The location was very good. Staff very friendly.
Good location. Friendly staff.
Room too small, bathroom facilities poor. Had to phone hotel to get into property for breakfast as all locked up at 9.15am.
Not the impression I gained from the website photos. It was a pub that did accommodation. Parking limited. Décor and furniture pretty tatty - looked dirty. Accommodation was a separate entrance off the road. First hall light didn't work so groping around in the dark to get to next one. Room had the net curtains lying on the floor. No information book so had to go back into the pub and ask about WiFi. Food ok but very basic - in keeping with the pub. Breakfast didn't start until 8am and customers waiting around on pavement as the staff were late - didn't open up until 8.10. In spite of promising to provide an invoice didn't do so and had to dash as supposed to be in office at 8.
I am familiar with "The Trooper" as a pub and the accommodation was as expected. A friendly welcome and early book-in of our luggage and provision of a room key even though the room was not due to be ready for some time was most helpful.
Breakfast was a disappointment in that it took ages to get served even the basic tea/coffee option. There were few breakfasters present but service was really slow - something to do with the waitress also being the previous night's late night barmaid perhaps?
The people were great
There was quite a bit of wait for breakfast
poor service . checked in late . wasn't any offer of breakfast. just given key for room . no direction to room . I believe under new management. They need to get rid of barman with arrogant attitude .
The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The pub food (and drink..) delicious..
The room was well furnished, bathroom clean and all was obviously just renovated. Staff booked us in, did not explain that although it was booked as B&B one had to order breakfast separately, we left without breakfast.
Advertisement stated secure car parking. We had to park on the road - metered! No respite for Sunday either. Notice in bedroom about breakfast times on Sunday, but front door locked and no access advised. Fortunately a staff member came out a side door and took our keys.
It was a well appointed room. All you could ask was supplied. Staff very happy and helpful. Fantastic breakfast. Very close to Windsor center.
Needs more parking.
Everything was good as indicated in the q/a above. We have stayed at The Trooper on two previous occasions and would always go back.
Checked with the staff on Sat. morning what times meals would be served in the evening. We were told 6pm until 9pm. We got back at 8.30, went to the bar to say could we order food, but was told "no we've closed the kitchen early" I did advise the member of staff that we had checked food times after we ate breakfast. The response was "well I wasn't working this morning and I decided to close early".
The Location is perfect! Friendly staff. Lovely and cosy room, comfy bed!
a bit dusty...
Very welcoming and service excellent. Full English breakfast excellent
Don't like a double bed made of two singles!
The position is good; an easy, interesting walk into the heart of Windsor. The bed was comfortable and the linen clean. The heating was really good so after a cold day out it was warm, both in the room and bathroom.
The accommodation was dark and tired. All a bit mismatched and rundown. The floor in the bathroom was torn and flaking under foot and the shower had mildew.
Pleasant staff, good breakfast and parking available
Outside light not working, difficuilt to see key hole. Some maintenence issues, not serious.
Nice clean room and shower.
Lots of winding stairs, not good if you have large, heavy case.
The wash-up, room check-in was quick and peaceful to relax for one night fresh-up accommodation. Wonderful mirror on the wall and close proximity to bath arena.
Smell of vomit upon entering and a few hours past, in the family room including the hot water only in shower and was quite spaceless. Ghostly sounds in bathroom, as well as wall for the tissue roll plus the scrub brush were unsanitarily spotted. The ceiling needs looking after and general outdoor/ indoor carpet communal area.
Great location and lovely pub.
Good have done with a good vac in the main bedroom and the heaters need upgrading.
The very fact that they have a car park in such a central location is good. As a bonus, it seemed to be very secure.
The car park is small, so guests are asked to leave their car-keys at the bar in case it is necessary to move cars around.
Excellent location for Windsor Castle Staff very friendly really enjoyed our visit will comea gain next year
Location in Windsor is all right.
The bathroom was really dirty and old. The shower and wall around/above it was full of mold, making it very unpleasant to take a shower. The toilet flush was not working properly. the bathroom floor was made of some cheap plastic tiling which was falling appart. Window to yard did not close properly and room was very noisy due to close proximity to the smoking section of the pub.
-great location; -warm room
-the room was not very clean; bathroom was quite dusty -the bed was horrible, you could not turn without making a noise, which in turn will wake you up -bad mattress, we both had a bad back by morning; - you could hear the neighbours through the floors, we had a bathroom above us and we heard them every time they had a shower or went to the toilet; -leak on the room ceiling -dirty shower; -holes in the bathroom wall; -stained carpet which was really bad considering we had a crawling toddler in tow.
The accommodation was very clean and probably recently refurbished. We could have whatever we wanted for breakfast and had a "full English" which was excellent value. The barmaid/receptionist/waitress (the same person!) was very friendly and helpful. The conservatory/dining room was very nice.
Not so keen on the bar area which was quite "rustic" and a bit shabby. Our friends' room was much smaller than ours and their TV didn't work.
Well equipped room
Noise at night, after midnight and grout in bathroom needs replacing also damp patch on ceiling needs attention
The staff were very very friendly & helpful! The pub dinner we had was absolutely delicious ! The pub was cosy & charming. Our accommodation was comfortable & clean The car was secure in their car park
There was a bit of mould in the shower Could hear footsteps from upstairs but really wasn't a concern Otherwise I couldn't fault the accommodation for the money Value for money
Toilet had no pressure to flush
