Our room, which was on the topmost floor was very poorly ventilated. When we requested a fan we were told that they were all in use!h poor ventilation should be given priority for help!

Beautiful hotel, great location, could walk into the wonderful town and also close to Rutland waters. V helpful staff.

The breakfast wasn't as good as we expected, food could have been fresher and would have been better if buffet food covered up!

The hotel itself was lovely and relaxing. Staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast, large selection, tastefully presented. Located in a wonderful location.

Only one, we had a room facing main street. As it was hot weather, no air con, we had to open window which unfortunately allowed traffic noise.

Delightful and welcoming staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Excellent location for exploring Stamford and the surrounding area. Great breakfast menu.

Hotel is located on a busy main road. Unless traffic does not bother you a room at the back should be requested.

The hotel itself was lovely, staff very helpful and attentive. Location was good.

We had some cake which was very solid. The room was on the front of the street and very noisy. The windows were poor, and one of the outer windows would not close properly at all, which did not help with the noise.

Just an overnight breakaway. We hadn't been to Stamford before and were attracted by the photos we had seen of the town. The hotel was ideally situated to explore although being at one end. Very pleasant stay with no complaints. Breakfast was excellent lots of choice...I requested baked beans with my full English....no problem in fact nothing was too much trouble. Loved the room (2)........found bed very comfy and large.

Carpet around tea/coffee area was quite badly stained....tea???

Very helpful staff. Beautiful decor and comfortable rooms.

No outside eating or drinking area due to a wedding taking place in the hotel at the same time. We ended up sitting on the grass in the hotel carpark as this was the only available outdoor space!!

Exceptional sitting out areas. Excellent dinner. Roomy bedrooms.

Generators or extractors coming to life at 6.30 in the morning and making further sleep difficult. Generally messy back view from room 11. Further away from Burghley Park than I expected.

There was a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were charming and helpful, the food was excellent.

I found there were a lot of stairs and of course, it was a very hot week-end, and no fan in the room.

We liked almost everything. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Very good food with an absolutely excellent breakfast. Room clean and well appointed. Able to walk out through the hotel garden to the grounds of Burghley House, although about a mile from the building. It is beautiful.

I upgraded to a chic room rather than a classic, which I was told would be noisy as it faced onto the Great North Road. Unfortunately, the chic room (The Guineas) was at the top of a tower, up a very narrow spiral staircase, and it became extremely hot as it is immediately under the roof. The staff were very helpful but this room would not have been suitable for the less able.

    Comfortable room and good breakfast

Very small room for a double/twin and by the main road when I had requested a quiet room. Weddings at weekend so can be crowded and noisy with late night drunks

excellent location, friendly efficient staff, plenty of private parking and a lovely old building well maintained with nice gardens. Could not really fault this hotel, breakfast served outside (weather permitting) and was good selection.

the fact we stayed only one night. If I was to grumble it was the bar staff who were not too interested or friendly which was not in keeping with the rest of the hotel staff. however there are plenty of bars /restaurants on the doorstep so not a problem for us.

The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. Our room was wonderful - spacious, huge bed, great bathroom/shower.

For a hotel of this price & calibre I would expect bathroom slippers and bath robes. A chair or stool would also have been helpful.

Location of Hotel. Quality of all meals during our stay. Friendliness of all staff.

Single beds were narrow. Would have preferred a proper shower with a curtain rather than a hand spray and bath. This meant we soaked the floor a lot!

Very friendly staff. Just far enough away from the centre of town to get away from the crowds but a 5 minute walk away. Lovely garden and outside sitting area. Super breakfast. Good Wi-Fi speeds. Excellent dining room. Cosy bar. Larger bedrooms excellent.

Very little, just recommend that the breakfast menus are re printed as they let down an otherwise great image.

Made to feel at home from the moment you walk through the door by the lovely staff and cosy feel of the place. Really delicious breakfast and very nice touches such as the 'little tipple' waiting on your bedside table! Lots of places to relax and soak up the lovely atmosphere.

Comfortable beds, engaging staff, almost Michelin quality food - superb.

If one looked closely it was not too clean. Dust on several things and parts of the bedroom carpet not thoroughly hoovered. Don't mind my crumbs but someone else's ...!
