The Bedroom was clean and was decorated to a high standard using warm, rich colours. We both loved the complimentary toiletries and the bathroom facilities. The Hotel Pool and Jacuzzi are fantastic to come back to after a long walk! The Signature Restaurant food and wine in the evening were excellent although very filling after 5 courses! The next night we went to try The Dove Bistro, which was just as good but we decided to stick to 2 courses this time!We both had the Chicken pie, chips and veg, which was lovely except we both thought the contents of the pie needed to be thicker,it was quite wet under the crispy pastry.
The bedroom pillows seem to have no filling in them!My husband likes to have two pillows but his head was still hitting the mattress! You have to ask for an iron and board. The noise from the bathroom fan when you get up to switch the light on to go to the toilet. More milk cartons for tea in room please. I was disappointed with the full cumbrian breakfast. The bacon and black pudding were dry as though they had been under a heater for awhile and not freshly cooked to order!
Breakfast was excellent and dove bistro was really good value
Couldn't get wi-fi , said on Internet when we booked it had a gym but gym has been removed so needs updating
For the money we spent it's not worth a penny, booked a couple room got two single beds joined together, it was meant to be a romantic weekend break but had the worst night sleep ever. No wifi in the room and was told do not guaranteed signal in every room. silver fish in the bathroom which was disturbing. decoration was tired. Please don't stay here is't waste of money.
Hotel was right in the centre of the village. Lovely room and very clean Had a very tasty meal in the Dove Bistro.
Service at breakfast was rather slow and disorganised. Went to the Spa on Sunday afternoon expecting to relax in the jacuzzi but instead we had to listen to screaming children in the pool.
The franchise spa was excellent and the hotel was clean. The staff were distant although friendly. There were gluten free options and good at that.
Cost of the packed lunch was very expensive for what you get. The external decor is tired and needs redoing. The restaurant was not particularly awe inspiring. Generally the hotel is starting to look tired and is in need of modernisation.
The location is very handy, and the gardens are lovely . The staff were generally very friendly.the decor was very good. Overall very comfortable
There were three of us and each one of our bills was incorrect, and it took a long time to sort it all out. Also I do feel the hotel is overpriced.
Clean. Good location. Nice breakfast.
Very small room. Overpriced. Spa facility was fully booked for the 3 days we were there. No recomendations to book spa treatments in advance of arrival. Wifi out of range in our room.
Nice hotel with great location. Good facilities and good staff.
Several rooms are by service area/kitchen which leads to lots of noise and smells. Avoiding these rooms is not guaranteed especially when a wedding is on and hotel is full.
The staff were friendly and generally very helpful. The sitting rooms were also nice.
Our room was being heated from below and was uncomfortable. No other rooms were available and the in room air con was stated to be a benefit. Unfortunately it was required to make the room bearable at night. This room probably would be good in cold weather.
Service .course's served so fast with no time between it was like a race to move you out . Had to tell them to take main course back to the kitchen has starter course had only just been taken away. This was then reserved dryed out and very sad looking some 15 minutes later.
No handrail at short staircase leading to our room,No.34. We have complained about it in the past to no avail. £38 fixed price menu for dinner too expensive. There seemed to be no a la carte available unless we missed it.
The quiet aspect of the village of Grasmere, the Hotel itself was absolutely charming, the grounds, the drawing rooms, the leisure facilities and finally, the staff couldn't have been more helpful.
There was nothing l didn't like about our stay there.
Everything about our stay was fantastic, couldn't fault anything.
We stayed in the executive room, it was a complimentary upgrade! The hotel gods were smiling on us ;). The room was spacious with a four poster bed. The location is really perfect, right in the heart of the quiet village.
The wifi didn't work, so I would plan trips and info before hand as there's no signal there! That is minor though, would recommend this hotel a lot!
The optional Bistro diner; although, saying that, it can be a damp meal if it rains...one has to go outside to eat in it!
The restaurant only offered 3+ courses. We would have liked to eat in there. Not everyone likes to eat that amount in the evening!
Central location. Good breakfast. Lovely garden. Lounges for guests.
The room was rather warm - it probably was just above the kitchen. The wifi was not available in the room - I had to get it in the lounge and the speed was slow.
Location is good. Staff helpful Good breakfast Car parking
Room was very warm, aircon noisy. Furniture ,decor looking tired.
The weather - it poured down!
Location was lovely, Was warned there was no view from the room, oh yes the bathroom of next doors suite but didn't mind at all. Would definitely visit again.
Restaurant was excellent Beautiful cocktails Amazing location
Room got too hot in the summer
Jacuzzi. Interior design of room. Staff.
Breakfast issues on last day.
All the staff were very helpful.
Didn't like the fact after spending nearly £800 I was charged £2.50 for paying with MasterCard.
Location, central to Grasmere Spa facilities Breakfasts
Tatty grubby rooms, tare in fabric on stool, cobwebs on light, damp above radiator, mold in corner of bathroom, mucky carpet, suspicious stain on side of bed. Hot room even in cool rainy conditions constant use of the fan required. Rude reception staff when told of lack of hot water very dismissive, Without hot water for 30 minutes when we wanted to get a quick start. Unhelpful with other issues.
Difference in standards of courtyard rooms Couldn't obtain two rooms near each other despite request
Pool had only two beds and they were dirty.
