Beattiful building, very nicely furnished. Warm, cosy, comfortable - with a great bed.
Staff were all very friendly, helpful and welcoming, and we were upgraded (free of charge) to a beautiful room, with a huge comfortable four-poster bed and proper feather pillows, all of which was a real treat! There was also a very good choice of breakfasts. We were impressed by the Hotel's ambience, decor and not least by its laid-back and "quirky" philosophy. We will stay for longer on our next visit to take more advantage of all this place has to offer!
Staff Room Food
A pleasant hotel well situated for exploring Stamford. Friendly staff, helpful and professional. An interesting building which is full of character.
We booked dinner in the restaurant to celebrate a special occasion but having sat for 10 minutes we were told that we could not be fed as there was no gas! Received no compensation for the inconvenience of having to find a meal in the pouring rain elsewhere in the town. Rather spoilt the "special occasion".
Breakfast friendly staff
Boutique style of rooms, all individually and tastefully decorated to high standard. Crisp white sheets, nice duvet and quality sleep. Staff delightful. Food was amazing! Deff would return to this lovely place.
Only feedback is the shower ....needed at least a shower curtain as simply a bath in room , but shower head supplied. Why not look at a circular shower ring, as I appreciated glass screen can't work with sloping ceiling of the room. Would make life easier for guests!
Very good breakfast
Beautiful B and B in a lovely setting. Our room was actually the bridal suite and it was very nice, with a view out on to the gardens.
The staff are well trained, helpful, polite, do their jobs well and obviously enjoy working there.
It was good - I can think of nothing I would care to complain about. One thing that would have helped perhaps, a comfortable easy chair in our room [ and there was plenty of room for one] this would have been an additional comfort for an older guest who finds sitting on beds awkward.
We had a wonderful stay, and would highly reccommend! The 'chic' room was beautiful and had everything we needed, really nice touches with the 'tea-pigs' and proper coffee! The staff couldn't be more helpful and made us feel very welcome! We will be back to stay again!
badly cooked vegetables
All the little touches - great staff, tasty breakfast, luxury tea, coffee and biscuits in the room and a small bottle of elderflower liqueur! The location was spot on and a short walk to Burghley Park.
Check out (11am) and breakfast (10am) could be slightly later to allow a more relaxing stay on the weekend.
Best breakfast ever
it is so good to go to a hotel these days were the all the staff are not only helpful but very pleasant and are prepared to know who you are, by name. i could not praise them enough
we loved the room, up in the attic but we did find it a struggles to climb all the stairs, i appreciate it would be extremely difficult to have a lift, but i mention it because it could be a real problem to some
Very helpful Staff
I am Coeliac. At breakfast although I was assured by the staff that everything I ordered would be fine as they had gluten free bread etc and separate cutting arrears I had a very bad attack before I left the premises. My doctor advised I must have had gluten if only a breadcrumb. The staff were helpful in that we were able to keep the room until I recovered.
Plenty of choice for breakfast with attentive staff on hand Bedroom was comfortable and cosy
Room only had a bath with no shower TV didn't has access to all tv channels
Everything! Very friendly. Superb food and room
The staff were wonderful and friendly. The rooms were gorgeous and very comfortable.
I love everything about this hotel.
We ask for newspaper and did not received any.
The peace and quiet. The lovely comfortable beds and good pillows. The plentiful hot water. The well presented breakfasts, with lots of choice. The friendly and helpful staff
Not being able to open a window in the bedroom.
Breakfast was superb. Staff in the morning were excellent. Manager David dealt with complaints very well & hopefully will take everything on board.
Meal on the first night was not good at all. Attitude of staff that night was very bad. Rooms were ok but no drawers. Bathroom needed updating with problems getting out of shower. Facilities were good but Residents' lounge not available during the day & staff not flexible for seating in the afternoon. Glasses in bedrooms were not particularly clean. Pillows there were not enough to sit up to read in bed. Were not impressed for price. Christmas decorations on staircase were dangerous as one could not hold on to the bannister.
Staff great, food excellent, atmolsphere really perrfect. Stayed here before and had a good twin room but this time room 7 was way too small. Couldn't see the TV or operate the controls from one of the beds.Dropped soap in shower( no bath ) had to open shower door to pick it up ( not as creaky as I sound ). This room should be a single.
Room way too small
Wonderful modern interior decoration. Friendly staff. Great room. Very clean. Quality furnishings and towels. Excellent breakfast. Beats nearby competition by miles
Residents lounge could be improved by the addition of newspapers, magazines and possibly a fire in the Winter
