Wells is a beautiful, small city, dominated by it's immense Cathedral. We very much enjoyed both. We spent time within the Cathedral, enjoying it's beauty, a service, and a concert. The shops and restaurants were varied and good, and the market exceptional. The Bishop Palace Gardens were our final treat with it's restful water gardens. All in all an ideal short holiday destination.

Wells is a tiny city-the smallest in the UK. It is full of beautiful historic buildings and is very peaceful. The Cathedral and Bishops Palace gardens are breath taking There are busses to Bristol and other places from the station. Easy 20 minute bus ride to Glastonbury which is a beautiful small town with sacred wells, the Tor, the ruined Abby and lots of independent shops and restaurants

The cathedral is magnificent.
The cathedral is magnificent. Wells is quintessentially a lovely small English city/town which has retained its quaint and elegant look. Good quality products and food available. The Market is on a Wednesday from 9AM-3pm-ish, starting near the cathedral. I highly recommend it to nice people who are interested in treasuring this beautiful place.
The hotel is under new owners and management. Ignore previous moans and groans and go and see for yourselves. Still work going on but did not interfere with our stay. The management and staff were amazing. Most welcoming and helpful. Room was very clean, with new carpet. Bedding and towels class. Bar was a beer drinkers heaven. Never had so much choice of amazing ales. Two minute walk to the Centre and Cathedral. We will return. If you are looking for a comfortable, homely place to stay in Wells please give this place a try.
The staff were all lovely very friendly and helpful. The dinner & breakfast were really good and the Bistrot had a really nice buzzy atmosphere. Obviously it is an old property and a bit higgledy piggledy but that added to its charm. It was so nice being on the market square and added to the Christmas atmosphere. Our favourite stay in Wells out of 3 hotels we have stayed in. We over slept as the beds (bouncy) were so comfortable.
When we arrived we were given a warm welcome by Holly, and homemade cakes were on offer in the beautiful tea room. We stayed in the Master Bedroom which had phenomenal views of the garden, and of Wells beyond. The breakfast was extraordinary. Staff, grounds, location, all were incredible! Every room was a treasure. We felt like guests at a British country house in a marvelous novel!
Sarah, hotel owner was fantastic, couldn't do enough for us. Even made her washing machine available to us.
Terrific room, tastefully decorated with extras. Great bathroom, clean and functional.
All staff in hotel were welcoming. Parking was an issue but made easy with staff assistance.
Easy walk up to market square and stunning Wells Cathedral
I paid for a deluxe room and requested a cathedral view but the room we we given No 44 only had a side cathedral view and was very dark.
Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was very good.
We enjoyed the hotel and Wells very much & I have booked to stay again next year however I have booked a specific room number ,
Everything you could think of was provided. It was a beautiful apartment right in the centre of Wells. It was spacious with lots of personal touches which made it very comfortable. My sister and I often stay at The Swan Hotel in Wells but this apartment will now be our first go to when booking further trips to Wells.
Burcott Mill is a beautiful Mill House in a quiet setting in Wookey.
Our suite was beautifully clean and most comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a good choice on menu.
The hosts were a charming couple and most helpful. Highly recommended.
Location was quiet and rural with a large car park. Very well situated for Wells and the surrounding area. Breakfast was great.
Owner was very helpful in suggesting places to eat for the evening. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable.
Very pretty room with stunning view of the Cathedral. Lovely staff, very helpful. Great breakfast, freshly cooked. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Wells. Excellent Italian restaurant attached to the hotel.
The hotel was a perfect location for our needs. We went to Wookey Hole to visit our son and family.
The welcome at reception was great, very friendly staff member checked us in on arrival and out on the Sunday morning.
The pub below the rooms of the City Arms really exceeded our expectations. The service and food were 5 stars. It was a really fun location for exploring Wells. Really cool place, we loved it.
I cannot praise this place enough! Extraordinarily good value, really comfortable and an excellent Italian restaurant as well! I had a view of Wells Cathedral from my room! Lovely!
This is a truly exceptional family run boutique hotel experience. Everything about Beryl is welcoming and unique. It was the perfect environment from which to explore Wells.
