Our rooms were of a high quality and the staff were excellent. A pleasure to stay here. The White Swan is in a wonderful location in the centre of Pickering and as a base for further travelling. The breakfasts were very good and the restaurant high quality food and presentation

An excellent hotel, well placed in the centre of town very close to the steam railway and bars/restaurants. The staff were really friendly and helpful and our room in the courtyard was extremely comfortable. We'll be back.

As with many villages Pickering has suffered from the recession and now lacks interesting shops and other quality pubs.

Absolutely wonderful stay. Without exception every member of staff was superb. Would like to particularly mention the handyman who was so kind. Food superb. Just gi that little bit further

This was our 3rd stay at The White Swan and as always we really enjoyed it. The lounge with the log fire, friendly banter,ample newspapers to read over a glass or 2 of wine, what more could you ask for, execellent staff, what more could you ask for...... The food in the restaurant is 1st class and good value. The rooms are always spotless. Pickering is a great location for Dalby Forest where we mountain bike. A great weekend break!

Can sometimes get too crowded in the bar due to popularity although residents can retreat to a private lounge area

Felt overheated as the the heating was on as well as the open fires.

we stayed in the annexe (room 15) room was comfortable, reasonably spacious, warm, wel presented, parking right outside main door to room, all staff very attentive to guest needs, food although slightly pricey was excellent, very well cooked and presented, lovely deep and long bath and nice seperate shower.

would have liked another comfortable chair in room and my only minor, in fact very minor complaint was that there was a build up of limescale around the bath and sink tap.

Excellent Service. Great location and very good room. Food at the restaurant was very good and the log fires in bar and snug helped us have a relaxing evening.

The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The restaurant was good. The bedroom was clean and warm with plenty of space. Parts of the hotel are very old, while other parts are modern, but both blend well, and the hotel has plenty of character.

Very friendly people and all members of staff were very helpful. Excellent food. Nice pre dinner bar, good beer and wines. Ideal location for visiting places such as York, Scarborough, Whitby, North Yorks Moors, Harrowgate and Museums and Yorkminster - and not forgrtting the big wheel and Railway museum in York. Pickering has also one of the restored steam railway stations giving access, by steam train, to Grosmont, Whitby etc., etc.. Excellent secure car park at the rear.

Everything. This is why we returned and will do so again. Especially, all the staff are friendly and courteous. Adam is excellent. The hotel courtyarsd rooms are superb if you have a dog.

No marmalade at breakfast!!

This hotel has pretentions of being something more than what it actually is. Despite having a table booked for the restaurant at 8.00pm and sitting down in the bar at 7.40 we we not shown to a table until just after 9.00pm. The food was poor and the next night we went searching for another restaurant in Pickering. The room was just about acceptable but could have been cleaner.

The welcome and helpfulness of all the staff was exceptional. As a solo traveller I couldn't have been made to feel more at home. The hotel was beautifully clean and the cuisine superb. The best roast lamb I have ever tasted.

Very nice arrangement of rooms and restaurant. Easy parking like a Motel with cars outside bedroom. Kindly allowed us to leave car on departure day whilst on the North Yorks Railway

A little on expensive side but probably worth it.

Rather pricy for the size of room. Didn't eat there as again it was very expensive.

The staff are excellent and the food is very good. Members of the owner's family are around, which tends to ensure a friendly and efficient hotel.

It was warm during our stay and there is nowhere to sit outside except for a small courtyard.
