Good breakfast and friendly staff in the kichen

We clealy wanted to watch the football on the bbc match of the day after asking to put it on which she did for us but the sound was down we asked one of the locals why and he said its always been the same the sound is always off thats one complaint the other was the dark haired girl behind the bar was joining in with the conversation with some of the locals then suddenly all these expletives came pooring out of her mouth as she was getting deeper into the conversation this came over to us as not the thing to do when working in the public arena

Got the timings for breakfast confused but the barman and the waitress with the beaming smile were very accomadating and nothing was too much bother for either member of staff, just sorry I didn't get there names to give them a proper mention.

The white house was clean, nicely decorated and friendly, we have family moved nearby and will definately go back, good Hotel, good bar area and good restaurant, we enjoyed our stay and have no complaints

Room 33. Dirty, paint peeling off the bathroom ceiling, water running brown like the water had been turned off, for about 10 minutes before it flushed through clear. Just generally a grubby feeling to the hotel.

Location is good and food was excellent. We enjoyed our stay.

Hotel needs updating and room was very good apart from very creaky floorboards.

It was a very friendly Hotel. The food was excellent from the breakfast to the evening meal. The staff were very attentive and nothing was any trouble you only had to ask and they would help you.

It was a very old building so you expect a certain amount of creaking etc. The only thing that we had a problem with was the flooring in the bedroom as it was very noisy. I am a very light sleeper and if my husband got up in the night I then had trouble getting back to sleep. But the manager came and looked at it and was arranging for it to be seen to as soon as possible. You couldn't ask for more.

Staff friendly, and enough staff to cope, which was good. Quick service at dinner.

We always book the executive room, as it gives us more space to roam around the room, staff are always friendly in the bar

Receptionist when I paid my bill didnt acknowledge our existence after we paid, he just sat back down and didnt even say see you again soon or even goodbye..

Clean and good value for money.

Room we had was above kitchen so noisy in the morning plus cooking smells were strong in the room.

The beds were nice and comfortable and the bathroom was nice and tidy and clean and the T.V. was a god send and the wake up call was appreciated (for those who requested it) and the room was nice and tidy. The full English breakfast was cooked to perfection and the whole stay was 5 star. I wood definitely recommend it to a friend and family and other people to stay at the White House Hotel. From Richard & David Biffen from Barnsley South Yorkshire who stayed in Rooms 6 & 7 on Monday 25th March 2013 and departed on Tuesday 26th March 2013.

The breakfast was the best i have had in a long time , in fact it was the best ever,the bed was just to our liking nice and firm

Two men shouting at each other at the bar who seemed to be locals , but it was delt with very quickly by the bar staff

Felt rooms were bit outdated and smelt either damp or foisty.

The rooms are great, comfortable and clean. Friendly staff. And great breakfast.

room had been changed to upstairs dispite me ststing.Disabled and a PET. When we got there we had to insist on ground floor then given a room that hadn't been finished being prepped. Cushions and Pillows and throw on the floor. Packets of biscuits had been opened by previous tenant, their booking ticket still on desk, they'd been there four days. and sachet of shampoo in bathroom had been opened. We were on our way to a funeral so wasn't in the mood to get room changed so I...the disabled lady made the bed.

We last stayed here three months ago although we have been using the hotel for 30 years or so. It was everything we expected it to be - quiet, comfortable, simple check-in and easy access when we returned from a late from a function. The breakfast is very good. TIP : Keep an eye on the price as I found it had reduced nearer the date. This is something that can be advantageous.
