This hotel is absolutely wonderful and the staff are ever so helpful. We arrived quite late in the evening but that was no issue at all. The room was wonderful and very big too which was a lovely surprise. We had a lovely en-suite with a bath and a shower!! Something you don't see often in hotels, which was lovely. The manager was absolutely wonderful, he was very helpful and couldn't do enough to help us, even made up two beds up for our little boys to sleep on. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to the island which will be in the new year. I honestly cannot rate this place enough. Everything was just wonderful and I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel to everyone
The welcoming, accomodating and friendly staff. The perfect location. The breakfast.
Not a lot really
Uncomfortable bed generally needed a good clean .toilet looked in need of a bit of bleach and clean Dogs in resturant area
This is a couple and family friendly place. They have enough space for family get togethers and local and tourists that it didn't feel too obtrusive. We went walking along the coast which was only 200 metres away. Fantastic day and good food.
Room was disgusting mould walls chipped carpet stained. We had a evening meal and ordered a starters and main course and our starters came with our main meals so we had to send it back and have it after our mains not very happy at all I wouldn't pay 75 pound again for the room felt very upset after my stay
Location superb, Food was "pub fayre" but very good, Service was good, Amazing view from bedroom Certainly go back again Price for room very reasonable
Decoration & carpets a little tired
Great location but a bit isolated. Food was brilliant and the staff were very helpful.
Owners have only been there for a little while and the carpets need updating.
Room was very small as was the bed. Not a comfy nights sleep.
Excellent location, excellent facilities, excellent food, welcoming staff, value for money. What more could you ask for. Go again tomorrow given the chance. One of the best places we have stayed at.
Nothing to dislike.
This pub is really nice and we have visited it to eat for a number of years. The food is good quality and reasonable
The hotel is badly in need of a refurb. Windows rotten and paint peeling off, carpets threadbare and bathroom old. The amount we paid £65 was reasonable however the room was £50 plus breakfast and the breakfast drfiantely wasn't worth £15. Very dissapointing. We were told the hotel has recently been taken over so hopefully they will refurbish and spend some money on the place
The host very happy and nothing was to much trouble dinner at the pub was lovely. The steak and mushroom pie home made and very good.Breakfast was very good to would stay again
Old carpets on stairs and bedrooms but the land lord said this all will be done in a few months as they have just taken over the pub I the last 3 months
Friendly staff, good quiet location, choice of beers and good food.
Temporary wifi, rooms suffered from noise from bar - but this was turned off at 11 pm
Location and views to the coast from patio.
Old and tatty carpets in main entrance, on stairs to accommodation and in the tiny bedrooms. Creaking bed and weak shower. Poor management overall - meant poor service from some staff; food poorly cooked and presented. Despite this a couple of staff were trying hard to please.
The pub itself is excellent with great choice of drinks and top notch grub in particular the steak and ale pie. Great location with lots of room and a big garden with a sunset view. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. Potential to be one of the best on the island.
The b&b area/rooms are in desperate need of a refurb and are an opposite to the well presented bar and garden. The WiFi only seems to be accessible in certain parts of the bar and was not reachable in our room (6). The shower didn't work on our arrival, but was sorted out quickly. The mattress in our room while comfortable enough for a short stay did seem overly soft and in need of replacing. Once the rooms are refurbished & get the WiFi extended then this will be amongst the best. As the new owners have only been there for 4 months this is probably on the agenda.
Outside space. Atmosphere. Great staff, Real Ale!
Size of the bed
Friendly new owners and staff, very helpful and attentive. Comfortable bed, had a great night sleep. Breakfast was one of the highlights, absolutely delicious.
Staff were really good nice and friendly, outside area was fantastic, will defo go back again.
No wifi as stated
First Class Service
The pub has recently been taken over by Cheryl and Andy and they are wonderful hosts, kind, accommodating and very helpful. The staff were lovely too, we shall return!
friendly staff could not fault anything
Staff friendly and helpful, bar and garden gorgeous - lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink. Stunning scenery and near cliff walk.
Rooms, decor in need of freshen up.
I literally couldn't find fault with this wonderful place! The bar staff, kitchen staff, cleaners and new owners are simply terrific. The pub/restaurant is gorgeous and homely, the food is out of this world, the rooms were lovely and comfortable with the cleaning staff doing a fantastic job each day. Even simple little touches like putting our children's soft toys on the pillows, pyjamas at the end of the bed etc. The bar staff are very bright, friendly and cater to your every need and you couldn't find a nicer couple than the new owners who have done a fantastic job already at bringing this place off the ground. The hotel overlooks stunning views of the coast, there is a great kids play area at the end of the extensive beer garden and the hotel is well situated for peace and quiet, buses, country walks, a village green shop and cafe and a short walk to Blackgang Chine for lots of family fun. Will certainly be coming back next year!
I'm usually very critical of hotels but I'm pleased to say it's very hard to find fault with this little gem!
Good size room with lovely sea view. Lovely pub and good food, especially breakfasts. Very close to Black gang chine theme park so able to walk. Close to coastal walks. Large pub garden with play area. Lovely setting in the countryside.
The beds could have been a bit more comfortable. Unfortunately the indoor play area was closed as waiting to be mended following storm damage. As we had some rain, this would have been good.
Friendly welcome, Clean Rooms beds made and towels changed every day. Great location for exploring the Island. Play area for the Children. Good food, plenty of choice for breakfast. with food served all day.
Wouldn't say room was really suitable for family of 4 bit of a squeeze. Our room had a single sofa bed and a camp bed (at the foot of the double bed) for the children not what i would class as a 'family room'. Couldn't connect to the temperamental Wi-fi
The food was excellent, aside from an apparent inability to cook a poached egg with a soft yolk.
The rooms were shabby and in dire need of some TLC. The bed was very uncomfortable with a massive dip in the middle
