On checking in, the owner never welcomed us at all, gave us our bill, + advised us that we could pay him at any time during our stay.
We have never before, been given our bill on arrival!
On booking our room, we booked an evening meal for the first night of our stay, + were advised that it would be served at 6.15pm. We arrived at 5.30pm (having just taken my medication which has to be taken prior to meals), + on checking in, the owner informed us that we could not have our evening meals, as 'we have no food to give you, because Tesco haven't delivered it'. We thought he was joking, + questioned this, to which he said he was not joking, + repeated his previous statement.
He never apologised for not fulfilling our booking (as arranged with his wife). As we could smell cooking, when we had left our luggage in our room, we went down the steps to the dining room, to find many other guests eating an evening meal! Obviously, we were very annoyed about this, as we felt no reasonable explanation was given, + we then had to go out to find a meal, after a long drive, when the available evening meal was one of our main reasons for booking the hotel.
Convenient location, excellent breakfast + service. Friendly staff.
