Really classic English pub
One of the locals in the bar with very loud voice, not a problem unless every other wood begins with F, not acceptable when can heard in restaurant, or anywhere else really!!!!
Food ok staff vey pleasant lots of character in the bar area, good selection of ales and wine.staff tried hard to please.
Bedrooms ground floor damp and dirty in need of refurb had to change rooms lucky there was availability shower water pressure none could go on for ever somebody spend some money on this cute little place.
Cosy pub atmosphere Food acceptable. Evening staff helpful. Breakfast staff untrained.
Bathroom was not just tatty and old but also dirty. It was not an acceptable standard. Kettle in room stood on the floor/carpet. Wifi not working in room number 3. Public toilet dirty.
The food was good. The staff were fairly pleasant and the restaurant quite atmospheric.
The room we stayed in was, however, a different story. It was definitely the worst we have ever had anywhere. The bedroom was tiny and dark. The lamps were not working and we had to get down on the floor under the bed to find sockets to plug them in. The bathroom was no bigger than a broom cupboard. There was no room for even a toilet paper holder. There were no hand towels. The sink was a round bowl and the tap was so low in it that even doing your teeth was an effort. You could not even fill the kettle with it. One had to try and reach round a glass screen and use the bath tap. There was no upright shower over the bath. It consisted of a tube wrapped round the taps. The water came out of the bath tap in a trickle and by the time you had run about four inches you gave up. We stayed one night and left feeling that we had been robbed.
No water for shower or bath
Lovely old building. Friendly Staff. Lots of character with beams and sloping floor. Very reasonable price. With a bit of work this could be a super inn/hotel
Extremely noisy beer garden and residents's lounge under our room. Room very scruffy with lights not working etc. Bathroom poor, with cupboard door not closing and no shower curtain. Would have like to try the restaurant but the reviews were so bad it put us off.
Room nicely decorated Busy and traditional bar area
Poor service from bar staff-obviously not trained Main course was poor
Toilet Seat was dirty and unpleasant and rooms need decorating Over-charged by £235 on check-out after a two night stay ! Awaiting reply and refund
Lack of cleanliness Water in kettle Chipped and broken tiles Poor attitude of staff Poor after sales General untidiness of the room Everything to do with the experience
The room was not clean. There was mould on the bathroom ceiling around the taps & the top of the bath panel was black. I emailed the wild duck with my concerns but no reply.
A very special and has a history of the hotel, the singer in the bar has very nice voice.
Should provide shower head shelves, and now holding by a hand, so some inconvenience
The staff were excellent--friendly, polite and helpful.
The price, including the costs of drinks and food, the lack of a shower, the size of the room, the inefficient plumbing and antiquated bathroom, no bar fridge, air con, limited wi fi, no mobile phone reception.
Staff were very accommodating and helpful.
No shower in any of the rooms only a hand held attachment on the bath. Visitors information book very badly printed and difficult to read. Fixtures and fittings tired and need replacing. Much of the furniture in the garden was broken or covered in moss. Hard area never swept , ashtrays, full or dog ends shoved in nooks and crannies.
expensive for small, run down rooms
the restaurant and the food were superb. The staff are friendly and helpful. a wide selection if real ales.
the old part of the hotel was lovely, full of character.
Bedrooms were small, smelt of damp, cushions were stained, the room felt dirty. Bathroom needed modernising. not pleasant at all.
The room was very tired, bathroom not good, not enough power outlets, Bedside table lights were frayed Way over priced even at the discounted rate.
Location great comfortable bed
Rooms over priced 130 and breakfast not included no iron in the room
Beautiful garden in the front. Good wifi connection.Staff quite friendly. Easy access to the rooms 24/7.Nice painting in the room.Bed was comfortable with good pillows.
Room not ready for check in at 2pm.Room not as shown in the photos. Very small room.Looked very drab and tired...needed a lick of paint.Room smelt musty.Bathroom very shabby with black mould everywhere.Toilet did not flush properly. Horrible view of broken chairs out of the window. Really expensive and did not include breakfast.Expensive and mediocre food menu.No soundproofing...could hear other guests talking in their rooms.
Fantastic location for a base to travel to other areas. Well secluded and peaceful great place to chill out after a long day travelling. Breakfast was enjoyed
The restaurant was pricey avoided dinner
Lovely old building. Excellent food
good location, lovely building full of nature around it, relaxing atmosphere
stuff was not particularly kind, over priced both for accommodation and food
The place had a decent look to it and was in a reasonable location. Our room on first impression was good.
The plumbing in our bathroom was broken and was not fixed during our stay despite the management promising have it sorted. Poor level of cleanliness throughout the whole establishment. So bad had to demand money back on the bill. All round terrible.
Bar and dining areas
Bedrooms and bathrooms small and very dated. Bathrooms in particular were grubby. Electrical equipment connected by 4 gang extention leads and none of the plugs and sockets had been signed off as tested!!!!
