Really lovely design. The rooms are great. Plenty of TV channels, comfort (great beds!) and stuff.
The food in the pub can be improved upon. It is not bad, but the pub and restaurant are really lovely and the food is average.
The Windmill is very comfortable, welcoming & makes you feel at home with its great taste, personal touches.
Nothing to dislike
Very beautifully designed rooms Very very good matrasses excellent services Superb breakfast
Very good breakfast, comfortable bed, lovely decor in bedroom. Fresh milk in fridge.
The rooms had been decorated to a high standard and were clean.
We had a dreadful experience from the moment we checked in until we left. We were given a room for two people (when I had booked for three) and when I asked to be moved, the receptionist was very nonchalant. He said he would "have to move someone because of you" (the insinuation being that I was causing him effort and aggravation). He moved us and said he would organise linen for the bed. When we returned from dinner the bed was still unmade and I had to go back to reception to collect linen from the receptionist. We asked for a duvet and had to then trail behind the receptionist looking in cupboards for one. No manager was available, nor was there was anyone available to offer rudimentary housekeeping. The receptionist kept saying he was only covering and didn't know anything about the place by way of explanation (irrelevant to me). I would understand/accept this for a pub, but not for a 'hotel'. When we checked out the rate in the bill was not what we had had in our confirmation, though the manager did agree a reduction. I would not go back here again.
Rooms were very comfortable and very clean , good breakfast , good parking .
The rooms were well presented the bathroom was lovely. Despite being a pub we were not disturbed at all even though the pub was busy. The break fast was good plenty of choice and the hot food cooked fresh. The location was great for us as our son lives in Clapham. Will definitely return
Nothing all was good. Price of wine was expensive but suppose its London prices.
The staff were friendly and offered alternatives eg. storing valuables in the hotel safe when the in room safe did not work.
The in room safe did not work and was not fixed during my stay. The WiFi connection was intemittent and poor when connected.
Well appointed rooms, very good bathroom with all facilities, large king size bed - very comfortable with excellent pillows, tea and coffee making facilities and excellent full breakfast
There was nothing that I didn't like Everything was excellent
Staff, cleanliness, food, comfort, service all so very good.
Room clean with ecxellent facilities, but secondary glazed window wouldn't stay shut, loo seat broken as was flush handle tho' it did flush properly and door didn't shut properly. All petty but not right, breakfast was lovely and staff more than helpful.
The genuine English experience. It exceeds our expectations
The staff were very friendly and our evening meal was delicious.
We had a room to the front of the Hotel and it was a little noisy, but it is what you would expect if people are eating and drinking outside.
What a big surprise ! The windmill on the common was more than I expected - better than a lot of 5star hotels I've stayed at in London , great room decor ,comfort and facilities Loved the quirky dining room for breakfast which was included! And everything I ordered was cooked and presented really well.
Well not much , but my room had a very poor view and could hear some noises .
We travelled to London with a group of family to scatter my nephews ashes. There was 16 of us in total and all of us passed comment on how polite and efficient the staff at the wwndwill. We would definetley stay again
Bed was two singles pushed together and room was very dark with one small window
Location was great, Northern line (Clapham South) only 4 min east walk away. Room Was a good size and very comfortable, especially the nespresso machine. Bathroom modern, one small item missing, bath mat, but it did not detract from the stay. Breakfast was amazing, apart from the usual cold table, there was a good selection of hot breakfast.
The lighting in the dining room in the evening. The menu card was a green colour with black writing and members of my party all had a problem reading it. We were told that the lighting was low to give a ambiance!! Good job I had my "flashlight app" to read the map. Food was good, however wanted the sole dish, as did another member of my party and told it was not available. This was a Wednesday.
The rooms are very comfortable and tasteful as well as homely. Most of the staff are lovely (1 or 2 surly waiter(esses) or would have got an excellent for that too). It's very quiet and in a lovely location and very well served for bus tube and mainline. We have stayed a number of times visiting family nearby and will return.
The food sounds better than it is. Breakfast is good (except for rubber scrambled egg) as were the burgers and the room is attractive. Also good restaurants an easy stroll away in Abbeville village. If on the ground floor you occasionally hear syphoning noises early morning but nothing major. The curtains could do with being better black out lined as the ground floor outside lights really troubled me they were on some nights not others and no-one seemed to know how to control the one right above our bedroom door!
The room and bathroom - lovely décor. The bar and breakfast area, also excellent
Only a small thing, the wifi didn't work so well but not a major problem to us
The comfort of the bedrooms.
Unable to get a signal on my mobile in the hotel.
Very clean, modern, quite rooms right on the common . Will be booking again same time next year.
Amazing hotel. Old outside and shiny and new inside. It is what you imagine, when you think about something english. Breakfast also is brilliant - great menu of hot dishes and wealthy buffet. Hotel located in the park, there is very quite, even with open window.
pretty far from center
The Windmill is a perfect pub/hotel for visits into London with the added advantage of the lovely Clapham Common right next door . The common is great for brisk early morning walks before a scrumptious breakfast !
The room was very nice and we had everything we needed. We had a lovely night's sleep on a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good and the staff serving were friendly.
We didn't appreciate a call at 11:10 telling us to vacate the room. We do appreciate that check out was 11am and obviously we were doing our best to adhere to this rule but a little common sense on the part of the reception staff wouldn't have been too much to ask.
The staff were very welcoming and when there was a slight problem with our room there was no hesitation in transferring us to another room. The room was delightful and very tastefully refurbished. A lovely breakfast in the morning which was included in the price. Excellent value for money.
There was nothing negative about the hotel.
Location, general feel, staff attitude/friendliness, weather, breakfast, decor
Bar prices (£6.90 for the small glass of sauvignon blanc*!?); front desk didn't have toothpaste to sell, no toothpaste (or handsoap) in the bath room; front desk didn't know where nearest shop was (one minute away in one direction rather than ten minutes away in the other!) the general idiocy of hiring someone from Biffa to blow leaves around where we were having coffee in the morning. (why blow? where?!) £130 was too expensive for the room, which was small and, yes, handy for Clapham but hardly central. They are heavily booked though, so I am probably in a minority.
