From the moment we arrived we fell in love with this place, the staff ,locals ,other tourists were nothing but the friendliest folk we have met in a long Time. All areas of the inn was spotless and the bedroom and facilities within are second to none. The food was amazing and served to perfection, the venison burgers was too die for and the patron was more than obliging for us to take some fresh ones home from their kitchen. Very dog friendly place,we had a Yorkshire terrier(thought she was a Rottweiler) and a bichon frise with us so very small dogs but they were highly accommodating. We will visit again in the spring. Location was good... around 20-35 minutes walk to Coniston lake. Environment is very good, and staff is very friendly. Also, room was very comfortable.
Wifi was down during our stay. Although it said breakfast was included in room charges, only continental breakfast was actually included. We had English breakfast, and only when we were checking out, we were told that we have to pay for our breakfast as well.
The room was lovely and clean, the food they served was excellent, and plenty of it home cooked and fresh made us feel like we were one of there locals very friendly, staff felt like our friends, and new years eve was brilliant, would recommend the wilsons.
Nothing, excellent place to stay
Staff very fantastic, very attentive without being in your face, guests, locals & staff made it very special, it was like being at a house party. Buffet on NYE was superb as was the breakfast next day, cannot find anything negative to say !!
On arrival we were met at the bar and taken to are room by a very helpful gentleman later we enjoyed our evening meal we stayed three nights . On the third night we joined in singing carols and then received a free supper . Their is nothing to dislike at the Wilson s .
Nothing everything was great
Comfortable room, good food, great staff, lovely atmosphere
TV reception not great, but it was quite wild outside
Nice staff & clean room
At only £40 a night this place is excellent value. Lovely double room, great beer, good food and friendly staff. And they have the biggest xmas tree in the lake district!
Almost impossible to be critical. The freeview tv signal was very weak but that's all I can think of.
Pleasant location out of season. Room has harmonious and simple colours. Bathroom has funky faucet !!
Lights in restaurant: painful fluorescent from kitchen. Kitchen ties too hard, menu is in front of cooks. Room has no space for baggage for two !!
Sound of fish tank by room 4
The Wilson Arms was an extremely friendly place to stay, the staff were always courteous and attentive and could not have done more for us. The food was excellent, we enjoyed the local beers and atmosphere in the bar. The local walks around the area of Coniston are very enjoyable.
The food was wonderful without stretching your wallet. Staff are friendly and so helpful.
Nothing it was perfect
The very friendly, very relaxed staff.
Slightly too much restaurant, and not enough pub for sitting in the evening.
Nice open fire in the bar. Good choice of food and the overall decor was nice and welcoming. Sharon was super.
There is nothing really. We loved it
We enjoyed our stay at The Wilsons Arms very much. We found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We also enjoyed the food and ate in both nights. We are both chefs so always look for quality and value for money. This we found at the Wilson Arms. We hope to return soon.
Plenty of space at both the front and back of the Inn. Picnic tables in the field at the back. Also tables in the patio to the rear of the bar. Completely surrounded by typical Cumbrian countryside. Wonderful flower basket display on the front of Wilsons Arms.
Can't think of anything!
The rooms were very clean and the food was excellent. The staff were very helpful, as we needed an early breakfast on two mornings. Good range of beers.
Unfortunately, we stayed at a busy weekend with Coniston lake swim and also many other visitors enjoying the late summer weather. This did mean that the staff were stretched, but they were very polite and helpful.
Room quality and food
Few flies around but pub is out in country.
The bedroom was tastefully furnished as was the bathroom. And the breakfast choice was excellent.
The twin room was very small.only enough room for one person to walk around at a time Tiny wardrobe, tucked behind a chair.my elderly mother found the tiny bathroom difficult to use.
The relaxed atmosphere, that you can bring your dog with you and they can stay in your room and are allowed downstairs in the pub. Lovely place
The bed! It was so hard (my bed at home is very soft), I struggled to sleep the first night & woke up with back pain the whole stay
Excellent room large enough for stay
Would not mark down on anything
Great place as our base for walking. Rooms very contemporary and clean. Good night's sleep had. Homemade pizza for supper was very tasty as was huge full English breakfast. Staff helpful and friendly despite being very busy due to it being a bank holiday weekend. Will be back
Location, staff were generally helpful
Grubby tables in bar, tables left with plates and glasses on
Lovely room, excellent food, dog-friendly
Just managed to get a table for a meal in the bar on Saturday, no chance of an evening meal Sunday, far too full. Had to drive elsewhere. Would have liked to be warned in advance so we could book table before coming. Village event made it worse.
Food and location us bar atmosphere
Lack of space or facilities to hang clothes up
