Set in the beautiful South Downs, Old Chapel Forge offers gourmet breakfasts, and elegant rooms in a 17th-century chapel. Bognor Regis and historical Chichester are a 5-minute drive away.
Score from 69 reviews Very good
This elegant hotel sits within the 12,000 acre Goodwood Estate, at the gateway to the South Downs. Guests have 2 golf courses, a health club and restaurants serving ingredients from the estate.
Score from 173 reviews Excellent
Just 2 miles from Bognor Regis Train Station and the center of town, and only 5 miles from Goodwood Racecourse, the hotel is located off highway A29 and offers reasonable prices and free parking.
Score from 82 reviews Very good
Conveniently located off the A272 in the middle of Sussex countryside, this historic country inn encapsulates a balance between modern sensibility and rustic charm.
Score from 83 reviews Wonderful
The big Brooklands photo on the wall of the room - I had expected one of those zig-zag patterns shown in some of those photos and was pleased not to get one. The decor in the pub itself - very impressive. The breakfast - wow! And I didn't even have the full breakfast option.
Lack of privacy in the bedroom unless you plunged the whole room into blackness with the heavy curtain. If you wanted some fresh air overnight, leaving the window ajar meant that anyone could gain access. The duvet was too heavy for the temperature, but could not leave the window open - see above. A light bed cover is needed for use if required. No wi-fi access in the room. I get the impression that you know about this but have not cured the problem. The horrible stone wash basin. Your cleaner has to balance the soap on the edge of it because there is nowhere to put it otherwise. It is too high for a small person, which in turn pushes the mirror above too high too. It is all a bit too cramped. Nowhere to put clothes, apart from the hanging rail. No drawers.
Exceptional staff, superb evening meal, early breakfast requested and got. Milk delivered to room door for early morning tea
beautiful rooms and decor. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good pub food and attentative service. Breakfast very good also. Quiet location. Wifi works!
though rooms are beautiful the one we had (top floor) was not very practical with sloping ceiling. Rugs were not very clean.
Friendly staff Cleanliness Design of the room and bathroom
Location, staff, general atmosphere was great just the ticket
Lovely pub atmosphere with superior food and accommodation.
No towels included Had to ask Fire alarm went off at 6 am
The rooms were cute, cosy and very well appointed. The food and choices of wine were fantastic The setting is picture perfect
There was never enough staff working, which made ordering food and drinks and long process. When dining in the restaurant, we heard the manager berate her staff for making simple errors despite them being run off their feet. Clearly she thought it was out of earshot of customers, but to us it ruined what was otherwise a fantastic evening in the countryside. The same manager also scolded my wife for having not told me that our entree had been cancelled because the waiter/waitress was unable to locate us (despite us having told them we were moving inside to escape the night chill).
They were extremely accommodating as we had a young child -- very family friendly, with a cot, children's plates and cutlery, and just very welcoming in general (not always the case with little ones). I found both the accommodation and the meals at the pub to be very good value.
The wait service was a bit touch-and-go, but perhaps the girl(s) were new, and it was quite busy.
Location, atmosphere, dinner and breakfast.
Having to ask to get things tidied up when we arrived.
Excellent location for attending Goodwood. Set in beautiful countryside. Excellent food although quite pricey.
Our room was the upper floor of a cabin and had sloping ceilings which made it a little cramped for the label luxury room.
Hospitality at its best.beautiful inn, glorious gardens, luxurious bedrooms, stag room with romantic hot tub .Food and wine exceptional, local fresh ingredients. The team worked extra hard to take care of all our needs. The personal touch made our stay special.
Friendly staff and excellent feel. Didnt eat but restaurant looked great as well as pub
Absolutely fantastic location, and the rooms were very clean and tastefully appointed. Food was really excellent too!
The walls of the room were paper-thin, and every conversation, TV programme and snore from neighbouring rooms could be heard with completely clarity! This was really an issue when trying to get to sleep, and despite the other wonderful aspects of this pub I'm not sure I could stay here again.
The location, the room and the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Unique rooms and decor - friendly atmosphere - and amazing location & food.
They deliver milk in the morning to your room but I wasn't told the night before so didn't get a drink until I went for breakfast
I loved where The White Horse was situated, close to the Sussex Downs, the setting is stunning would definitely go back
We got this stay on a deal and was excellent for what we paid, dont know if I could have paid full price. We had a stag room so also had a hot tub which we didnt expect. Food was wonderful, the dinner and breakfast. Would go again.
We thought the room should have been cleaner, the standard compared to everything else was disappointing but as I am a cleaner maybe I was being picky!!
We stayed in the 'rabbit' room, which was very modern but tastefully decorated. The bed was large and comfortable, with tea and coffe making facilities in the room. There was a large choice for breakfast, which was very tasty.
As the room appeared to be in the loft it had a sloping ceiling which meant that I had to duck my head to walk past the bed. Although the hotel is described as having a choice of bath or rain shower, with some baths having a roll top or spa function.....ours had neither. Nor did we have a proper shower, just an attachment on the tap. You had to sit in the bath to use this. Our room did not have a 50inch tv as advertised, and although we didn't really care as we were not there to watch tv, it seems like false advertising. The staff were a little slow, and it all seemed a little unorganized. It wasn't clear where to check in or out (just go to the bar). We were left waiting without any acknowledgement. At breakfast we had to ask for a menu , then had to ask for someone to take our order, then had to wait a long time for food. Customer service could be improved for the price! Although it was a lovely hotel, it lacked a certain something and I left feeling it was over priced. Perhaps if the customer service was improved then I would feel better about paying so much to stay here.
Staff were friendly, room was a big surprise, really tastefully furnished not what i expected from a pub. Lots of nice touches, fresh coffee in the room, fresh milk delivered to the door in the am.
Breakfast didnt start until 8am which was too late for me to enjoy.
Beautiful rooms, gorgeous pub, very friendly service and great food.
Slightly pricey. Especially the pub food. 1 course each and 2 drinks came to £65.
Cosy bar, good food.
Room small and rather dark.
The location is very beautiful. The pub itself is very charming, relaxed and comfortable. The food was nice and the staff were very friendly. A great location to get away from the grind of normal every day life.
The room was a little dark, and also a little noisy at night time, not sure if it was the heating or air conditioning. Tea/coffee facilities but no milk, until we realised a bottle had been left by our door in the morning. A nice touch but would have been better if they had informed us, we just thought they had not put any in the room. Lastly, a little expensive for the standard of accommodation.
Food was fantastic. Nice stylish rooms.
No proper shower in bathroom so awkward showering. 25mins late being sat for our dinner reservation with no apology from staff.
