The room was quiet and comfortable and the few staff we did see were friendly. The breakfast was delicious and the waitress was very efficient and polite, she was excellent, the menu was exceptional for a breakfast, well done chef. When we were having a drink in the bar the waitress (barstaff) was having a dispute with a waiter about the choice of music and she was not discreet, it was a little embarrassing. The room was not what we expected, it was just a standard room overpriced and outdated. The rail that held the towels is placed in an awkward position and we both caught our heads on it.

It was comfortable and very welcoming. I had a difficult meeting to do and the ambiance was just right.Very interesting architecture and some one should write a history of the building. Must be about 16th Century if not just a bit later. Very central and would stay again. There was nothing I didn't like.

Olde Worlde atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff. Superb food and range of beers. Very clean all round. Bedroom well appointed and comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Litter in outdoor smoking area gives a poor first impression on arrival

Nice pub, nice rooms, nice staff Late night music on bank holiday Sunday so be careful when u book if they have a late night licence over the time ure staying (staff know it's an issue but obviously u need to check and ask for a room on top floor otherwise u might be in for a party in your room). It's important to note the staff were good about it and knocked some money off. I would still recommend.

Good location with secure parking and easy access to local facilities. A historic building with a cosy, country feel. A modern twist to the locally sourced menu. Staircases are a strange arrangement and a double handrail would have been preferable for my partially disabled colleague - but that goes with the historic building territory !!

When we first arrived the pub was very busy with people eating and drinking. A warm welcome from one of the men after we had been out round the square. The room was lovely and clean and modern. We had booked to go to a family party and calling off back at the pub for another drink before bedtime to find the pub still busy was a pleasant surprise. We were promised a big hearty breakfast and this is what we got. Because of our health problems had requested a room not too far up stairs we were given a room over one of the main bars which made it very noisy when we got back but luckily it quitened down after about an hour when the pub empties.

1 Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. 2 Location close to buses, trains, shopping, information, castle, church etc. 3 Superb English breakfast choices and quality. 1 TV intermittent on all channels 2 Room 1 was well placed but needs provision of secondary glazing inside window to provide sound insulation as it is above the covered smoking and drinking area which is very loud between 10.00 and 12.30 pm.

Staff were fab, so friendly, welcoming, couldnt do enough for you. A decent sized room, lots of storage, tv and drinks facilities. Breakfast was lovely, good buffet and choice of cooked items. Good to have parking in the middle of a town. When we turned the tap on to fill the bath if you turned it on to a faster flow of water the shower suddenly sprang into life and I got very wet trying to sort it out! It would have been good to have a notice that warned about that.
