Having to leave after just one night
The character of the hotel.
The snug was out of bounds because of a private party and the bar was full because its very small so we had nowhere to have a drink before and after our meal. Also our room over looked the bar next door which was really noisy until early morning.
Very comfortable bed and excellent breakfast, and the on-site parking.
The flies in the bar area where we had lunch, and I felt that the price for bed and breakfast was on the high side for the overall experience of staying here.
The food, the drink, the service and the rooms
Location - close to pickering's steam train and surrounding countryside
Noisy drinkers from wine bar next door kept us, and our friends in another, room awake. Room quite small and bland decoration and furnishings. Bathroom odd shape and quite small. Breakfast ok, but personally found the sausage quite strong tasting, but they are good quality.
The Staff, The Location, The Room
One night out of two there was party noise from The Bothy at 2.00am. TV set up and digi-box too complicated. TV remote sound buttons not working.
The room was excellent - spacious with a highly comfortable bed. Service was very good.
The scrambled egg at breakfast was a little runny.
Staff - friendly , position in Pickering . Good parking.
I felt it was a little tired in areas. We had 2 rooms ... Mum s room had no remote for the tv ... Mum being quite small could not reach the buttons on top to use the tv. Staff were very nice but unable to provide a remote ... Think personally it's over priced ... Restaurant was ok ... My risotto was not the best I have had and left over half of it . No comment was made to me ... So think I would stay somewhere else if I needed to be in Pickering.
rooms were excellent and the food in the restaurant was of very high standard as was the service we would most definately try and stay there again thank you Peter and Carys
The building itself is a nice building
The room was ok nothing special for the price and no air con only a window that offered no privacy at all as people walked past constantly. Cooked breakfast was very poor indeed very small, no beans or fried slice, one rasher of bacon although quite thick and sausage wasn't good also cold toast. When your paying circa 140 a night you expect a bit more and in my experience usually get it. Dinner menu wasn't the most appealing so we ate out both nights and then found out that there was a festival on that night for 60's themes which would have been nice to have been made aware of as we would have avoided it. Ambulances, police smashed windows NICE!
Restaurant was excellent. Location was good and our room was superb.
Very Nice, friendly, clean hotel Excellent restaurant, catered for gluten free diet with some prompting. Excellent wines. Bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in. Good location handy for North Yorks Moors Railway Station at Pickering. Good choice and range of other cafes and restaurants very nearby. Loved the resident’s only lounge an alternative to your room if travelling as a group.
Breakfast too expensive. Why not include it for another £5 on the room rate? What would it cost the hotel to provide this service? Had breakfast 50 yards away at less than half of the cost.
Perfect location, staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Very enjoyable stay.
The room was excellent
The bed wasn't very comfy
The inn is located right in the middle of Pickering, as centrally as it gets. There is a fairly large and easily accessible off street parking area which is unfortunately is not locked at night. Check in was fast and convenient. There is no elevator but the staircase is reasonably wide and easy to negotiate. The guest room was quite large, and the bathroom absolutely fantastic. Quality of sleep was good despite the close proximity of a local watering hole. Both the bed and linens were good.
While I like the Inn, I do think that it is overpriced, and the restaurant is overpriced quite horribly. The food is downright bad and the prices on par with those in good restaurants in London.
The staff, the food.
Friendly staff, good food, nice room.
Very excessive noise from the occupants of the room above us on two occasions.
Staff were absolutely amazing!
The chips were undercooked. Bathroom floor was a bit slippy.
excellent food, staff all friendly, would stay again
no where to sit and have a drink, bar area is small and the room opposite is small and was taken up by people eating.
The Bothy. A warm welcome and very friendly and helpful staff. Take away coffee and the offer of a bacon roll on leaving.
High quality, but expensive, Breakfast as part of the £99 bed-only deal would have helped. Waitress at dinner was a little bit lost.
We stayed in one of the hideaway rooms and it was perfect in every aspect.
The friendly atmosphere and local hospitality . would definitely recommend a stay there.
Very nice atomosphere in the center of Pickering. We really enjoy the dinner and traditional English breakfast at the restaurant. Staff were very nice and kind for the family with a little child like us.
The bar was located next door and noisy until midnight. Hard to sleep.
The wonderful staff made the visit special.
