The best place I have ever stopped at. Staff were the most helpful and friendly I have come across. They actually wanted to serve you Food out of this world. Place great hotel spotless could do enough for you

The staff were charming and couldn't do enough for guests. The suite and the hotel were luxurious and very comfortable. The hotel has stunning gardens and is in a perfect location. A SUPERB HOTEL that I would recommend highly.

Loved the log fire in foyer - residents different lounges - pool - gardens - ambiance - nice smell - no hassle!

Food in the bistro - breakfast in hotel. As a keen observer of good food this area requires attention Gents changing room needs a rethink!

Location was amazing The staff were very helpful and polite at all times and really made our stay feel special. Our room was fantastic and was done to a very high standard.

Our bedroom was only adequate but was clean. The location of our room was too close to the hotel lift which was noisey in the evening and morning times. I did mention this fact to the hotel staff on departure.

Room description/price when we booked seemed to differ from our bill(On line we saw £109 hotel said £119 so rather than dispute at reception desk we paid) Bathroom faucet was not a mix so hot & cold taps were inconvenient to obtain a proper facial wash and rinse. Most hotels now have sinks with single mix faucets.

The staff were very helpful in an emergency. Needed to change rooms - staff again very helpful. Loved the spa and treatments. Two comfortable lounges to relax in.

Lovely setting! The hotel was traditionally furnished which made it warm and welcoming. Swimming pool and hot tub were also a hit with 2 teenage sons. Received an upgrade to superior room as opposed to courtyard room which was lovely as looked out to the mountains with snow tops. The other room - courtyard had a king size bed and was very spacious. Breakfast and bistro good and staff polite and helpful - nothing too much trouble! Gorgeous rooms downstairs in which to relax. Will be back again - highly recommend to young and old alike!

Perfect location in the centre of Grasmere. Comfortable room. Helpful spa staff who managed to fit us in. Good airy and light swimming pool. Excellent breakfast selection.

Why should you have to leave the pool via the changing rooms and corridor to the car park to get to the sauna?

The staff were all so nice, they made you feel very welcome. No pretence at all and they were lovely with our 5 year old daughter.. And to food was great!

The changing rooms for the swimming pool were far too cold.

Everything except the fact that the WiFi Was virtually nom- existent i. Most places!

The fact that they advertise free WiFi in all areas and it was virtually non-existent - nothing in room at all - only active when hovering in the lobby at reception - nowhere in lounges - if this cannot be fixed, don't advertise that you have it!!

The room was spacious and comfortably with a lovely bay window looking out over the garden, with the mountains just in view behind the trees. We had a lovely breakfast in our room looking at this view. The bathroom was modern and clean. The three different rooms to sit in were charming, the open fire in the reception was really welcoming. In the summer you can see that it would be lovely to sit outside in the garden and enjoy the view. The food was tasty, well cooked and of a high quality. We had dinner there and enjoyed a really good three course dinner, although you do pay for it!

Overall this hotel wasn't worth the £179 a night that we paid I'm sorry to say. Two single mattresses were put together to make a double bed which isn't what I would have expected for the price. The mattresses weren't very comfortable either. It's misleading that the hotel says it has a spa - the spa really isn't a spa for those of us who go to them so don't come here if you're looking for this kind of break! It has a small swimming pool with a jacuzzi next to it in a rather tired space. There was a sauna that you had to access by walking out of the changing room and down the main corridor to reception. The sauna wasn't switched on. My boyfriend said the men's changing rooms were dirty, he chose not to shower there. There's no steam room / thermal spa area of any kind. I have to say that I regularly stay in a hotel in Lancaster with work for £75 per night that has better facilities in this respect. The hotel decor and the background music needs some attention. The bar had the Beatles playing over and over for the two days that we were there, there was no effort put into the music to make sitting in the bar pleasurable or to create any kind of atmosphere (suggest thinking about some jazz, laid back soul or even classical music to fit the type of hotel?). We chose to sit in the other rooms after two hours of the Beatles, as let's face it, while much loved some of their songs are rather depressing (e.g. Eleanor Rigby)! The decor when you look closely is a bit of a mixed bag of all sorts of patterns and eras. I was hoping for something reasonably luxurious for the price based on hotels and B&Bs that I've stayed in elsewhere. We left feeling disappointed unfortunately, I don't think this place is value for money. and wouldn't recommend it to others.

The staff were friendly , helpful and professional. Such a shame on our society that we have 2.5 million receiving unemployment benefit because they lack the will and positive attitude which immigrants from eastern Europe possess. A great benefit of your hotel is that it is not in Ambleside or Windermere! We shuddered when we saw the crowds in other towns nearby.

The view from the window overlooking the mountain (with snow!) Our room was quiet and peaceful, and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was very good. The evening meal was excellent. The staff were very attentive in the dining room without being overbearing. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. We have been to the Lakes many times but this was out first stay in Grasmere which we found very relaxing. It was a perfect place to stay given the weather.

We would like firmer pillows please!

Pool was a bit small - which , to be honest, was not much of a negative.

The bath was very deep (I am only 5ft) It was even difficult for me to get in to shower.

Pillows too soft. Bedroom decoration needs updating (but don't go too modern. Still need to maintain character) Kettle had damaged flex and overboiled - tea/coffee making facilities need updating. Lift - has character but does need updating. Price for lower end rooms a little steep given the view. May struggle to compete with The Daffodil

The hotel in general is good and staff very friendly. Stayed previously and had lovely room and food.

The room allocated was one on the ground floor and was very small and had a notice in the room saying dogs allowed but not in public areas so as I am allergic to dogs didn't sleep very well. Booked last minute so expected bad room so not surprised. Bathroom door never shut properly and there was a leak under the sink.

The hotel's location was central to the lakes and the setting very pretty and tranquil. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious!
