard in holmefirth which was a great day out. The staff at the vineyard were excellent unlike the staff at the white horse inn.
The staff wasn't very welcoming, breakfast is only served until 9am on a Saturday morning, which they don't inform you of, it is in very small writing with the fire notice and not obvious to see. We arrived for breakfast at 9.10am to be told they had stopped serving, we politely said we were not aware and could they do us something like a bacon sandwich, which they refused, we pointed out that we had spent money there the previous day and were disappointed in it not been made clear when we arrived.
On arrival welcomed at door by landlord. Shown to lovely room. Loved it. Had very nice evening meal in comfortable surrounding s. Had few excellent ales and made feel at home.. very nice breakfast follwing morning. A reccommended experiece.
all very good polite staff good local information from the host, And I slept like a log.
could do with a bit more pressure from the shower.
Friendly Hosts. beautiful ev meal. Breackfast was exellent would stay again Hope to return next year 2015
The bathroom was poor.
Food quality very good. Good sized bedroom but not suitable for someone challenged by steep stairs. We chose hotel because of its association with Last of Summer Wine so enjoyed our stay very much. Beautiful location being so close to Yorkshire dales. Holmfirth is a worth a visit especially for Summer Wine fans.
Everything. We were warm and comfortable with plenty of hot water. The staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent and reasonably priced
