Leisure facilities and location
Bar staff not very friendly
We traveled to Browside for a family reunion. The best part was using swimming pool and etc., The staff were nice and our breakfast was good. We always enjoy traveling to York.
Rooms were small. I doubt they washed the cups properly in the mornings, and I know the spoons were filthy. For the money it could have been much better than that.
Great place to stay with friendly staff, comfortable rooms and great location for exploring the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. Used the gym too even though we were meant to be relaxing! Would stay here again.
The location was good and the breakfast was excellent.
Room decoration was tired and bathroom not very clean. Evening meal was medioca and over priced.
Attached sports facilities
A tired hotel in need of renovation (especially the rooms)
the leisure facilities were good, well kept, and nice. Personally I was disappointed the pool was 1.3 m at the shallow end - I need it to be a bit shallower to feel safe. I appreciate others are not bothered about this, maybe something on the website giving pool depths would help. I loved being able to have a massage the next morning, having had a bout of stiffness in my shoulders. It made a huge difference to our holiday.
The main course was disappointing and not as nicely cooked as it might have been. the lentils were hard, and the duck overcooked with lots of dry bits. breakfast nothing special for the price.
the swimming pool was great, the room was nice with a good size bed, good breakfast.
One member of staff who appeared to be a manager was very rude numerous times throughout our stay, first to my partner and then to both of us. On one occasion we asked him what time the bar stopped serving and he said "we shut the doors at 12" in a patronising manner. when we returned at 5 past 11 he said the bar was shut saying, "I said we shut the doors at 12, everybody spent their money here earlier except you YOU IDIOTS." I've never received such poor treatment from a customer service representative, absolutely disgusted.
Car friendly location, good views, nice distance for walking into town of an evening. (Unfortunately on a very busy road; not family friendly & not possible to use footpaths the whole way. Obviously beyond the hotels control, but important for young families to be aware of.) Lively, busy bar area used by weekenders & locals, well liked bar staff. Good amenities for 3 generation family breaks, especially in a damp, but beautiful region. Very pleasent staff on leisure /spa Reception.
Full room prices/star ratings not truely representative of our stay-experience. Pervaisive 'greasy food ' smell in the restuarant area. Cheap ingredients/poorly cooked breakfast, Dinner better, but only if eaten in bar area. Room space/decor and furnishing poorer than website photos depict. Noisy bathroom extractor fan, but too little natural light in bath-room, to see without putting on the light & therefore the noisy fan even in the daytime, & it seemed to run for ages. (Fan & therefore lights left on by chamber-staff. Perhaps to dry the floor; weather was very warm, but quite wet. However not an environmentally friendly solution & expensive for the business.) Room too hot, but unavoidable in a 'good summer'. I didn't ask, but a top-sheet in room would have been good. (I slept under the then dry bathtowel!) Had to have window widest open, road noise disturbing; but again not the hotels'fault'. Only 1 channel on room TV. Possibly because we had a handset which was not the same brand as the TV. Too busy in the 'great outdoors' to follow this up with Reception. Room hot-drinks tray not as well stocked after 1st night.
The fact that i had a phone call to tell me there was not a double room available. I was only twenty mins away. £5 plus for a single Dalwhinney, they are full of grand illusions as the hotel and staff are very poor.
Comfy bed, staff friendly on the whole Food ok,good facilities in hotel
Cleanliness in bathroom, lights fans not working loo brushes disgusting. Manager overpowering and making feeble excuses. Asked for jug of tap water on table, said bar pipes were not suitable couldn't walk to kitchen to get one . Bar prices very high £5 for glass of baileys . Hair dryer not in rooms
A bit like faulty towers shower did not work
1.Space; to park easily, walk around to stretch after a long drive ( or large dinner! ).Spacious bar/lounge/dining areas. Everywhere immaculate.Staff very attentive.
Shower hot-water delivered constant very hot water however one set it! Room 4.
Location and room size good.
Shower too small, couldn't get to controls without being in shower so blasted with freezing water before hot came through. Radiator on in our room inmiddle of summer, we had to ask twice for it to be turned off as we weren't able to do it. Food overpriced.
Great location, restaurant has some lovely food and the staff are very pleasant
the room didn't have a shower, just a bath, which is highly unusual for a hotel of any description

Friendly staff, we had my brothers funeral afternoon tea there as it was the cheeriest place closest to Wray, the afternoon tea was excellent, the room nice, as there was over 150 people the staff managed very well. I would recommend for functions. They even gave discounts to some people that decided to stay the night so they could have a drink,
Fantastic place good on site facilities

The Spa facilities were excellent and the location of the Hotel was good for reaching the Lake District and Yorkshire
