Stunning lake side location. Fantastic historic building with modern, stylish, rather minimal rooms. Great bathroom. Friendly staff who seemed genuinely happy to be working there. Very good food, & early breakfast 'hamper' delivered to room.
Attention to detail was really nice. Staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming, food was superb and catered for vegetarians. Really was an enjoyable stay.
Having to leave!
Excellent Christmas dinner and breakfast!
Room cold, bed uncomfortable, wetroom small cramped and very wet and toilet seat loose!
Friendly Staff Relaxed Warm Comfortable
Radiator not working in bathroom An armchair, not a beanbag to sit on.
Mynt Style bedroom was romantic had a GORGEOUS roll top bath! Beautiful and stunning lake with a lakeside terrace Fairylights inside the pub and outside by the lake guiding you up the stairs In the heart of the countryside Breakfast was lovely especially sat in front of the fireplace! Close to Ashdown Forest, Sheffield Park, Bluebell Railway Line and Brighton beach!
Drinks were expensive The lamps needed light bulbs
Bar and restaurant are quant. Staff exceptional polite and helpful.
Chips and crab cakes over cooked Mynt room only has one small window behind the bath leading onto the entrance doorway(lacking natural daylight).
+ Friendly staff + Nice, relaxed atmosphere. The fireplace in the pub is really cool. + Food at the pub very good + Breakfast was excellent: very tasty and loads to choose from! + Quality linen & nice big fluffy towels + Stylish, spacious room + For the price we paid (£49 a night) we thought it was excellent value, but had it been at the regular rate of £89, I probably would've been a little disappointed.
Although overall the room was very nice, there did seem to be a lack of attention for detail & some bits that are in need of maintenance. - I love the idea of a wet room, but I must say a shower curtain would've been useful as the whole bathroom was wet after taking a shower. - In the bathroom, there was nowhere you could hang a towel. - The king size bed was actually two single beds pushed together, so there was a slight gap in the middle. Not a huge problem for us but could be sorted out easily e.g. with a mattress topper. - The room could have been cleaner: e.g. the carpet could have done with a vacuum, the drinking glasses weren't exactly clean.
What a qwerky cosy hotel with a long history. Great location for Lingfield Park races. Hope to return in the summer to enjoy the outside space by the lake. Would definitely recommend.
We found no negatives.
Quirky venue Real ale options Good value pub grub
Bathrooms could be a bit cleaner Breakfast not available until 8 am
Quaint building in the Water Mill. Rooms lovely. Breakfast tasty.
Spring matress. Mine needed to be turned as very worn where everybody has sat on the edge, particularly as there wasn't a chair in the room. Stairs from restaurant down to the rooms trecherous. I slipped down them twice and my daughter did too!! BEWARE!
noise from above room .
Food very good. Staff helpful.
They were understaffed. We had to wait an hour to be served at breakfast.
Nice, quiet location. Lake outside is pretty. Bar area is nice. Barstaff friendly.
"Tapas" seems an excuse to put prices up. £5 for a meat pie. I have never heard of a meat pie being labelled "Tapas"! Large plasma TV was advertised for our room, but only a cheap and tiny TV was on the wall. Breakfast was requested, as we were leaving early, but they forgot! Room was cold at night, although they provided portable heater after I complained.
Radiator not working in allocated room - staff very apologetic and change to another.
Location, the food
Rooms very small. Cold, no heating other than a loud fan. Bathroom no shelves hooks or anywhere to put toiletries. Didn't do the rooms on 2 day. No communication about breakfast or how to have the rooms done
Imaginative menu - good food
Bedroom a little Spartan - no wardrobe. OK for a brief stay.
The breakfast was the best eggs benedict I've ever had!! Room was very cosy, warm and luxurious!
They were very sweet to decorate room as they did for my partners birthday Friendly staff as well
Although the gentleman was kind enough to bring us a food platter down to our room it's a shame they don't offer room service in general! Also I told two differing members of staff that we would like a breakfast hamper as we were leaving extremely early in the morning and they still forgot! As we had a 3 hour journey ahead of us we didn't appreciate that!
I would recomend this lovely spot to anyone, we just went for the night as didn't want to be to far from London was the perfect spot. Lovely location on the lake, great food and comfortable rooms! Great atmosphere! Would go back in a heart beat!
Room was a bit cold, and curtains thin so the light comes in other than that no complaints at all!
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food excellent. Very good value for money.
Breakfast was very impressive
Room was very standard with no storage and unpleasant outlook onto back of restaurant which was smelly at times. Didn't appreciate the sops being changed daily; very wasteful!
The wiremill is probably the best pub, best surroundings, best food, best staff, best value for money!
Asked for a quiet room and its was under the bar. The whole place smelt off cigarette smoke although in the room guide said it was strictly forbidden and the manager just ignored it as he showed us our room. One tea bag in the room and no milk. Mould and brown water staining to the ceiling just ignored from a previous leak . No wardrobe or draws or bath Mat. The bed wasn't a double just two singles pushed together. We phoned to say we where arriving late and the member of staff didn't pass on the message so we may have been locked out. The gutters needs maintenance and it sounded like a waterfall all night . When we mentioned it in the morning and no apology was said. This place reminds me of a rundown B&B at the seaside and it's trying to be something it's not. We booked originally because of the food and thought the hotel would be a good standard ! The room had a picture of something that resembled a blackboard with a green frame , just a black picture ??? It was very tempting to draw on it
Genuine, amazing place. Old classic pub and inn, excellent music, superb cuisine and very friendly and helpful staff.
The character of the place as a whole was great especially the beer(Directors). It was a quite night but the pub was still very welcoming.
