the place, the people
the bit of wood behind the bed which made sitting in bed very uncomfortable. the filter in the shower had not been cleaned for a considerable time. it was severely blocked the food at breakfast was only warm even though it was only just coming out of the kitchen
Communal areas and leisure facilities
Room 24, small and dated. Looked out on back of leisure facility and storage area. Bathroom from 70s, three nights stay, towels and bedding not changed, Good job we made own bed really.
We booked this hotel on a last minute desicion we wanted to get away to a nice cosy country hotel away from home that had a spa, win win as we got everything we wanted, food delicious very welcoming very cosy and 5 mins away frm kirby lonsdale little village beautiful cant fault at all, highly recommended
The food, staff and facilities were fantastic. I couldn't of had a better New Year!!
My room was quite cold as the radiator in the bathroom wasn't working, however the staff were really helpful when I reported it and made sure I had a large supply of clean dry towels as the radiator valve had broken and a repair wasn't available until after new year
Facilities and food excellent.
Shower in room slightly underpowered no wifi in the rooms.
The location was good and the restaurant very good
The cost seems quite high for what you get. The noise was appealing although not the hotels fault the walls seemed so thin and due to some other very bad guests the noise prevented us from getting a good nights sleep
Staff were very helpful
Wife was only available in the bar area
It was nice to have a swimming pool.
Very dated, cold room with draft through windows, noisy and very poor breakfast. Overcharged in the morning which took 20 mins to sort out.
Got a good deal on a room reduced from £120 to £78. The swimming pool was lovely, and was one of the big draws for me. The room was large, and the bed spacious. Staff friendly. Nice location. Kirby Lonsdale lovely for shops cafes and dining.
Unfortunately the pool was closing early for staff christmas drinks, and so I only managed 15mins in the pool. There was a party going on below our room. there was loud music until 1am, and then loud chatting and laughing until 3.20am. The Owner was unhelpful, saying 'get a drink from the bar' 'have fun, it's Christmas' then I asked for some refund, and he said 'you have already had a discount, what else do you want', and said he had made a lot of money that night. 'I can even make money out of people like you'. 'I won't give you a discount, but I can give you your bill, and you can leave if you want'. I was flabbergasted by his lack of customer service in a customer facing role, never mind as an owner. I said 'thankyou very much for a lovely stay', and finally got to sleep at 3.30am. the other staff were lovely, and the manager gave us another £32 off the room the next morning. The owner was really the only negative. I see he has had lots of negative comments about him in other reviews, in retrospect.
Cleanliness comfortable bed.
No saucers in bedroom No breakfast menu Catch on bathroom window broken Virtually no staff contact at all.
Just off the A65 near Kirkby Lonsdale. Comfortable bed and good breakfast
the location and setting was lovely, could maybe improve by replacing bedroom windows as you could hear everything outside.
breakfast was very greasy and the scrambled egg was very cold.
Good location, found staff to be friendly and accommodating
Poor heating system in bedroom, lack of hot water on first morning until 8.30am, cold breakfast but that was corrected the following morning.
Good location, just off the motorway and close to Kirkby Lonsdale.
This "hotel" has such a grand name for a run down unloved place, the rooms are very basic, the bathrooms are cold and clinical the price is good but I wouldn't stay at this place for anymore than one night, and definitely wouldn't eat there, it's such a shame as it could be a great place to stay with some TLC!
Close to m6"and in a lovely village.
Signpost would help when you are close to village.
Really enjoy the are and the facilitys attached
the food was lovely, beds very comfortable, the bar was very nice
The noise from the traffic passing by was a bit thunderous. But the real problem we had was that the hotel did not advertise that children under 16 were not allowed in the pool after 6.30pm. On our arrival at 6.00 we asked what time the pool closed and they said about 7.30pm so we rushed up and got changed as we booked this hotel particularly because our daughter loves swimming. We were with our 14 year old who is adult size and better swimmer than mum and dad only to we couldnt go in. We said we would be with her but no good. Apparently, the leisure and spa are a separate entitiy and not owned by the hotel. The rules are not made clear when booking the hotel which was a huge disapointment to us as this was the primary reason we booked to stay at this hotel.
buffet breakfast good choice of tea, biscuits and decaff drinks in the room. comfy bed very clean
removing 5 wasps (2 dead - 1 in the bed) from the room on arrival 4 poster post in the way of viewing the tv
Good location, convenient for the three peaks etc. Friendly staff and a good breakfast. Overall a pleasant place to stay.
The room was fairly small, and not that well soundproofed. (But perfectly reasonable for the price)
The food was lovely and tasty, swimming pool/spa facilities were relaxing & the bed very comfortable for someone with a neck/back problem.
The bar/dining area was chilly. It must have been for my husband to pass comment on it too.
Friendly helpful staff . Great leisure facilities, wonderful pool.
I liked everything!!!!
We have no complaints about anything and intend to visit again.
No adverse comments to make.
Location, comfort, quiet, character, size of room.
Service was a bit slow at times.
The rooms look tired and the bathroom looked grubby although clean in desperate need of a makeover even just redoing the grouting would make a difference
Meals and facilities were good
Lack of housekeeping at this present time led to the following issues - these had been fine on a previous visit: towels not being changed hospitality tray not being maintained
