Score from 310 reviews Good
good English breakfast, friendly staff
breakfast area was not heated very well
Very good food, both at dinner and at breakfast. Comfortable room and excellent shower. Staff friendly and helpful.
For an area of the country with excellent beers and ciders, the selection of beers/ales at the bar is poor
Overall hotel and architecture
Room was too hot and only had a small window that could only be opened fully or not at all. Breakfast was appalling, they could not coordinate food on the buffet and have everything ready at the same time
Excellent breakfast room, food and service. Couldn't be faulted. Nice hotel would go again but would ask for a different room. (See comments).
Room was very warm and there's no air conditioning so the only option was to open the window. Unfortunately our room was overlooking the recycling bins and kitchen air conditioning units which ran all night and were noisy.
The grounds and room were very good indeed. The hotel has loads of character, and is warm and inviting. The staff were also very courteous and friendly.
My only problem was during the evening meal. Even though I explained to the waiter that I have an allergy to vinegar, my evening meal came with a side salad that had some dressing on it. (I think the chef had just washed off the vinaigrette, rather than making me a fresh salad.) I therefore wasn't able to eat it. It could have been a very nasty end to an otherwise lovely stay. It won't stop me from booking there again though.
We were made very welcome - the reception staff were polite and friendly. Our room was in the hotel annexe and was clean and modern. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding was of a high quality. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The bed was very large and comfortable.
The room was too hot
the attention to detail on such a special time of the year , from our arrival drinks to the lovely bowls of sweets dotted around the hotel .
one thing ...............reception not coming back to me ..............twice !!
The restaurant staff were excellent, particularly the very helpful manager who was very accommodating with our three month old baby who joined us for dinner. Good wine list, excellent food and ambiance. Liked the starched white table cloths and white gloves worn by waiting staff - a nice change from the usual modern bistro style found in many hotels.
Shame the new leisure club opened the day we left. Nowhere to run locally so difficult to exercise. The bed was a little too soft and the room a bit hot
My wife and I found the Wood Norton quite by accident and I was very glad we did. The hotel is delightful - comfortable, modern yet steeped in fascinating history. The staff are friendly and professional and the ambience is superb.
The location, the rooms, the restaurant menu and food quality. Lovely dining room.
The painfully slow service in the bar and restaurant. First choice starter not available, then second choice starter not available.
Standard bedroom in the mews. Room large with a large extremely comfortable bed. Furnishings of a high standard, very tasteful. Bathroom again large with huge shower over bath. Facilities again excellent. Room quite. I was most impressed
My only comment would be that I could not find any information in the room about hotel facilities. No guidance on restaurant times etc. unsure if room service was available
Faultless restaurant and extremely well produced dishes.
Bed was tired in my particular room and the mattress offered limited support.
Staff very professional.
The bar menu could be a bit more expansive but this is only a very minor point.
The building and the grounds are beautiful. Extremely comfortable bed in a nicely furnished room. Could not fault any of the facilities that I used.
Obviously location, but also food...top quality! Also whilst checking out...what a gorgeous receptionist! x
Nothing at all....
Being placed a long way away from the main, historic house
Setting and nicely refurbished buildings. Good breakfast.Clean and comfortable room -in annex which was away from main building and quiet.
Breakfast /dining is a bit gloomy with wood panelling and low light. Absence of local ales on draft in bar.
Blisteringly fast WiFi that was free. Spacious room, with huge bed and decent sized bathroom. Wished I had chance to see the grounds.
Car park away from the rooms.
Nice room in a quiet location
The restaurant was a bit over rated
Shower not hot enough but adequate.Window difficult to open.
All hotel staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient leading to a very enjoyable stay. We had gone to meet relatives and it was an ideal venue
Very little - only a swimming pool would have added to the experience.
Lovely hotel with beautiful gardens. Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable, spacious bedroom with chairs and sofa. Large bathroom with walk-in shower and designer toiletries.
Bedroom was on corner of building with restricted views. Not a vast choice of bar meals and staff were either not very experienced or too rushed. Bar meals arrived luke warm. Felt hotel was lacking in information and some details on surrounding area, places to visit, etc. would have been helpful!
Breakfast was one of the best that I have ever had in any hotel in the UK. Staff were obliging and friendly. Food was generally good and the room was large with a wonderful view.
When we booked we got the impression that we were staying in the main house. However, on arrival we found we had to pay an upgrade to do so (which we were happy to do), to avoid being allocated a room in an annexe.
delightful property in an idyllic setting. caring and friendly staff and excellent food both at dinner and breakfast.
