Food was very good, very comfy bed. Nicely decorated room. Roaring fire in bar with comfy chairs. The large roll top copper bath. Friendly staff.
Room had a funny odour, wasn't unpleasant but couldn't work out what it was. Towels smelt like they were dried above the chip pan.
Cosy and well decorated rooms Fantastic food both at breakfast and in the restaurant in the evening Friendly and attentive staff
The pub itself and the restaurant were both fantastic. Really good atmosphere and the food was excellent. Reasonably priced wine list too. The cottage/chalet style accommodation was attractive and(apart from teh noise) did make you feel like you have your own little cottage. The bedroom was sparsely but stylishly furnished. The lovely copper bath was actually pretty impractical; a wall mounted shower would have suited better.
We could hear every word spoken in the neighbouring room and much more besides! There seemed to be no sound-proofing at all. Seriously off-putting and a real detraction from what could otherwise have been a great night away.
Very nice staff in the bar/restaurant area, lovely atmosphere & quirky decor, breakfast was scrumptious & plentiful! totally dog friendly pub, allowing dogs into bar area, just not the restaurant area, but you can still eat in bar area
Rooms not as clean as expected, rugs & floor not as clean as I would have liked. Some decor beginning to look a little tired & worn left with dirty cups & cafetiere for second nights/morning stay, bin not emptied & bathroom not cleaned after 1st night, expected more form chambermaids £110 per nigh b&b
Solo traveller with dog and both of us very well catered for. Dog bed and bowl in room, doggie treats available and lovely to meet other guests with own dogs in relaxed surrounds. Rooms very clean and comfortable, excellent food, both breakfast and dinner and loved the extra touches - fresh milk on doorstep daily, robes and quality toiletries in room, plus 50'' TV screens - great for a night in! Staff extremely helpful and polite. Emily was a great hostess and would certainly recommend to anyone looking for relaxing break around the beautiful Sussex Downs.
Nothing negative. However, would suggest having local route maps for dog walking and a general map for surrounding areas. So much on the doorstep but would be nice to have info at hand rather than having to access local Tourist Info Office.
The little touches were very sweet, milk outside the front door, ear plugs by the bed
A bit warm at night and the heating didn't seem to be very responsive, but good to have windows that open!
Lovely big room, well away from the road; comfortable bed and a great shower. Our dog loved the huge, soft pet bed provided and there is a good, safe walk close by. The breakfast was excelleent.
Nice comfortable room and good food.
noisy "fan" somewhere on the roof
Food - atmosphere Decor - excellent staff
Noisy room - extractor fan outside
I booked this for myself and partner as it was his 40th birthday, we were greeted by a very lovely helpful waitress, who escorted us to our room. The room was magnificent, there was nothing they didn't think of, the character of the whole estate was fab! We booked in for dinner at the hotel, the food was impeccable the best venison I have had, also my partners steak was incredible.
The only thing I could slightly criticise is the hot-tub needs a bit of a clean, other than that, we cannot wait to return.
I loved the setting and ambiance (Hunting Lodge with a modern twist).Tastefully decorated for Christmas and warm and welcoming. Loved the décor in the bedrooms .Nothing better than tucking into what was the best breakfast I have had in years and walking into the Downs from the doorstep.
Nice location. Very good food
Staff slow to respond even when quiet
Very comfortable plush boutique style accommodation cabins with lovely touches such as hand made bathroom cosmetics and fresh milk put outside the rooms for morning tea. Restaurant was FANTASTIC; gorgeous food and a vast choice of wine. A great find, we WILL be going back!
Not a lot!
Everybody was more than accommodating without being in your face! Great food and lovely atmosphere.
setting, decor, breakfast
communications with the hotel, no bath only shower, noisy table at dinner and one dessert which came with an ingredient not listed
Beautiful place/setting. A perfect escape.
Feeling unwelcome at check-in. Staff need to be more friendly/experienced.
Lovely warm atmosphere food was amazing and the bed was lovely and warm and comfortable all the staff were very helpful .
Booked at short notice and were welcomed by friendly staff. Rooms are outstanding and the food in the restaurant was fabulous. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to escape to the great outdoors. Well done guys, Keep up the good work.
The friendly and helpful staff were excellent! The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the food was perfectly cooked.
Great choice of food at breakfast Lovely decor in room Fresh milk in room Ground coffee in room
Such a nice hotel, with fantastic modern decor and furnishings. In really nice quiet countryside. We particularly liked the layout of the hotel - It doesn't really feel like a conventional hotel - you almost have your own little private house / chalet. Also, definitely need to mention how great the staff were. We arrived late on the Thursday night having cycled down from London. We had missed the evening meal slot as the kitchen had closed (understandably, we arrived after 10). Nonetheless, the staff looked after us really well and made sure we had enough to eat. It was really appreciated lots. Excellent service and friendliness. The breakfast was great in the morning. As we were checking out in the morning a wedding party was checking in. i can definitely understand why they had decided to hold their wedding celebrations at the White Horse.
We had a lovely room with a hot tub that was great fun. Our evening meal was very good made up of local game and produce. An all round success.
Lack of a hair dryer in room.
The waiting staff was an excellent lady. Nothing too much trouble.
Off duty staff sat by fire so guests couldn't enjoy it. Also not a good look
I liked everything about it, room very comfortable and food excellent.
Great customer service Very good food Great room Free parking Good WIFI great breakfast good choice of drinks
breakfast is a little late food a little on the expensive side
