Excellent customer focus from the new management - great new decor being rolled out - superb breakfast Bed was a standard double and a facility like this deserves King Size - similarly the bathroom was bijou to say the least, but this is only a critique of Room 18 as I am aware that other rooms have bigger bits!

Had an excellent family get - together. Food was very good and staff friendly. Hotel is undergoing reburbishment so rooms were in need of attention but this did not distract from enjoyment of the stay.

It is set in the countryside and would be good for a relaxing stay. I would say it is probably one of the quietest hotels I have stayed in, even though when we stayed it was fully booked. Having recently been taken over it is showing some signs of neglect and requires some investment to prevent it falling into a poor condition. The gardens in particular looked as though they were in need of some attention.

The staff in this hotel were excellent. The food was very good and the atmosphere was relaxed. The hotel is under new management having just come out of receivership but from the guests point of view this is not evident apart from some obviously missing artworks from the walls (the bankers left the hooks behind). A beautiful and comfortable hotel in tranquil surroundings. The hotel was quite quiet when we went just before Easter but the other guests we did meet were nice. So...friendly staff, good food and nice clientele. What more can you ask? I'd recommend it.

The setting and the original features of the hotel. The breakfast was good. The decor was shabby and the staff disorganised.

Lovely staff and wonderful building. Will def be staying again. The room was quite cold, especially at night as the bedding isnt very thick. The Hotel doesnt use duvets but thin blankets which wasnt very nice in a cold room. If this was changed I would def be visiting the hotel again.

Had a wonderful stay at the Wrea Head Country House Hotel. Stunning building surrounded by beautiful countryside. We spent the evening there while attending a wedding at a nearby venue, but wish we could have had more time to spent at our hotel. Even returned early from the reception to enjoy a champagne night cap by the Wrea Head's open fire in the gorgeous wood panelled snug. The hotel was spotlessly clean, had very attentive staff, great views from our window. Great location for country walks, to get into Scarborough and surrounding villages and our stay was great value for money. We will be back in future!

The hotel has a lot of potential. The location was very picturesque and the food in the restaurant was very nice. The room was very cold, due to the heating not being switched on until later and the staff were not always the most helpful, being told different things by different people. Although the rooms were clean, there were little things that letdown the overall cleanliness and standard of the hotel.

A beautiful place in gorgeous settings - I'm old fashioned & much prefer historic buildings with a bit of character, much more relaxing. The staff are superb, friendly & nothing is too much trouble. Shame the prices are going up - probably beyond our reach now. We prefer to do our own thing for breakfast & meals, just wanted the room.

The manageress was fantastic and very helpful, the location is good for peace and quiet breaks There was not a lot of choice on the menu and the restaurant is too closed in, I had a panic attack whilst in the restaurant and had to leave. When the manageress is not working the staffing levels do go down

It is a pleasant old house, which could, with the appropriate investment and renovation offer a reasonable location. It is within easy reacvh of excellent country side, though regrettably offers no really impressive views The hotel is part of a local group which is apparently in administration. This does not seem surprising, in that it appears to have been under invested in over a long period and now has a very worn out, unloved tired feeling to it, with accommodation and facilities which make the rack rates look around 30 - 50% over priced, Did not eat dinner in restaurant, but breakfast was very disappointing. As a package it was prett appalling so avoid!

The exterior of the Hotel looked great, the public areas were full of character but a little worn!, Bed was comfortable, staff were polite. The exterior and public spaces were as I would expect, our room (9) was a broom cupboard!, It was so small I could only get into the 4'6" double bed over the end!, I had to move furniture to get into the bathroom and when on the toilet my knees hit the shower. The decoration of the room was in a bit of a state, the carpet bar on the bathroom was missing. The breakfast room was being re-decorated, at least all the pictures were missing leaving dirty marks on the walls. I had poached eggs on toast, the eggs were over cooked and tasted strongly of vinegar, the toast was soggy where the eggs were not drained.

The hotel was in a beutiful location, quiet and peaceful. A lovely romm with views across the countryside. The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was excellent as was the service. The best tea and coffee i have ever tasted. The meal on Saturday evening was faultless. The staff were a team so that was refreshing to see. Roon was spotless and huge. Nothing negative to say only i wish we had stayed a bit longer. But we will go back for sure.

We liked the food, the quietness of the room, the staff. We had booked a superior room no 12..The toilet did not flush. One bedside light did not work. The two easy chairs were stained. This was not a superior room.Outside the grounds had a run down atmosphere.

Fabulous hotel in a beautiful location with wonderful views. Our room was very spacious & had a lovely view. The staff were very helpful & the food was very good. Our only gripe was that the alternative breakfasts to a full English breakfast - such as kippers or smoked salmon were an extra cost. In most hotels these come included. Apart from that I can't complain!

Ref: 730471247 My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Wrea Head Country Hotel. We are both extremely angry about the experience we had. As soon as we set foot in the bedroom No17 it was claustrophobic and we requested another room straight away, it seems there were none and we had no option but to stay. As you will see from the reference number we paid £210 for the 2 nights stay and for that we got an attic single sized bedroom . The mattress was atrocious and we both suffered back pain the following mornings. The décor should always come second to a basic need for a decent mattress. We have never had this problem with Premier Inns !!! Then there was the problem of the heat in the room, it has been a very hot weekend and the temperature in that room and especially through the night was horrendous. After the first night of not sleeping due to a poor quality mattress and excessive heat in the room (with both small windows wide open) we asked again to change the room if possible and were offered an electric fan, which we declined, it was almost impossible to sleep with all the other factors without a noisy fan buzzing. There was also a problem with the TV remote it did not switch off the TV and the only way was by the wall switch under the TV. The remote only worked intermittently. The bathroom shower was extremely weak although the bathroom itself looked nice again the basics had been overlooked. This is our first time in an English Rose Hotel it was to be a special break to celebrate my birthday. It has been an occasion to remember for all the wrong reasons and I am extremely disappointed and aggrieved. What you see on line IS NOT what you get where rooms are concerned. Sent to English Rose Hotels 4/7/11
