Friendly atmosphere, pleasant rooms, pleasant staff, good food.

I like spa facilities but booked it knowing there wasn't any so really, nothing I didn't like.

Friendly staff and cleanliness of the room. We were able to book in at lunchtime, as attending a wedding nearby, wonderful breakfast.

Access to the bedrooms after hours was quite difficult.

The shower was dirty and the water didn't drain properly while showering which meant I was stood I'm dirty water only for it to overflow eventually. Pillow cases where dirty and room was not hoovered properly. There was dust and hair pins everywhere probably from a along ago as they were rusty.. Eeww

We booked six rooms for my sons wedding nearby we found the staff extremely helpful the rooms were very clean nothing was too much trouble the food was excellent we would recommend this hotel and we would stay there again definately The room had alot of extras, tea coffee and nice little treats and when staff were aware of children staying the next evening there were alot of sweets left in the room for them not alot of hotels have three beds in a room but this ensured a family could all stay together.

The location was near to Stanley House where we attended a wedding. The staff and breakfast were excellent.

Very friendly owner. This is an excellent hotel for what you pay for it. Our room was very clean and a nice new bathroom with power shower. Nice little touches like chewits sweets and mini cheddars in the room! Never had that before!! A great breakfast in the morning, so much I couldnt eat it all!! All in all excellent value for money!

it was easy to book and upon arrival the staff were very helpful and breakfast was extremely good. The rooms were very clean and the bed comfortable with a good hot shower.

lovely setting and close to amenities and motorway links. Very friendly and helpful staff. The bar meals were excellent and reasonably priced. The room was very nicely presented and excellent value for money. We wouldn't hesitate to book here again

the room was too small with no natural light apart from a sky light, very humid in the room dirty marks on the pillow not a great smell throughout the hotel had far better value for money in hotels everywhere.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The stairs area leading to the rooms was very smelly. My room had a large piece of skirting missing and a big gap (about 2" wide)along part of the wall. I found a coin and hair grips on the floor so room had obviously not been vacuumed since previous occupant. Top of toilet was clean but base was not. Skirtings very grubby. Overall the room could have done with a good spring clean. They were definitely not 'luxury' rooms as was advertised outside the hotel. On a positive note the bed was clean and comfy, the towels were all very clean and fresh and the tea making facilities and complimentary snacks were a nice touch. The restaurant was also extremely good. A great range of really tasty, well presented food. I would definitely recommend the restaurant and the staff were excellent.

I liked nothing. Dirty, noisy, bad smelling, I couldn't find my way out next morning to the "restaurant" for my breakfast. The worse place I 've ever lived.

our room smelt of damp, needed airing, had an old fridge in it that obv had been stored from the pub, tv would not work - think remote was broken, decor was tired.

Stopped here overnight. We found the staff very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable with all amenities including the wifi easy available. We would stay again without any hesitation and would recomend the Windmill Hotel.

Staff were friendly and helpful and shower worked fine. Breakfast was good.

1) Kitchen was understaffed on night time as one person didn't show up for work so we had to wait at least half an hour for meals (my sympathies, by the way, go to people who were on duty who did a great job despite this). 2) room hadn't been cleaned properly - hairs on floor and on shower cubicle. Breakfast area hadn't been cleaned properly either as dirty glasses from night before left on shelf 3) faint, but unpleasant smell coming from en suite 4) Noisy - traffic from busy road outside (my room was at front) was clearly audible, even with double glazing and extra screen, plus kept awake by group of men from somewhere else in hotel until early hours 5) Would have prefered to have found somewhere in Central Blackburn (was on public transport) but couldn't find anywhere else 6) Notice about negative reviews on Internet - suspicious about this -if everything was fine there would be no need for this notice in the first place! 7) overpriced.

We found the hotel and bar staff very welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable and the snack tray was a great touch. Our breakfast was delicious and good value for money.
